    In this video, I want to talk about the printing problems Lego Marvel needs to really sort out. I'm starting to get annoyed that Lego doesn't give superheroes the printing they deserve, which makes the figures in the set look cheap in comparison to the CMF and even other themes like Star Wars.
    I used a lot of footage from ‪@TiagoCatarino‬ so please go and check out his review video a lot with all the other people featured in this video :)

    I one thousand percent agree! Seriously, it always frustrates me that Lego is so negligent towards leg print or even dual molded legs. They can pull out the stops for creating new molds and face printing, but you can't bother to give a character leg detailing? Lmao.

    It’s fine when we don’t get leg printing on characters it makes sense for, there are tons of them. But when a character does need it and doesn’t get it, it just feels bad to all of us.

    I honestly think it depends on the figure for me. I think reusing leg prints between three characters (like Falcon, Black Widow and Hawkeye) is perfectly fine, because none of them have particularly distinct outfits below the waist. They pass off as the character very well. But a character like Green Goblin from the No Way Home final battle needs specific leg printing for him to look right.

    Why can’t we cmf quality minifigures in sets that cost hundreds of dollars.
    Like moon knight in the marvel cmf is just incredible, printing, dual molding, for only five bucks

    And then Star Wars fans claim to be the most oppressed group by LEGO I even saw one comment saying “it’s crazy how LEGO gives a waist cape to a side character that barely has screen time (refering to scarlet which) Instead of a beloved clone commander (refering to fox who only has 5 mins of screen time)

    I absolutely love this new channel and I agree, the lack of detailed minifigures released by LEGO really drives the custom minifigure market. Another example is the new Ronan the Accuser minifigure, which is just such a downgrade compared to the previous 2014 version…

    Marvel minifigs are what got me back into lego as an AFOL and the plain legs have been bothering me for a while now as well. Green goblin is a particularly egregious example, especially as his torso print is very "busy", which combined with the bright green colour, makes the plain legs stand out even worse. I'm amazed we didn't get a purple hood piece for him as well.
    Black Panther is the main one that repeatedly gets denied leg printing and visually really suffers for it. Gorr was a really bad one-off - he could have had a printed dress piece and even a white minifigure lowered hood (like the Quidditch ones), instead the plain legs and arms just look so poor.
    Check out the 2023 Ninjago minifigure selection. All the main characters (heroes, villains, and even the villains' henchmen) have brilliant hip and leg printing, and some have printed arms and bespoke, printed headgear as well. You are correct, they could do better with the Marvel ones, but someone is deciding not to, unfortunately.

    I think leg printing matters way more then arm printing, like imagine if we always had arm printing on iron man instead of like Brandon, it’d look so damn weird

  • @mrmola3295
    @mrmola3295 10 месяцев назад +3

    As an action figure collector, you always expect the newer version of a figure you buy, to be better than the older one. Better paint, better articulation, more detailed sculpt etc. And most of the time thats what you get. Lego minifigures on the other hand have no sculpt or extra articulation, so there is no way to improve them apart from full arm and leg printing. In 2023, arm and leg printing should be mandatory really.

    It really sucks that when they decide to cheap out on details, it's for characters that won't likely get made again. Once the No Way Home set retires, it could be a really long time before that Electro, Green Goblin, and Doc Ock gets remade even though it is probably on track to be on shelves for years like the first Razor Crest.

    Personally, having leg or arm prints is great, but I honestly don't mind plain black legs, because then they’re not locked for one specific character only.
    And since I like mix and match and do my own custom minifigures, having pieces, that works for everyone is great

    Completely agree, for the prices they charge and for it being a main flag ship franchise the quality of minifigures in especially large sets is appalling. For both star wars and marvel I don't know why they can't give clones waist capes and Marvel characters leg printing and extra prints.

    This is why Ive begun to not wait for LEGO to release figures for characters that I like, because I was super excited for the NWH Goblin figure, since I loved Willem’s performance so much, and it came out so underwhelming. A gripe I’ve always had is Captain America’s only minifigure with leg prints is his zombie version, so I have to decide which of my Cap Minifigures gets the luxury of the arms and legs from my spare Captain Carter. My guess is in the @ tower they gave Hawkeye the generic head rather than the CMF is because AoU Clint is younger than his Hawkeye series counterpart, which is why they chose the generic head

    I think it was Ashton flash that talked about the mini figures, but what he said is that they have A thing where they only can bring a certain amount of printed pieces, so like the torso is obviously going to be used and wherever they can find shortcuts to using previous printed pieces is how they help with cost from my memory if they use like printing or arm printing, it’s either reused from somewhere, or the minifigure was too special

  • @benchborner

    It’s insane to me that LEGO Star Wars has normalized leg printing so much that they’ve moved onto wider-spread inclusions of toe and arm printing before considering standardizing leg printing across themes like Marvel. It’s so unfortunate that Star Wars has not received a CMF series, however I’d argue that many modern SW figures (like Bo Karan, Boba Fett, Captain Rex, Ahsoka, etc) are already CMF quality, with the only details “missing” being in the form of dual-molded pieces and cloth accessories. These inclusions have always been relatively unique to CMFs compared to any mainline LEGO set, so the fact that we’re so close to that level of premium quality in fairly cheap sets has definitely not gone unnoticed. It sucks to see SW getting praised for having the best year of minifig releases while Marvel hasn’t had that same level of love, but I’m hopeful that the positive response they’ve received is enough to tell LEGO they’re headed in the right direction!

