SOUND SOUND SOUND, what about performance? Do you have a comparison of dyno runs? I am not a big fan of 2-1 LOOKS, but I have been very impressed with the performance of my old ThunderHeader, I would be interested in another 2-1 based on performance.
This wasn't a shoot-out. It was a comparison. J&P would never do a real shoot-out cuz they would get crossed with the other three manufacturers that didn't come in as #1 on the dyno. Used to be 15-20 years ago that magazines and publishers used to do unbiased and fair tests to see which carb, exhaust system, cams etc. gave the best performance. Those days are long gone.
Sound is subjective ( much like we all like different music) so everyone has a favourite. For me the best exhaust (2:1) is missing from this line up….and that’s the Bassani road rage 2
Hi. Excellent video, thanks for making it. I watched the install videos of each and is it true the only option to preserve the rear foot peg is the Cobra? Regards.
Wish you could have done a Dyno comparison... for which one actually adds performance... After all, you state, "...looking for a performance upgrade..." (smile)
Can't really say that I do just yet since I just got it late fall and didn't had enough time to ride but, it sounds better than the stock pipes. I hope to be able to ride a lot this coming season
Right ! So looks and sound doesn’t always equate to performance. Actually could harm performance if not tuned correctly. D&D does have a track of outperforming other brands . For example Zippers Performance recommends them and includes them in their Harley performance kits .
Be cool to set up a same configuration and displacement but in a two stroke. Basically the same look but no push rod tubes. Lots of close cooling fins. A two stroke is always in new oil. Sure be a unique sound from V twin. I think an electrical cut out valve at pipe Y for when you want some rumble. Make it so it doesn’t look like its there. Mild to wild with a button on the bars.
How much stuff do I have to change when I switch over to that exhaust I have to change 02 sensors programming and all that no balance off my maps and all that do I have to do all that or could I just put it out and have a nice day
looking at the specs on the S&S site, this one increases the torque, and that is what you want. you have the same torque at lower rpm or more torque at any given rpm. I run currently a stock Sport Glide and I hunt BMW GS in the mountains with my torque. I can lean less in the corners, but I compensate with good aiming and torque. I would choose the S&S as torque beats noise (on the long run). The volume of an exhaust body is an indicator how low you can get the tone.
Are you asking the difference between 2 into 1 and 2 into 2? If so, 2 into 1 helps extract the exhaust better and provides the back pressure to increase performance beyond that of a 2 into 2, both horse power and torque. It really helps responsiveness too.
None of these. They are all too small for optimum flow. You want bigger stepped primaries with a race inspired merge collector and a flow to match muff. I have the S&S for a 116HP 114ci. But a 150HP 131ci wants a bigger better pipe. Thrashin, Horsepower Inc, D&D, and shortly Fuel Moto Jackpot Riot, for big displacement, power, softails.
@@vernlochtefeld1626 I am using the Vance and Hines Pro-pipe and I am quite happy with the results. Sounds good to me and has more than enough performance for my needs.

This particular pipe is not available in CA. The passenger peg clears the pipe no problem.
