    J E S U S! 1000 yards? With that set up? SHEESH! Definitely proves, it’s the person behind the weapon that proves to be most effective! God bless!

    5.56 is a lot more capable than most people think. There's a segment that Travis Haley talks about his Najaf rifle in Iraq and using it up to around 700-800m. He did mention how surprised he was and he never really took the 5.56 to those ranges before. Now it is a 20" with 77gr. This however, m855 out of a 16" at 1000 yards is on another level!😂

    Nice. I managed to take the same optic out to 600 with cheap 55gr .223 through my 18.5" brn-180 recently. Granted it was a whole lot easier with my 20" 6arc and 3-9x40

    He's a RUclipsr - Mountains, Mullets, Merica: He started with a 14.5" barrel - "How Far?" Range Distance: 400, 580, 790, and 1040 yards. Mounted: Vortex Razor 1-10x with a 77 gr projectile the results are as follows: yardage 400 (5/5), 580 (9/10), 790 (6/4), 1040 (2/4:6). Reason 600 was so hard was that’s where the bullet goes trans sonic. Stability of bullets go to crap at this point.

    • @FlatlanderGear

      That might be the case but I have a feeling it goes transonic a little farther than that…

    Poverty pony, 400$ optic, generally considered to be mediocre ammo and you hit a target at 1000. This really does prove that it really is the Indian and not the arrow.

      With practice you will!
      On cursory glance, the Vortex ones need some updates. The Burris ones fare better but I’m a bit of a Holoshill. I’d go for the H but I might review a Razor, Venom, or Viper for fun and might be pleasantly surprised.

    (I think a previous comment of mine was shadow-erased by youtube or something)
    The 5x vortex is looking great. I'm using an LPVO but man does that thing turn a handy .22 caliber rifle into a weapon heavier than grampaw's M1 Garand. I also don't want to pay more for an optic with a worse reticle and eye relief (ACOG).
    Moreover, green tip ammo Aero Precision barrel? But, but, but, the internet hive mind said I needed at least 77 grain OTMs and Criterion/Craddock/Proof Research barrels, otherwise I would be kilt in the streets!
    I jest of course. Those would help but wow, 1-0-0-0 yards?!! The main sticking point I have with the Spitfire is the 1 MOA adjustments. The coarse adjustment really isn't that bad, huh?

    • @FlatlanderGear
      @FlatlanderGear  2 года назад

      Yep, this is why I haven't been using LPVOs as much lately. Their balance is fine but you can't do volume shooting and moving quite as much as something with half the weight.
      And yeah, though 75-77gr stuff is inherently more accurate at range, the heavier stuff only stays supersonic for 100 more yards than the 62gr SS109. They will hit about the same by the time you are at 1000 yards. A nicer barrel and proper optic will bring you closer to a 1st round hit however.
      The 1MOA isn't the end of the world but you need to start playing with the tension of the mount. I made it work and trued the windage as 300 this way and still stayed true, but it helps to have 1/4-1/2-MOA clicks.
