- Jeff Beck is, of course, a guitar god.
Tal Wilkenfeld is also in a class entirely by herself, and she's only (I think) 21. I'm speechless. I'll stop typing now. Just watch this.
(The drummer is Vinnie Colaiuta, no slouch his own self.)
The songs are: "Cause We've Ended As Lovers" by Stevie Wonder (and often played by Jeff Beck) and "Big Block" from "Jeff Beck's Guitar Shop."
who ever voted a 'dislike' has a lot to learn when it comes to real musicianship. Go jeff !
Been playing bass 25 years, all styles of music. Tal is amazing... and she plays with Jeff Beck. Enough said.
Jeff Beck is a class act , I love how he shows off the talent in his band. The greatest guitarist never lost humility and gratitude.
8:28 for Jeff's "it's about to go down" face
This young Lady just rocks my socks off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I started out as a bassist in 1970 and in all my years I have never seen such natural talent!!! BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nobody has a chance with Jeff Beck in the house!!!! Jeff was ahead of his time. Never seen such perfection!!!!!!
this has to be the ultimate Jeff Beck performance. Jeff moved the stadium, heaven and earth when i saw this live. how lovely he continues to do so here on RUclips. thanks for posting this one. Tal's bass solo, superb. Vinnie C. drums awesome and Jason Robello's smile tells the rest of the story. Sblat, thank you for posting this awesome and inspiring performance. cheers!
ps...the little nod to Frankies House at the 4:54 mark....love that!
I last saw Mr. Beck at the Oakland Coliseum and the head liner was Stevie Ray Vaughn. Stevie walked out and said "that's a tough act to follow" and when they played together it was awesome.Stevie died about a month later. I'm thankful for being able to have seen that amazing show...
RIP Jeff Beck. A legend willing to help young musicians like Tal break into the business.
NOBODY is more qualified for that drum chair than Vinnie.
Listening to her play bass almost made me cry.
@Martin G a spontaneous exclamation
Same here an absolutely beautiful solo.
This is one of my favorite performances of all time. It blew my mind when I first saw it as a teenager, and it still blows my mind every time I watch it now at 32.
This is one that never gets old. The look of delight on Beck's face when Wilkenfeld steals this is golden.
Tal will keep the position of top bass player last long. Even blind studio musicians need this play even though many audience react to her cuteness at now. And the charm of her smile to enjoy performing will never change even if she'll be old.
fuck, a lot 'of feeling is there !
music is passion, feeling, style, soul and this melody have it !
thank´s for post it !
i can´t take my ears from it !
It truly blows me away to think Tal was a teenager at this showing of Her Talent !
OH MY GOD ... Tal is a goddess of bass. I love this!!! Thanks for posting!
Mr. Jeff Beck: The Lone Ranger of Modern Lyricism. The voice of his strings sums up the cry of the human spirit: in beauty, skill, sadness and hope. Just amazing, and awe inspiring! But I hear no prayer for him in his travels; no display of hope for him in his relationship with his wife, that they might grow old, hand in hand. There is a sad shallowness in the world today. And, sadly, as a result, we allow tyranny to gain the upper hand as evident in world events. So, all I can say is, Educate!
amazing, I've never realized that jazz music feel so good, til now!
My God, she's awesome!!
WOW!!!!!!The little princess of bass guitar!
Wonderful!Beautiful!Marvelous!Great player!!!
Long live!!!!!
JB's ability to get so many sounds from a guitar and his bare fingers never ceases to amaze me.
Truly Awesome!
Creative Attitude!!!
Amazing performance, Tal, Jeff and Vinnie simply great ...................i love it very much
I am 50 years old and have been listening to Beck since his days with the Yardbirds. OKAY, I was twenty when I started listening to the Yardbirds in 1981, my first year of college. I,m an old fart but I have always enjoyed Beck. I checked out this vid because Beck was on it...But...Tal is impressive. I hope she keeps the faith.
There's no way you can just "like" this. Speechless
Great vid , Guitar's Candy . Thank You !
Miss Wilkenfeld, I heard you on 6 String Theory and you were sublime! Respect.
Saw them 2 weeks before he died Simply Perfection !!!
WOW!!!! Way Impressed.. Great Job Tal!
bloody right you are. he knocked me out at this show.
