    this is another awesome one man! very well explained and great pointer on the split screen! this is a perfect example of leveraging both 2D and downvue because downvue seems to be better at highlighting and separating out fish, where as the 2D (IMO) does a better job showing hard bottom. great content!

    This is an extremely beneficial series that has been needed for years. GREAT JOB. Got a newbie question for you though. Seeing as down imaging is so much more detailed, why do anglers use them both instead of just down imaging? I see no benefit of using 2D when one shows you a better, clearer picture of what's going on! Just my 2cents.

    • @MGMarineTech
      @MGMarineTech  Год назад +1

      Thank you and great question.
      I see a huge benefit from running both for a couple of reason.
      1 running both side by side will teach you exactly what you are looking at on both types of sonar
      2 running both acts as a system of checks and balance
      3 most and importantly, objects will appear bigger on 2d and stand out much better than DI small fish might just be a tiny spec on DI. So you can see them on 2d better and then verify what you are seeing on DI

I can see them with forward facing Live Scope taking off in all directions before I even get close to them. I will try the dual screen Idea, I had not thought of that to check down imaging and 2D. Hello,
    Hope you are doing well.. I want to get your opinion on my set up.
    I got 93sv plug with GT54 on port side and 93 UHD GT56 on starboard
    side. Because of the small transome and trimtabs in the way.
    I plan to install both transducers toward the outside of the transome.
    5 inches from the edge of the transome. ( wish I can show you the picture)
    Do you think this set up would work?
    Thank you.
    Garmin note ( don't run transducer wires next or near the trolling motor wore or the house wires.

      @MGMarineTech  2 года назад

      Hi Dan. I would just run the gt56 and network the two units. Then they will both be able to see the gt56.
      The 56 can do everything the 54 can plus sooo much more.
      As far as mounting it. You are more than welcome to send me pictures on my Facebook page and I can give you my opinion

  • @rolandpace3147
    @rolandpace3147 2 года назад

    A little off topic.. I have my transducer on the back of my boat,I was told I could add another gt54 to the front (trolling motor) with a Y cable and run both gt54's to my 73 sv. But I would have to switch back and forth from one transducer to the other because they won't both work at the same time? He said they would interfere with each other. He said there is a cable that would allow me to switch back and forth from each transducer?

    • @MGMarineTech
      @MGMarineTech  2 года назад

      To do this, you would just have to run both cables upto the unit. And then pick and choose which one you want to run.
      There is no y cable that does this,
      There is a switch by “madd gar” that allows you to hook up two different transducers to 1 unit and switch back and forth with the flip of a switch. But you can’t run both at the same time with one screen.
      You could however run two with two screens and then network them and pick and choose which transducer you wanted to look at.

    • @MGMarineTech
      @MGMarineTech  2 года назад

      Well there’s a couple of options here. Have you downloaded the maps tiles for the areas you want to have the more detailed maps? And have you synced them to your unit with ActiveCaptain?
      The other option is that the lake just isn’t covered.
      Either way you can use QuickDraw contours and you can make your own custom maps of that like with 1’ contours. I did a video on the subject that covers it in depth.

    • @MGMarineTech
      @MGMarineTech  2 года назад

      On this style combo, with down imaging and 2d sonar the frequencies don’t conflict being that they are so far apart.
      This also only applies to transducers that can run side and down imaging at the same frequency, some can, some Cant.
