    always unplug the battery first before removing screen cable...you can damage the fuse on the motherboard

    Thanks a lot. I did it. It took around 2 hours but eventually it worked exactly as you described. Let me share a few notes:
    1. Pay attention that screen screws are of a different size. 3 of them are the same but one is slightly longer
    2. Be very careful for not leaving fingerprints on the screen. It is almost impossible so consider putting a "condom" in a form of some plastic bag on top of it immediately after you lifted it up. Cleaning the screen by a dry towel is a very time consuming process. Took for me a lot of time
    3. My replacement digitizer that I purchased on eBay had a noticeably bigger bus cable (the one that has two connectors attached to it). So it was a pain in the butt to fit it inside. Eventually that was the only problem. I was not able to attach the digitizer tightly in the place were cables were connected. It is not very easy to notice but still it does not feel attached the same tight as original glass.
    4. On a bright note it was relatively easy to disconnect the old digitizer. I did not have much pain with that. My old digitizer was cracked and It was harder than on video to extract it as glass was separated by cracks but still it was easier than I thought it would be.
    One more time. Thanks a lot. That video was more than helpful.

    Watched this video on replacing my ipad air screen (or digitizer as I now know) as it was the one with the clearest instructions. I used a hair dryer as I didn't have a heat gun and I tested it all worked before I heat sealed the digitizer down. But I must say, a fantastic "how to" video which enabled me to do the job myself and save around £55 on labour. If you want to have a go yourself, watch THIS video. Also don't scrimp on the tools, I bought a cheap set off ebay and they were rubbish!

    Great video! I like the close up shots which is a big help. At the moment I am trying to lay the digitizer screen back over the lcd screen BUT the cables on the edge of the digitizer screen do NOT want to tuck down into the crack on the edge. They are applying pressure upward. Any suggestions? I do not want to break the cable or the screen I am not sure how much bending they can take. I double checked and they appear to be plugged in properly. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. 🙂

      Yes yes, paper towels may contain hard abrasive particles that may scratch the fine coating on your LCD screen.
      But in all fairness, we've cleaned a tonne of LCDs over the years, and when your trusty microfiber cloth is all completely gunked-up, a clean paper towel and a bit of alcohol is the next best thing once in a while.

    Thank you a million! I had a question about the Vaio SVD112 DUO screen; I have one, and unfortunately, some sticky liquid is leaking, I think it is crystal liquid, but is it possibile to separate the digitizer from LCD carefully and clean this viscous liquid? Honestly, I don't know what the problem is, and also I wonder why that sticky liquid does not exist, for example, between the digitizer and the LCD of this IPad? Thank you in advance for your response.

    • @Laptopscreen
      @Laptopscreen  8 месяцев назад +1

      The liquid crystal solution is definitely not viscous. It needs to be well free-flowing to reorient crystals contained in it very fast on-demand to shutter the light to each individual pixel. In our experience, viscous liquids found in laptops/tablets are usually food related: pop, wine, juice. Sugary solutions become viscous after evaporating most of their water.

    • @Laptopscreen
      @Laptopscreen  8 лет назад +2

      No not at all! You can call it the heat pistol, heat device, heat exhauster, warm air source or even the heaterthingamajig, the possibilities are endless!
      You can also use a hair drier. The principle behind the action of heating the front of the digitizer is to loosen the glue. You don't have to use any heat at all - but the broken pieces of the digitizer will take longer to remove because they'll be harder to come off. There are also microwavable heat bags that some techs use to apply heat, but I've never tried them.

      In most cases such parts can be acquired on eBay for a few dollars, however the installation may require gutting the entire device.
      We likely won't make a tutorial for that since we only supply screens, but an iFixit tear down would be a good start when preparing for such a job.

    I personally think you should start on the left side. Because all of the cables are on the right. Also if you are reusing your home key ribbon cable, it is on the right side and you should be very careful on that side. I mean a xcto knife would ruin your home button cable. I almost cut mine. So be careful on the RIGHT SIDE. The other 2 cables are ok since you are replacing them anyway.
    After that and getting the camera bracket it's a easy repair. Take your time. Another thing sometimes on your replacement glass. There is a inside protective film. Make sure to remove it right at the point of closing up the screen. There are 2 films, but of course remove the outer film.

    What happens if you don't use a heat gun?

      Then your glass shatters all over the place.

      Jetcalistic Jo a powerful hair dryer but you have to make sure you get the screen really hot or it will shatter into billions of pieces, literally.

    Is it gonna reset everything if you replace it?

    • @Laptopscreen

      +PatriciaPlays Vlogs No, replacing an LCD and a touchscreen on the iPad is like replacing a computer monitor - computer remains the same - all your data, photos, videos, documents and apps remain unchanged.

      @@Laptopscreen but mine won't I don't know why, I made sure all the cables are connected and all the screws are in the right place but when I try to turn it on or connect it to itunes nothing happens I think the logic board might have died when I was replacing the digitizer

      I am looking for iPad Air digitizer and the LCD screen. Looks like you are out of stock. Where and what do you recommend to be bought?

    You forgot to unplug the battery just in case and one of the screws (top right I believe) is longer than the others so put it back where you unscrewed it from or risk breaking some internals

    Use a pick to run along the edge. Use a piece of plastic to wedge it so it wont stick. Actually uses a piece of plastic to run along the edge and a pick as a wedge. My head explodes.
