Bobby Keys was the go to guy if you needed a Sax player .He show up at the studio whoever and they would tell him what they wanted and he'd do it in one take. That's how good he was.He also played not with the Rolling Stones but backed up many of artist..to many to mention here .Bobby like to party and sometimes it got him into trouble with the Stone but hey it was the 70s .Rip Bobby
Bobby K as good as rock and roll sax gets. Honestly rock guitarists started out playing the parts that normally would have been played on sax in blues and jazz songs
one of my musical highlights in my 64 yrs was seeing bobby with mick taylor in small club east LI 30yrs bac k. Locals had to cop everything they cd get to get them to play. Except for MT drooling was one of the greatest musical displays ive ever seen. Was 10ft away. Just the 2 of them. They didnt need anything else. taught me how to use a les paul wo anything just the tone , volume and PU sele3cteor. Bobby was epic. Lucey enough to see him in 89 shea stadium show. Saw Stones 2x in 75 but keys was not there. Fired after 73 europe according to stories. He was in tub filled with dom perigon and hooker in paris when Richards went to summon him, "show time" and BK said Eff off. Jagger cut him until 89 tour when KR apparently made Jagger bring him back as condition to tour
This is a good show in Rio but the show in St Louis was much better and Bobby Keys hits some truly remarkable levels on the SAX. Check that show out on YT
