      U don’t need to wet bed just makes it abit easier and a safety net really. Extra materials tho. think I have done a wetbed handful of times in 25 years of painting.. can achieve the same job with proper gun control/ tacking/ and flashing between coats.. great video and lovely job tho doesn’t really matter how u get there watever makes u feel most comfortable.

    Dude this video is awesome! My 1989 CRX and my 1999 Prelude have those slight scratches from previous work. Guess they didn't use 320 grit. Also my hood got cracks and fish eyes after they painted. And it chipped easy.

      I watched the video not sure what your referring to? The reduction wether it's 2:1 or 1:1 depends on what brand binder your using. Folloe the technical data sheet. I am currently using speed coat color blender, I like to reduce that about 10%

    How would this wet-bed method work with single stage acrylic enamel? I've got some minor tiger striping in one area I'd like to correct without repainting the whole panel.

    • @GarageNoise
      @GarageNoise  10 месяцев назад

      It doesn't work like that with single stage . Single stage is made to spray wet like clear, a wet bed is mainly to eliminate mottling in a blend. Stiping in single stage can be caused by too much air pressure, inconsistent overlap on your passes or a gun that may have an inconsistent spray pattern maybe from a some dried paint in the cap or something. Sometimes on single stage if you spray a drop coat right after the last coat you can even out those metallics without effecting the finish but there's no real good way to get rid of tiger stipes after the paint job without re-painting. Sigle stage metallics can be Sometimes more difficult to spray that base metallics. Appreciate your comment hope this helps.

    Hi bought a new Sagola 3300 you featured on your channel seem to be getting lot of orange peel how can tell if clear is going on to thick orange peel doesnt seem appear until paint is dry.Great content Thanks

    • @GarageNoise

      What air pressure are you spraying at? After you make you first pass take a look at the texture of the clear in the light. Dial you volume back a bit or up you air pressure up a bit. Not too much this should smooth it out.

    • @GarageNoise
      @GarageNoise  2 года назад

      Yes, but 1k doesn't build up quite like 2k so you will sand thru the primer quickly. Thanks for the comment!

    My Roadrunner needs alot of sanding. I'm using a DA with 80 grit but it takes awhile. Can a polisher be used, carefully of course?

    • @GarageNoise
      @GarageNoise  2 года назад +1

      Yes there are some other tools you can use, like a larger orbital sander with a coarse grit sand paper like 40 or 36. You want to be careful about heating the surface too much and warping the panel. A orbital sander is less likely to over heat metal like a rotary will. Thank's for watching!

    • @GarageNoise
      @GarageNoise  2 года назад

      Typically around 4inches but it varies depending how fast I'm moving. A guideline is 4-6 , it's all about how the clear is laying down. Great questions thanks for watching!

  • @bobbydelamar606
    @bobbydelamar606 2 года назад +2

    So you sanded the clear that got blended? Then some new base coat got sprayed over that clear that was left? Then clear on top, is that right, and does that make it thick. Sorry just trying to understand.