  • @blazeazurin
    @blazeazurin 10 месяцев назад +1

    It is a big issue for me. I always have to make some sort of improvement on my Marvel figures when I get them. The most common ones I change are heads and legs.
    I mean is it so hard for Lego to give characters like Cap dual molded legs? It sucks that we have to do it ourselves when Lego has the perfect pieces in their inventory. They don't even need leg peinting half the time, just dual molded legs that already exist.

  • @scorpionflame6

    I deeply care about the marvel theme to bits
    But minifigure wise I’m not fussed on whether we get a full decked out figure
    The CMF’s are cool but recently I looked at my figures and went “they are fine as they are”
    I do think tho that for their biggest building yet the figures should have gotten the CMF treatment
    Ya know the ones who needed it like you said

  • @prons_gaming5083
    @prons_gaming5083 6 месяцев назад

    I absolutely agree with you. Especially since there's a disconnect between figures in the same set. In avengers tower alone, you have characters like vision and the iron man suits, the new loki(I'm not entirely sure if the loki is new with the printing,but it's very detailed regardless), and the new ultron. But then you also have figures like hawkeye, where the most special part about him is his hair and his bow, being the new ones from the cmfs. It just makes the set seem very unbalanced, as there are a couple really desirable minifigs and a bunch of lackluster ones.

  • @BricksandBuilds2011
    @BricksandBuilds2011 2 месяца назад

    I agree because when I first found out about hawkeyes new and apparently 'more accurate to jeremy renner' I was shocked as you can't have a police officer and hawkeye with the same face. Just adding a bit more detail can change the overall quality of a minifigure.

    This video is basically everything I’ve said a million times before on Instagram and been criticized for.
    The Marvel theme is more about the characters than it is anything else. And for someone like myself, I’d just like to collect the figures to be able to have a nice collection of good looking MCU characters to display. But when the figures from the sets look lazy, cheap and/or like they’re from a set from 5+ years ago, I don’t even bother.
    Clearly, like you said in the video, LEGO has a misplaced focus on what is the most important part of a LEGO Marvel set. I don’t know why they don’t see the massive success of the Hasbro Marvel Legends line and take a page out of that book. I honestly wouldn’t mind if LEGO made $10-$25 sets with smaller builds, or sometimes none at all, if they’d include figures in the set that were even half as good as the CMF ones

Especially in a set like the Stark tower, I would’ve at least liked it if they had Kevin Feige and Stan Lee in a set considering Kevin Feige is the director but Stan Lee is long overdue he is the creator of Marvel if it weren’t for him there would be no Stark tower.

    I believe most Superheroes buyers are kids whereas Star Wars fans are mostly grown-ass adults who are prone to complaining a lot. The goal of the Superheroes team is different from the team working on Star Wars. Sure, there are adults buying Superheroes of course, including me with at least 1/3 of my collection are Marvel sets alone, but I can bet a majority of sales from that line are from people buying them as gifts for kids to play with. As such, the goal of Superheroes is to please younger Lego fans who will always be happy to build and customize their own characters to play with, not the accuracy-purity-driven nature of collecting by adults who knows what they should be getting with their money. There is no younger generation of Star Wars fans, as obviously evident by the lack of interest in Sequel Trilogy sets even from Lego. Prequel and OT fans are all in their 20's at least now. For us, you'd better give me printed legs or I'll sue the heck out of you, or Cancel Culture gets put into motion. While this set is labelled as 18+, the only thing that's 18+ about that is the price. The entire project was still driven by the same goal as the team developing a Superheroes set and targeted at the same audience: younger collectors. A wrong Separatist droid appearing in the wrong Star Wars set immediately draws flak from the masses, but the wrong character in a Superheroes set is still acceptable because we all know accuracy is not a priority especially for the targeted market. Either way, let's just be grateful we even got Vision here, don't see how he'll be appearing in any other set.

    Idk your argument about Scarlett witch is just okay to ke considering that she does have an incredibly detailed version of her in the first cmf, with leg printing, waist printing, dual molded arms, and an, at the time new, hairpiece. Clone troopers get leg printing but no arm prints, no dual molding, no waist printing, no side leg printing, and no cloth peices and for the most part we dont get alternate versions of the same type of clone in otger sets. Like we will probably never see those purple clones again or at least for a long time. And you can argue that that version of wanda should be used in ever version of her but we have the same issue in star wars where the UCS gunship comes with mace windu with no arm printing but the republic tank version of him has arm printing. Most theams have varying qualities of the same figure. I do agree that it is an issue but i dont think its a marvel specific issue, i actually think marvel has a lot of really awsome figures. I just think that all of lego should be doing leg printing at this point. Even with city at this point, we should be getting jeans, track pants, shorts khaky pants and more with pocket details, dual molded legs with shoes and boots, and we should be getting these in standard sets not just minifigure packs. And itd doesnt have to be for every character but it should be a lot more than what it is.
