Wow so cute, I have 14 great grands so going to make them this for Christmas this year. To save shipping I want to just mail the case then tell them size of pillow they’ll need. Should learn how to put zipper in. Love the piping idea. Thank you
I would suggest that you use a darker thread for your bobbin, so you can see that stitch line. Make a envelope opening for the back so you can add the pillow that way.
Linda Deutscher I was going to say the same!!! Sometimes pillow covers need washed, easier to get it off the pillow. I like a feather pillow sometimes...For comfort. 😀
If you were to embroider the pocket would you do it before or after adding the fusable fleece? Wasn’t sure if maybe that could act as your stabilizer or not. Thanks
Love the tutorial. Loathe the music. 😳. I’m getting my first embroidery machine tomorrow and a reading pillow is at the top of my list of first projects in the upcoming weeks, so this tutorial is perfect!
Thank you for the great tutorial, I have a hard time finding tutorials with good camera angles, good audio quality, and clear but casual instructions: you nailed it! I have never tried using piping but your instructions made it seem not-so-intimidating :) PS: To the people who complain about the music, you just need to learn how to decipher words through other sounds. Im sensitive to multiple stimuli (which is why finding good tutorials are important for me), so my whole life I had to learn how to hear what people are saying while trying to ignore other sounds happening simultaneously. Its not that hard, ladies. Besides, your complaints about the music are super rude. Maybe next time yall should learn how to kindly suggest something instead of using words like annoying, distracting, or loathe. Audio production isnt easy! Id love to see any of you ladies use an audio editing program and figure out how to adjust the volume on multiple audio tracks ;)
Hello Misty! You can use a regular zipper foot, but you're not going to be able to get as close to the edge of the piping as you would with a zipper foot. If using an open-toe zipper foot, move your needle as far to one side as possible to get as close to the piping as you can.
The materials and method listed in the link are different than whats listed in the video. So I gathered up the items listed on the blog but it didn't match what was used here. Wish that was made clear for new sewist to better be able to follow along.
Like your demo, but just a kind suggestion for some that might be new Or harder of hearing, slow down speech and just be clear on direction. Again, thank you.
This is the cutest idea!!! I swear, Melissa's site has a ridiculous amount of tutorials that are so DARLING!
I have seem these with handles. A great idea. I also like a zipper at the bottom. Piping seems to help hide it. Great project.
P.s. Kimberly, thank you for providing us with top-quality tutorials from the best individuals in the quilting/sewing community!!! 👏👌👍
Thank you. The piping does finish the pillow off nicely.

I've wanted to learn how to add piping on to projects, and your tutorial is great--very beginner friendly! Thank you for sharing, Melissa!!!
Great video. Loved watching Melissa add the cording.
No music now. I loved this ❤️
Very good tutorial and really like the piping and thank you for showing all the way to the completion.
Thank goodness music ends a couple minutes into terrific video. Thank you Melissa and FQS.
A handle on top would be great!
What a wonderful gift idea.

That 's what I thought I would do. She didn't finish the cushion in her video do you don't know how to finish it
I will do this, but add a handle.....I already ordered the fabric. Thank you so much

Question: What size pillow form do you use with the 18”x18” cut fabric?
Hello Linda! You can use a 18" pillow form it you want it really full. Otherwise use a 16"
Haven't read all of the comments, but I can't hear her talk over the music. Love the tutorial, though.
I liked the tutorial, but don’t understand why music is playing at all.
Love these pillows so much! Can these be made with an envelope back?
Hello Laurie! Yes, you can add an envelope back.
Love this video. Thank you for it. Question... When making this pillow, do you use an 18 inch pillow form or can it be stuffed with polyfill?
Hello Julie Ann! Yes, Melissa used an 18 inch pillow form but you may use anything you like.
Thank you for the great tutorial, I have a hard time finding tutorials with good camera angles, good audio quality, and clear but casual instructions: you nailed it! I have never tried using piping but your instructions made it seem not-so-intimidating :)

Hello Jessica! Thank you for your comment. We are glad you enjoy our videos!
Great tutorial thank you
Can I make this work with 16x16?
What size pillow form do you use for this pattern?
Hello Karen! The pillow form Melissa is using is 18” square: www.fatquartershop.com/nsearch/?q=18”+pillow+form
How do you close the cushion? You didn't show that part.
I’m gonna “Go ahead” and make this........🤪
I dont have a zipper foot or binding foot. Is there a way to sew the piping on with a regular sewing foot?
Hello Misty! You can use a regular zipper foot, but you're not going to be able to get as close to the edge of the piping as you would with a zipper foot. If using an open-toe zipper foot, move your needle as far to one side as possible to get as close to the piping as you can.
@@FatQuarterShopTX thank you so much for answering me, I love your videos!
I enjoyed your video with this reading pillow. Do you have a video where the back is enveloped.
My correct name is Donna Kadden
Hello Donna! Here is a video on how to make a pillow with an envelope back: ruclips.net/video/3G6W1xR8MBk/видео.html
The board you used to iron on the tabletop, please can I ask where I can get one?
Hello Pamela! The Quilter's Cut N Press II is available here: www.fatquartershop.com/quilters-cut-n-press-ii
Great video but I agree about the music. Totally unnecessary and rather annoying.
I thought my Pandora had come on! Got so distracted trying to figure out how to turn it off I had to rewatch the video!
What number is the piping foot? I’d like to get one-or maybe I have one and just don’t know what it’s for!
12C :D
Oh yes
💗💗💗
I enjoyed your tutorial, and especially like to addition of piping ... it gives such a nice finishing touch. And the music doesn’t bother me at all
🌺
The music is too loud!
The music was loud and the volume for instruction, low.
I don’t understand the fuss about the music. I hardly noticed the music.
Its louder than her on my video
Thank you I love you video my name is Mélissa🇩🇿
Cut the music! Whew! Glad it stopped . Thank you for the tutorial
Great tutorial but the soaring music is so distracting!
The materials and method listed in the link are different than whats listed in the video. So I gathered up the items listed on the blog but it didn't match what was used here. Wish that was made clear for new sewist to better be able to follow along.
Need to do away with the music all together. Good video and instructions, but the music is too loud and unnecessary.
My volume was all the way up. I could barely hear what she was saying.
1:45 for an intro is way too long
Like your demo, but just a kind suggestion for some that might be new Or harder of hearing, slow down speech and just be clear on direction. Again, thank you.
Music makes it really hardfor me to hear.
Avoid all the chatter and skip to 1:45
Great video but music was too loud, had a hard time hearing her.
music is so distracting that I could not tune it out to hear her talking...
The music is really overpowering.
Can you please remove the music.....
Take the music out of your video it spoils it
Stop the music so awful
The music volume makes this video unwatchable. This video needed a sound mixer.
Was ready to watch this but can't hear you. Shame to go to all that effort and then you can't be heard.
Just the back ground made me leave. So annoying. Sorry but
