- Dunlop checks a lot of boxes with these TrailMax Raid tires. I have been on them for 6500 miles now and this is my review update. I think it's closest competition is the Bridgestone AX41. Stay tuned for that comparison video!

Just wanted to say (and I’m sure others agree), very much appreciate your contribution to the ADV community by all your awesome tire reviews. Thank you
@@billwaterhouse5894 well thank you for your support. It's a labor of love... My tire / traction fetish combined with my life goal of helping others have the best ride possible. I've learned a lot of things the hard, uncomfortable and a sometimes painful ways and I hope to help others avoid that.
I love these tires. I have 5000km on a set. The rear is about 30% worn and the front still looks new. Riding 2up on a weestrom. 80% hiway with the balance gravel roads in Morocco. Awesome on the road and if we transitioned from pavement to gravel you don't hardly notice. Only issue is the cost here in Canada. Just way to much. In Spain where I had them installed the all in price was about 2/3 the cost of just the tires here in Canada, even adjusting for currency
That's impressive longevity. And given where you take them, impressive performance as well. - Frank

Thank you 🙏
Right on! Thank you for your support.
Great review. Thanks.
Good review Kyle. I'm still a Motoz or Nothing guy 😊👊
Great review as always Kyle!
How would these compare to the Motor dual venture front and the Motoz Tractionator Adventure Rear Tires? I have a 2023 Suzuki VStrom 800DE and want to replace the stock tires with something more capable off road but still need good street manners for hour rides to the trails. I like what I hear about this Trailmax Raids except the front tire washout. Thought about the missions but I don't like what I hear about wet cool weather performance and the heft. Maybe the Raid rear and the mission front?
Mounted them on my new big machine, running around 36/37 Psi , love them very much, great on both off and on, but damn the front ( 19 inch ) over 65 miles is loud as hell, have on them maybe 700 miles, hopefully as I add some miles it will get quieter, other that as you say "phenomenal" rubber, cheers V!
So weird is right! I've been riding these on my GSA I took my first real dirt trip yesterday on these. I can honestly say I think I prefer the Michelin Awake 3's to these tires off road. especially anything loose. I find these tires to be the worst I have ridden off road ever!!! I can't seem to get any stopping power out of the front either. Thanks for the review!
Interesting for sure! I'm surprised you don't have stopping power, maybe the bigger bike... you prefer the Anakee 3 in the dirt? Not the Wild? Another interesting finding. Thanks for watching!
@@manybikes No the Anakee Wild is my favorite tire. Just expensive and doesn't last long. Usually 2500 miles in the rear and 5000 front. I was saying the Anakee 3 is better offload than the Dunlop Trail Max Raid tire. LOL
@@AdventureGlide WOW! Now that's saying something!!! I haven't ridden the 3 since it was released back in... what? 2012? Wasn't any good in the snow, that's for sure... but Yosemite & Death Valley were fine.
@@manybikes Yeah that's when I rode the 3 I put a set on my Super Tenere! LOL
I still have ptsd from my missions on the idbdr. No thanks.
All good, next time. May well try a set on my R9T Urban GS
If only my fav AX41’s lasted this long 😂
Here!! Ready to watch!! 😊
Softer sidewall than the AX41? I was really suprised how stiff those sidewalls were and dread getting a potential flat out in nowhere based on the PITB they were to install.
I’m a going to stay with my AX41s
Ah parked my cx500 and walked up Santiago peak when I lived in San Clemente...that was a while ago.
The VMX wheels handle rocks significantly better than the KTM wheels on my 790. - Frank
Slip and Grip. I have the Trail Max Raid tires on my R1250 GS and the front tire does the same thing you experienced. Above 50 mph the front tire sounds like an air raid siren.
If only I was still stationed on Camp Pendleton.
Oh, the suspense…….!
I have a Super Tenere and have 5000 miles on a set, I did the WABDR and rear still could go 1000 more but they are so noisy.
They were fine till 3000 mile mark but have been getting worse as I ad miles.
A 10 on the street aside from the howling but only a 7 off road. As Kyle said the front washes then catches.
For the premium price they want the noise and the front skidding and mostly catching is a deal breaker for me.
Thanks for your feedback. They are a little noisy and one you get used to the slip / grip... I really like the way they FEEL on the highway / pavement.
For Ktm 390 you’ve got some money wrapped into it. Those are not standard rims. Just means you like tubeless tires thank you for your review. This must be the one you said that you had to edit and put out the weather looked very good where you were at. If you can answer this, what did you do to your Ktm 390 to get more power out of it you said 50 hp?
6500 miles....wow. The Missions on my Tiger 900 are approaching the wear bars at 3500. Ran AX41s on it and my GS, but got about 1200 from the rears. How does the Raid perform compared to AX41?
Have you run the Dunlop Trailmax Misssions? How do they compare with the Raids when it comes to road noise and handling and wear?
which is better road tire this or Pirelli scorpion rally str?
I got 8500km on my Raids. But I'm on a r1200gsa. I like everything about them, except the noise. They just got louder and louder. I'm trying something else next set.
you replaced them at 8500km?
@@showmytime9177 Yes, not much left on the rear, 2mm. There's a little more on the front, but it's so loud it's unbearable. I did a lot of highway, so that didn't help. But we went down to Moab and did a lot of off road too. Most of the km was fully loaded with luggage and camping gear.
how do you like those VMX rims ?
30 PSI and you're getting rock dings? I guess that sidewall IS soft! 😀
Looks like they work great on a 390. But I don’t know anybody who rides a 390. Wondering how they work on heavier more powerful bike.
Why do you zip tie the spokes?
