Ну так он и считался лучшим белым блюзистом!
When Rolling Stone left him out of their 100 greatest guitar players list, I understood that I know more about music than they do.
That list was for guitar players not guitar gods.
But seriously a list was compiled once of the greatest jazz drummers. There was no Art Taylor, Art Blakey or Tony Williams. Those lists are rubbish.
Blaspheme !

I have no idea why anyone gives a flying rats ass what Rolling Stone has to say at all anymore. They haven't been relevant in 20 years. Nothing they print or post is valid.

Me once again
Many years ago, I played a small pub gig in Northampton and one of our songs was Still Got The Blues. During the song, this odd looking woman stood about 2 feet in front of me just watching and swaying with the music. I thought she was nuts! Anyways, after the set, she came over and introduced herself as Gary Moore's sister in law. Her sister was Donna! She told me the story of how she met Gary. She was shacked up with a famous drummer who used to beat her up. Gary told her to move into his flat and have his bed whilst he slept on the sofa. She ended up introducing him to her sister who Gary fell madly in love with. When she ran off with the Gary Holton from Auf Wiedersehen Pet, it broke his heart and he never got over her. She told me Gary would have been proud of my solo during SGTB. I cried that night as Gary was my biggest hero and to have such nice comments from someone who knew him so well was the biggest highlight of my career.

Maybe David Gilmour , RIP Gary ,
What I cannot get over is that whenever a guitar player shreds, it gets boring very soon and you hit the point of feeling “enough.” Gary is one of those amazing players that you just never want to stop playing. It’s like a blissful journey through the sea of human emotions.

Gary Moore was one of the few musicians in the world who could let his guitar sing the chorus.
So true. Well said.
And he sang from his soul.
Mark Knopfler does it too. He can't sing, so he let's his guitar do the singing. Don't get me wrong, Gary Moore can definitely sing
An absolute master at his craft!

Flew to Paris, went to the Latin Quarter in the evening, put on my iPod headphones, started walking the streets, listening to this song over and over again and reminiscing about the days when my dear wife hadn't yet succumbed to breast cancer ..... and we used to stroll along the Parisian walkways together. It was a simple act, but it felt like pure ecstasy. Rock in peace Gary Moore, and thank you for helping me recover my loving memories.

I'm truly sorry for your tragic loss. My only consolation has always been the music that reminded me of the loving, happy memories; shielding me against the bottomless depths of sorrow and the unbearably painful dimensions of loss. Your son (bless his soul) had great taste in music. May you, too, always walk in peace, and be able to celebrate the happier moments of his existence.

Eric Clapton is a joke. Gary is God
Sorry but i dont care about Clapton too, not because the guitar playing, but the singing melodies!!
@@poppinandrottin No, don't get me wrong. EC sings well and he is a marvelous songwriter. But he's vastly overrated as a British guitarist. From that period, look at Jeff Beck, John Mclaughlin or Alan Holdsworth (a little later admittedly). He's in the same league as Jimmy Page at best. Not that good. Got a break and got famous.

Kind of Carkos Santana but different way...
I would have to say that Carlos Santana has nothing on the skillset of Gary Moore. Nothing against Carlos, you understand, he's a fine player, and I would actually venture to guess that he, too, admired the prowess of the late Mr. Moore.
More I see Gary more I love it!!! Really underrated, so sorry not anymore among us!!!

I know he's doing that, and he's fantastic, but in some ways this song was more about Phil Lynott. "Paris, 49" etc. Paris was his dads name, Phil was born in 1949.
But Gary was an absolute god of emotional guitar, no question.
@FallNorth yeah, Phil I believe wrote the lyrics. I was more referring to the guitar alone. So much feel. There is a great live performance of this with Phil too.
