Thank you for the great video. I just undertook the surgery to replace the two belts. It's 19 years old and the belts turned into bubblegum. Surprisingly it's actually easier than you make it look. I didn't even unload the carousel. Disconnecting the 4 cables from the board is probably the riskiest part. Great, helpful video. The best part is it allowed me to change both belts ($10 from Amazon) in about ten minutes with no problems, and, best of all, without having to take out a single disk. Saved a big pain of putting all of the disks back in!

Happy to find this video. I've just unpacked three of these full of discs that were in storage for 10 years. Everyone had crapped out, but your video is a god send. Where can I find belts?
So glad your video came up after the one I watched about removing all the layers of components to get down to the belts. Wow! What a timesaver going in through the back of the unit. Thank you so much. It works perfectly.
Amazing! You have saved me from having to purchase a new CD player. Couple of new belts and fixed. I wish you would comment with which belts you purchase and use. The ones I ended up with weren't rounded edge smooth like yours were. Thank you so very much for the very informative and helpful video.
Thank you! Was able to complete this repair in 20 minutes, and 10 of that was spent trying to get the old rubber bands out! Excellent video. Thanks. I did also have a problem with the player mechanism not being in the correct place on the spiral track after I removed it to replace the belts before I watched your video. Luckily it is working now.
Yeap that can happen if you also remove too many of the screws, especially the ones that hold the cd laser frame in place. Easy to line it back up though. as you found out :-)
Great video - many thanks! I have the exact machine that needs new belts too. I'd like to put it back into service. What size belts should I get before I take it apart? Any particular sources you'd recommend or just from ebay?
I got this a couple years ago for about $40, it needed some belts, I went to dollar store and bought a bag full of assorted size elastic bands and was able to fix player, still plays no problem. Put on random and plays for ever.
I'm a little late but I have a problem with my cdp-cx350. I changed the belts but since then it just displays"table error" and won't play the disk but instead stop one next to the grabbing mechanism. If I push the carusel a little manualy, it will grab the disk and starts playing it. Would you know a solution that might fixes my issue?
Thank you for a fantastic video. Its the best video on here for belt changing. My Sony CD changer has just had the belts changed by the previous owner a few weeks ago and it seems to worked fine until today. The carousel just goes around and I see blue, green and amber lights in the window. I've checked all the plastic tabs on the underside and they are all there and secure. Might it be the sensors have dust or misalignment?
Really good instructive video thanks, good enough that I'll give mine a go! One thing you didn't mention was the size of the drive belts that are required, bit I'll see if I can find that somewhere else 🤞
Great video content. Are you just using common elastic/rubber bands? I have a 200 disk CDP-CX235 and it seems like there is only one toothed belt in the rear. Can you replace that with a non-toothed belt? I'm having loading issues as the disk wil intially load into the opitical driver then it will fall out. Is this related to the loose belt? Daniel
What a terrific tutorial, but I have another question about this unit. Some of my CDRs aren’t being recognized. Should I clean the lens as you mention (I do have a lens cleaner disc though?) or is this an issue with the laser? The CDRs play fine in other machines.
Not a fault with the machine, its just down to the quality of the discs and that the machine was never designed for CDR as predated the format. Using good quality audio CDR grade discs over data CDR discs will help but wont guarantee playback.
Thank you for sharing this video. Does replacing the belts also solved the issues that sometimes when loading a cd the cd gets stuck and smashed somewhere in the machine or brakes. I had that twice so maybe i need to replace the belts. Thanks for sharing again.
Thanks that was very helpful but do you know what the blue, green and amber light mean ?, i cant seem to find any info on them in the manual or online . Thanks
Hi,I changed out the belts but the table stops 1 disc short to load.I can move it manually and it will grab the cd but I can't seem to get it alighned.Any suggestions?Thank you
either sensor alighment, or you are missing a tooth from the bottom of the turntable which the laser counts (happens when people try to fit new door belts!)
I've watched the video, loved it! I have seen numerous questions asking about the belts, what size, where to find them etc. Can you let us in on the source of the belts? Thanks again.

