I was a little kid when The Waltons was on so I don't remember much about the show, but I distinctly remember that Grandma Walton had a stroke in real life and, rather than writing her out of the show, they kept her on and we got to see her struggle to regain what she'd lost. I remember it being heartbreaking to watch the frustration on her face when she struggled to get words out and (I might be misremembering this) needing a cane to get around. As a kid it taught me a lot in very subtle ways about the fragility of life, perseverance, and mortality. Also, the cake looked great!

I love the waltons too. One of my favorite episodes war the homecoming a Christmas story . In that movie Olivia is gathering ingredients for her applesauce cake and grandma said its got to much nutmeg in it for her taste.

Lori when my son moved out, he wanted to know the secret to keep the dishes clean while cooking. I told him to fill his sink with very hot soapy water. As you use dishes and are through with them put them in the sink. As you get time wash them. He was amazed at his success. I had tough him how to cook over the summer between seventh and eighth grade. Now he is a very good cook.
I struggle making pound cake and just had my first success, I think I had been under mixing them, but now I know. I put them in 2 bread pans and they were delicious. I'm a Mennonite and my husband is Amish we keep the old Mennonite and Amish way. I love cooking big breakfast and lunch and dinner for my family. I love making homemade breads and pizza crust and pasta and pizza sauce and pasta sauce and butter and baked goods. My kids love when I make homemade ice cream and soda and hot chocolate for them.

Your cake looks so delicious. I too wanted to live with the Walton’s. I watched them growing up in UK. we only had 3 tv channels back then. I live in USA now for 35 years but I still love to watch the Walton’s Happy memories. ❤️❤️❤️
