    My favourite gag when visiting friends with new Alexa is to ask if they enabled purchase protection then quickly follow up with 'Alexa, buy a Ferrari' .. Never fails!🤣🤣

    Reminds me of the XKCD where the guy says "Alexa, order 10 tons of creamed corn. Alexa, confirm purchase." when entering someone's house.

    We had a really unpleasant customer when I worked in bookies. Every single time he was asked for Id. It drove him mad. Petty revenge.

    I had to look up "off-license"; in the US we just call 'em 'liquor stores' (barring a few bits of weird, local slang).
    ...though, personally, I think they should be called "stupormarkets".

      Interestingly most of Canada uses “liquor store” but people from the Prairies sometimes use “off-sale”. I personally always heard off-sale used as meaning a bar that can also sell stuff for offsite consumption

      @@casey6556 One weird regionalism I've heard in the US is "Packy Store" or 'Package Store'.
      I asked why they called it that but the answer didn't stick; I think it was really dopey, whatever the explanation was.

      @casey6556 Год назад

      @@BionicDance I believe it has to do with the fact that in at least some US states, “package” is a term for alcohol sold in boxes or six packs or whatever (as opposed to single cans or an on-premises glass at a bar)

    Anybody who's worked in retail and had to card everyone has had people go ballistic only to have their ID on them the whole time. An utterly bizarre phenomenon. "Can't you see my grey hair???!" We all can, Janet. Time for a touchup. I had a guy from Florida who always showed his concealed carry permit instead of his license so he could rub in the fact that he has/could have a gun on him. He screamed 'It IS an ID!!!!' at me, and eventually got out said license. Every. Time.

    Shit like this and other things I've heard about confirms my plan to NEVER buy one of those machines. I don't care if it is a Siri, Alexa, or by some other name. If one of those comes into the house. Two seconds later it is leaving the house in small pieces.

      I think in this case, the guy is in buying booze every day, showing ID every day even though they already know he's the right age... I don't blame him for getting frustrated but they probably have to ask for ID by law.

  • @lauragarnham77
    @lauragarnham77 Год назад +1

    Well if I went somewhere EVERY DAY and was still being asked for my ID I'd probably be a bit pissed off too (though I wouldn't be aggressive liike that) ... I mean, come on, you really don't remember me!? I guess she has to ask because its a legal requirement...but when you know the person that does seem ridiculous and unneccessary.
