  • In this video I take a close look at a set of Dunlop Trailmax Mission tires that I have ridden 9000 miles with on my 2019 Triumph Tiger 800XCx. Also I take a day ride on the Tiger with a fresh set of Shinko E-804/805 tires and get a first impression of them.

Best intro when you come off and look back and your Buddy synchronised his/her fall to make you feel better. Seriously one in a million shot that is.

    Brett my man.
Great to listen to your clear and honest thoughts
Second Super ten for me and over 100k.
These tyres after 2000klm are the best all rounder I have had.
Thanks for your help with that decision.

This tire set up is what I always run... I don't think they can be beat... Super tough... Quiet and great on the road. Off road goes without sayin. Best of all is value for money

Man, I'm impressed with the miles you got on those takeoffs.
I know they are more expensive than most, but when you average in the mileage, you can't miss.

Also, I have a Tiger that I run a pretty aggressive tire. Tigers don't like mud no matter what tire you run.

Thanks for great vid Ozark men.I've got the pirelli scorp.str's on but am considering next tyres as Dunlop traolmax missions.Looking at those tread patterns I would have thought the missions would be more road biased than the str's.

Unfortunately, from your review I will pulling them off at less than half life due to a planned off road trip in July. - Frank

Hello John....nice to see you back out on the Tiger in the wilderness.
We share the same feelings re the Mission tires. They last forever(around 10,000 miles on mine), they're great on normal gravel roads, and struggle in deep gravel and sand. I can handle the back sliding out, but the front washing out is scary. I just got back from Big Bend. Before I went, I switched the Tiger out to some 804/805's. While they're a huge improvement over the Missions, I still tended to get some spin on the rear. The front never washed out once. If they had just a little deeper block, they'd be much better. They're kinda soft, so just one trip, and you'll see the wear! How are you mapping your rides in Big Bend? Google? I discovered some real good rides, outside of the national park, just north of the town of Terlingua. Take a ride up Blue mtn road.
Been meaning to thank you for your recommendation of the Jasper area in the Ozarks. Went there last fall, had a blast. I stayed in the Erbie campground(you just can't beat free). Great road riding, and fun dirt backroads. I'm sure I'll be going back sometime!

Thanks or sharing John and good to see you back out exploring. I'd love to get 9000 miles out of a tyre, my best is 8000 kilometres and they're worn out. do you still have your FJR? I'd love to see a road trip on that if you do. Keep up the good work mate. Cheers Jim

I have more than 8000 miles on my Dunlops and they are still good. Where exactly are you heading for out west. I have to wonder what sort of roads you are planning on riding that the Dunlops wouldn't do the job.

Hello there sir, good to hear from you... I will be spending a week riding around the Big Bend area of SW Texas on the Rio Grande and then another week out in the Chiricahua Mountains of Arizona around Tombstone. lots of sand and gravel washes out that way. The Shinko's should be a better match for that kind of terrane. I rode the Mission tires out there a few years back and they left some to be desired in the deep stuff... Thanks for watching and keep safe out there... :)