I have this model . I believe it needs new belts and general cleaning but the door won’t open when the button is pressed. Can you give me an idea what the repair is? Thank you.
Great video, many thanks, my CDP-CX355 (that I got maybe back in 2001) now has 2 new belts that work great. But there is an additional fault that I don't know how to fix, can you give a suggestion? This fault was present before the belt changes. The unit grabs each CD but almost always is unable to play the cd, it just spins for some time, then moves to the next disc , and this repeats. I don't see an error message. Occasionally it will play, or play some of the tracks and then the fault reappears. I cleaned the laser with isopropyl alcohol on a cotton-bud as you did, but it does not change the symptom. Any suggestions?
Great video very helpful where can I buy the new belts and do they have part # 's also my machine needs the new belts but it does pull the disk out of the tray and then tries to scan the disks and then just puts it back in the tray and never plays it. Have you done a video on repairing that problem? Thank you again for your help.

What about the door belt? I bought the replacement belts and both the drive belts were easy to replace with your video. I am wondering about the 3rd smaller belt that came with the package.
Great info thanks ! I just picked up one of these, the sound doesn't come on until after about 5 minutes even though I see the timer as the cd plays and it also get stuck on a track periodically. Any idea what might be wrong ?
A big thank you for this video, it worked perfectly... now have our much missed player working... one question I cleaned the laser and noted how loose it was, is this how it scans a disc or do I have a problem as at the end of some discs we seem to get the music stuck in one place!! Kind regards Ken.
this video help me resolved this issue with no probelm ..........Now a few years later the ftont button on the player is tuck (on/button) Is there a way there a way to fix this a s well?
Great video it helped me get started, Im having trouble getting the carousel to fit in without rubbing, all belts changed but I can’t get past this. Any help is appreciated!..
Hello! Great video! Do you know anything about why the door woont open and close on mine? Also do you have a link on where to order your belts! Thanks again!
Thanks for the informative video! I put some new belts on a Sony CX-355, 300 disk player. What tool do you use for adjusting the sensors? An oscilloscope? I think there may be something wrong with the sensors but I really have no clue. When I turn it on, the table/carousel rotates a bit then reverses direction, it does that a few times and then stops. It won't even get a disk ready to play or eject one. It displays 'Table Error'. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!
yeap a scope is the best way, but what you describe sounds like a damaged table causing a sensor error - the tables going back and forth as it cannot locate its position - remove it and turn it over, there`s a row of tiny tabs that run along the edge all the way round - the sensor "counts" these tabs to work out where the table is - you often find that some are missing from mis-use, so check they are all there - look for any gaps that are not constant (i.e too big). Only way to fix is either with some crafting plastic and patience, or a replacement table.
Hi I have a question. My mothers 350 quit working and I took the top off and immediately saw that the belt was off. I ordered 2 belts from ebay and am gonna go ahead and change both when they get here but I noticed that the disc tray doesn't spin freely when I tried to move it with my hand. Does that mean I have a bigger problem than just the belt being off the pulley?
Hi There i have one of these in for repair with 2 rear loading belts are u/s have managed to fit the belts using tweezers so have not had to disturb anything. The unit will find a disc location and play it but if you close the machine with no disc's in side the unit goes through all the locations looking for disc's which takes hours. Any idea ?s Manu thanks robert
check the rollers under the tray have not come loose if they are loose when theres no weight (i.e no discs loaded) it won`t be lined up with the sensor
Thanks this was a great video! Have you done the belts on a DVP-CX985V? I have the 3 belt set but I haven't changed them yet, I'm not sure I want to tackle the procedure, a local repair shop gave me a estimate of $80.00 usd.

