Personally,,you did a great job at explaining the importance of taking it slow being aware of your bodies reaction to the cold or breath work, and all other practices and being aware of how that lends to your feeling there after, and to make slow small adjustments to fit my personal desired effects, sometimes its hard for us to absorb all of what teachers are implying and only accidentally soak up what is heard on the surface to fit their wants , I've been there and slowly learned to listen closer and within, with your guidance

    Great post!
This internal awareness has been the most important benefits of introducing these practices you’ve mentioned.
During my morning time of prayer I practice interoception / exteroception by recognising God in my life and His work in it.

You are good bro, and an amazing person. These things also rely on a level of common sense. And it's also up to the person to meet the info you give, half way in the middle. Anyhow. Thanks man. Keep up the great work

Hey Jesse, it's really good to hear you say this. I've always found you very responsible and grounded: when I took your course ages ago, I remember you emphasising breathwork effects everyone differently, and you've always cautioned against the "do this and never get sick again" style of "wellness."

As an Athletic development coach training programmes are periodised. You build in recovery and tapering along with training emphasis. Without the recovery adaption will struggle to take place and overtraining will lead to a dimished immune system and mental fatigue, possibly leading to depression. Keeping a balance and a menu of training that provides the wellbeing we seek is a art and comes through the experience of practice. Go hard or go home I would suggest is not the most balanced attitude. Its the problem with the internet with the loudest voices getting the most attention. Be gentle and smart, listen to your body and follow what feels good and sustainable.

I started WHM over a year ago and first it was just the breathing. After 6 weeks i added a full load of exercises and cold showers starting at 15s and working up to 3m. Did the full routine for 4 months and I was getting sick more often and getting hit harder than usual by the illnesses. Also, I was crazy exhausted every day. 8-9 hours of sleep couldn't keep up with my routine. After those 4 months, I gave up the cold showers because it was just too much. Still haven't gone back to the cold showers, but I hope to some day when my body can handle it.

@brandonjackson1434 I did not put 2 and 2 together. Last spring/summer we did have a small but very real mold problem coming from the drain tube off our AC. Maybe I'll go back to the cold training sooner rather than later. Thanks!

all of these health practices are beneficial but they are protocols. just like medicine something's you do not use all them all the time without a knowing the intention or indication that you need them! should I do this, should it be daily, weekly or once a year try it out yes but seek knowledge, seek advice ,seek out teacher or practitioner thanks Jesse

This is tough. I need a routine to stick to my program and if I choose to miss parts of my routine then the whole thing is in jeopardy of collapsing. I don't feel like working out today. In fact I rarely am excited before exercise. Is this my body telling me not to work out? It would be easy to use that as an excuse not to. I guess the answer is to cycle modalities to make sure I'm not overdoing it, but this complicates things quite a bit.

Great comment! I would say that the thing to focus on is why you are choosing the items in your routine. This is because what you are talking about is the difference between motivation and state of recovery. Sometimes when we aren't motivated, we can trick ourselves into believing we aren't physically ready to train. However, if you remember your "why," you will know if it is state or motivation. Big hugs!
