The history of Gooey Butter cake was originated in St Louis Missouri, where I am from. A chef made an error with a recipe and it turned out like these, and of course it got the name Gooey Butter Cake. You could find these cakes in a lot of the corner bakeries in St Louis. Haas was the name of a company which has since closed its doors, but they had this cake in every grocery store. Someone from St Louis sent that recipe to Paula Deen. I just love her and she is my kind of cook, very much like you and I. My favorite is Lemon, using lemon cake mix and just adding lemon zest to the filling, yum yum
Oh my goodness, strawberry anything is my favorite. I got to meet Paula and Michael years ago. I've always thought Ms. Lori reminds me a lot of Paula Deen- wonderful Southern charm and the Best recipes ever. ❤

Well I just made this for our Resurrection Sunday meal desert. I hope it taste as good as it looks. Took my oven 30 minutes on 350 to bake. I'm so tempted to taste it but, I'm not gonna mess it up. Next, I'm gonna do the lemon one....GOD bless...
Mrs Lori, I just wanted you to know how much I love and appreciate you and Mr Brown! I’ve been canning since early this morning! I just put my iPad on your channel, and listen to your stories, recipes, canning advice, and it just makes my heart feel good! Can’t wait until your next video! God Bless you both! I have never had a ooey-gooey cake. But I'm gonna make this for my family on Easter and fancy it up a bit with sliced strawberries on top and serve with whipped cream. I can't wait to try. Have a blessed Easter everyone.
What a great surprise! I thought I would have to wait several days before another video, this was such a gift! Great recipe and Miss Lori's on my tv! So blessed are we all with you! ❤

I love ooey gooey cakes. I had a friend who was well known for her butter cakes. It has probably been 25 years since I have seen her, so this brought back some fond memories. I think it is time for me to try to make one myself. Thanks so much for taking the time to share this recipe.
I make a yellow ooey, gooey butter cake as the base for my strawberry shortcake. I put macerated strawberries over each piece with a dollop of fresh whipped cream. My family loves it!
I have never had an Ooey gooey cake before! Bit I’ll tell ya Miss Lori, I am definitely gonna make this one for my family🥰🤗💕💗🌸 Thank you for another Great Recipe sweetheart 🙏🏼💕

Good show sweet lady. My sweet sister in law was from Arkansas an a better person never lived. I miss her so and I know she would have loved this cake for Easter. 💗👍
Small suggestion: whisk the melted butter and egg together before adding to mix might make it a bit simpler to incorporate into the cake mix. Whisking while adding might help the clumping issue, too. It looks really good.
That looks so good, as everything you cook. I've had Paula Dean's butter cake in her restaurant at Myrtle Beach. At the time, it had only been open for about a week, so we waited in line for over 2 hours. But it was very well worth it. I'm going to have to try this strawberry one, or maybe even blueberry. Thanks for sharing this easy recipe.
