  • Shore fishing for Bass and Flounder is a British winter tradition. Finding some sheltered shore fishing in winter can really keep the love for angling alive during the dark and rainy months. Here I fish a new shore mark in an estuary targeting Flounder and Bass. I explain the rigs and baits I use and show how to unhook a deep hooked flatfish.
Don't forget to check out our sister channel @thefishlockerworkshop for helpful reviews and videos - including the video on how to make the flatfish disgorger.

You are a dedicated fisherman, respect bro. And to the people who disagree with fisherman whether it be river canal loch or sea , FISHERMAN are the gatekeeper of the waters, reporting pollution and stopping illegal fishing , these people have a love of nature 💕 most people don't understand.

Hi John, really enjoy watching your channel and learning about sea fishing. I’m introducing myself and my son (6) to fishing and your videos help with learning different tricks and tips.
This exact mark I have fished a number of times and although not as successful as you a beautiful place to fish and with some info on floating beads and double rigs hopefully more successful next time!
    All the best DT

Hi John another cracking video from you I've been sea fishing for 25 years or more from the boat and shore and I still learn something new after watching your presentations I also like the way you show that fishing can be done with the minimum amount of pain and suffering to the fish by the way you utilise a tub filled with water along with the way you use your disgorger to remove the hook without causing injury to the fish whether you are returning it to the sea or even if you intend taking it home to eat I wish more fisherman would adopt this method. Also with your knowledge and passion of fishing I think you should have your own fishing channel on tv im sure that you would generate a lot of interest in fishing you have probably forgotten more about fishing than most of the so called experts keep up the exelent work. Thanks Les.

I so love this channel! I live in the Western US, so my fishing is all inland high mountain streams and lakes for trout and salmon usually on a fly, so it is fascinating watching such a completely different style of fishing, and exotic species (at least exotic to me)...plus I am originally from the UK, so it brings me warm and fuzzy "back home" tingles. :)

The thing i liked most in this video John, is the respect towards your catch. When you don't take it home for the pot, one should treat the catch in the proper way and that is de way how you handle the fish. I have seen it in numerous times in your video's, but especialy in this video it showes the care you have for what you are doing towards the fish. A deep bow and hat of for that John. You are an example for many fisherman and i know why.👍👍👍. Greetz from Stipo from Holland

When i was young used to fish the strands on the southern coast of Ireland near Waterford. We caught a flatfish cousin of the flounder called a plaice. Spotted like a trout, unbelievably good. Flatfish are superior when fresh! Recommend a Guinness w the flounder, John. Cheers!

Great channel and clear explanations, love watching your methods from someone who loved to fish but unfortunately muscular dystrophy and two hips broken has stopped me here in Spain. Spent many weekends with friends angling at coastal towns here in Cape Town South Africa. Love those flounders and nice size. Perhaps i can try casting a line in from my wheelchair, I’m also looking at the sandy bottoms in the Mar Menor and thinking sole, not sure of other flatfish on the Spanish coastline. But this is your show and well presented, thank you for a great bit of advice too. That disgorger works like a charm.

Thanks for another fun trip. Great flounder. I'll be out on the Hudson River next Saturday, but the water is so cold I doubt if I'll catch anything other than an oyster toadfish or a white perch. Haven't been fishing since the end of December, so I don't care. Just need a line in the water. Roll on the end of March and fishing in New Orleans!

Flounder fishing isn’t what it was 10 years ago mate. You used to be sure of at least half a dozen prime fish per session. 2-3lbers were common. Seals have ruined lots of areas.