Thanks for that!
Really good instructive video thanks, good enough that I'll give mine a go! One thing you didn't mention was the size of the drive belts that are required, bit I'll see if I can find that somewhere else 🤞
they are in my store
Excellent video 10/10. What happens if I don’t have the finger rings and ankle bracelet you mentioned? What kind of metal would they need to be?
Excellent video but where do I get the replacement belts ? ( part #) ?
awesome video, repaired my machine in an hour! thanks!
Glad it helped!
hey thanks i just fixed one of these because of your video!
Glad I could help!
Daniel
newer models don`t use the toothed belts, so if you have a toothed belt on yours you`ll need to replace with same.
Thank you 🙏🏼 for detailed instructions - they worked perfect 👍🏻
You're welcome!
Any guidance where to buy the belt itself ? any reference number and website ? Thanks. Very instructive !
Wow… thank you for getting back so quickly. The strange thing was I burned all the CDRs together, on Verbatim Digital Vinyl CDRs.
Most of the albums I burned to those CDRs were fine.
Excellent video. Great help. Could you please tell me where I might find the replacement belts and size that you used. Thanks again.
Hi,
Great video - what size belts are they.
Dave
Esse aparelho consegue reproduzir os 200 CD's um atras do outro? tem função de tocar aleatório?
Thankyou so much.... our machine has been resurrected😊
Most welcome 😊
Thank you for sharing this video. Does replacing the belts also solved the issues that sometimes when loading a cd the cd gets stuck and smashed somewhere in the machine or brakes. I had that twice so maybe i need to replace the belts. Thanks for sharing again.
new belts would help the clamp for the disc.
Thank you! I just bought some belts!!
no worries
Great video! I have a belt for the door operation also and hope its self evident as how to replace it.
Good luck!
if it's like other Sony jukeboxes, you'll likely need to remove the carousel itself. Motor and belt are underneath.
Thanks bruf. It helped me a lot working on my CX555.
Good to hear
Thanks that was very helpful but do you know what the blue, green and amber light mean ?, i cant seem to find any info on them in the manual or online . Thanks
if memory serves its for checking discs, none loaded, discs loaded, and disc selected
Great video piece of cake to change the belts saved my CD player. Thanks
You're welcome!
Just wondering if you could help me! My 153 has no digital display light.. Is there a button that would light it up?
I've watched the video, loved it! I have seen numerous questions asking about the belts, what size, where to find them etc. Can you let us in on the source of the belts? Thanks again.
eBay...about $8
How to find replacement belts - Search for: 2 Drive Belts and 1 Door Belt for Sony 300 400 CDP-CX300 CDP-CX400 CD Player Belts
Several results found on Amazon, Ebay, etc. These fit multiple models of the Sony Carousel style players. Set of all 3 belts should be under $10 including shipping.
As the video mentioned, to replace the door belt you need to remove the carousel to get underneath it.
in my ebay store
Where do you get your replacement belts from ?
I have this model . I believe it needs new belts and general cleaning but the door won’t open when the button is pressed. Can you give me an idea what the repair is? Thank you.
Hey, so my lens is stuck in the down position so it’s not able to read the discs, looking for a fix
Any suggestions?
could be the alignment is out (theres a screw on the clamp) or its dirty, or just needs a new laser - they can be found on ebay for not much money
Do you take in players to repair and where ARE you located?
Great video on changing the belt...I tried to use my Sony's 300 and the door wold not open and go to various records. How I can fix this...thanks

I am wondering about the 3rd smaller belt that came with the package.
door belts rarely fail. its located under the turntable at the front, door slides back and unclips from its mount like a keyhole
Worked perfectly for me - many thanks!
You're welcome!
Great info thanks ! I just picked up one of these, the sound doesn't come on until after about 5 minutes even though I see the timer as the cd plays and it also get stuck on a track periodically. Any idea what might be wrong ?
At the very least give the laser a clean
A big thank you for this video, it worked perfectly... now have our much missed player working... one question I cleaned the laser and noted how loose it was, is this how it scans a disc or do I have a problem as at the end of some discs we seem to get the music stuck in one place!! Kind regards Ken.
it should be loose as it needs to focus in and out. Thanks
this video help me resolved this issue with no probelm ..........Now a few years later the ftont button on the player is tuck (on/button) Is there a way there a way to fix this a s well?
Great video it helped me get started, Im having trouble getting the carousel to fit in without rubbing, all belts changed but I can’t get past this. Any help is appreciated!..
why did you remove the carosel?
Hello! Great video! Do you know anything about why the door woont open and close on mine? Also do you have a link on where to order your belts! Thanks again!
do you hear the motor? If not its a sensor issue.
@@Sortitoutman thanks for the reply! I'll check tonight/tommorow and get back to you 😀
Will this solve if the eject is stuck?
Awesome video! Maybe it’s somewhere in the comments, but what belts did you use, where can I find them?
I have them on my ebay shop(the_hifi_guy) Thanks
@@Sortitoutman thank you!
Thanks for the video. Mine works again now!
Good to hear!
Thank you,I got the belts on but the number and graffics are scrambling when it pluged in.
Hi I have a question. My mothers 350 quit working and I took the top off and immediately saw that the belt was off. I ordered 2 belts from ebay and am gonna go ahead and change both when they get here but I noticed that the disc tray doesn't spin freely when I tried to move it with my hand. Does that mean I have a bigger problem than just the belt being off the pulley?
its on gears so it should be reasonably hard to turn manually.
I have the 3 belt set but I haven't changed them yet, I'm not sure I want to tackle the procedure, a local repair shop gave me a estimate of $80.00 usd.
sorry that was never in the UK but the other DVP dvd changers were all gears not belts.
Thank you for making this video!
No worries!