Hard to believe that's a Stevie Wonder song. Talk Wilkenfied might end up being one of the greatest bass players of all time. I can't even imagine what she's guna sound like in 10-15 yrs.
Beck's a huge Wonder fan ...
Hard to believe that all of those songs that Elvis performed were written and performed long before Elvis by......... well, like Captain America said,-"son, just don't"
@ 5 yrs,,,,TalWilkenfeld.lnk.to/LoveRemains
I have this on DVD. I try to watch it at least once a month, just to get right.
One of the finest emotive bass solos I have heard
One of the most beautiful and unreal performances I have
ever seen and heard! Just perfect, great musicians having
tons of fun, I LOVE IT!
Three (of the many) times I've been proud to be Australian: 1. The success of the Sydney Olympic games. 2. The day I got my Australian citizenship. 3. The day I first heard Sydney girl Tal Wlkenfeld. Superb!
Jeff sound amazing. Tal and Vinnie are very tight. Great combination of musicians.
FUSION BLISS! This is the GREATEST video that I've ever seen on RUclips! This is my cup of coffee before work. And Tal Wilkenfeld? She is the perfect 'fusion' of talent and beauty.
awesome!!👌👌
Brilliant piece, can't deny it, incredible musicianship, Beck, Wilkenfeld and Colaiuta...Magnificent!
really beautiful performance jeff is an alien like every time and tal is so wonderful in spite of her young age! thanks jeff and tal..
So glad I got to see this live. My brother and I joined the EC fan club to get good seats. 3rd row, we get there and they've got this pit set up instead of the seating. But they gave entrance to the "pit" first come first serve. Wouldn't let us in. We were so pissed off. The whole "pit" thing has to stop.
Jeff is one of the musicians I can truly respect for wanting to change his lineup and approach to writing over courses of time. He had worked with Terry enough and they parted ways, for now. They still collaborate from time to time.
Just the best ever..I listen to them all night long..great music and fabulous entertainment! These two people are soul-mates for sure!!!
Tal wikenfeld is by FAR the best bass player on the planet! She is in a class all her own
And an Aussie 😊...
this, my friends is what you call supreme musicianship
Quel duo ! fantastique ! Merci
incredible.. omg the bass solo!!!!!!!!!!!
Opening with a McLaughlin Cover, Two Awesome Musicians. Massive Talent On That Stage. Jeff a musician's musician will be missed but never forgotten. This Concert Did a lot of cool stuff, Cobham etc. Loved Jeff's interpretations.
Watch 'Live at Ronnie Scotts'........more intimate! Brilliant Mr Beck, as always!
SO classic. Jeff Beck can make a guitar sound like nobody else. Not to mention his prodigy of a bass player. Keyboardist is right behind her too...
Those chops delivered by the drummer.. such groove.
magnificent duo-trio with the drummer
Amen! I saw this going on two years back and thought "who's the groupie, or is that Jeff's daughter". She astounded me, and still does. Jeff is in a group- Hendrix, Danny Gatton, Roy Buchanan- that make an electric guitar a part of the human soul. But Tal... I have no idea what universe she comes from. Off the charts.
Tal stole the show! And rightfully so ;)
This is the first time I saw Tal Wilkenfeld play. She is amazing. Jeff Beck is a guitar God.
If you ever played or dreamed of playing guitar, these are just the best chums you could have stood up with, thats just about as good as it gets
Mr Spud
Im amazed...just floored by her...she is sooooo good. she knows music.
Saying "The drummer is Vinnie Colaiuta, no slouch his own self." is like saying Albert Einstein was pretty good at multiplication tables.
You're right, dreamer, impressive!!
Thank you for your kind sharing!
;)
Positively brilliant guitar work.
Lo he escuchado tantas veces.....cada vez lo aprecio más....
Jeffs best band in a long time, wish he would go back with them.
I've updated the "video info." They played two songs: "Cause We've Ended As Lovers" by Stevie Wonder (and often played by Jeff Beck) and "Big Block" from "Jeff Beck's Guitar Shop."
What the video can't completely capture is that it had been a really hot sunny day, and the sun set and the heat was replaced by a nice cool breeze during this performance, which made the performance even more enjoyable.
Second part of this is Link Wray's "Rumble Man"!!
This Gal's got some skills!! Seriously, the career she's had so far....& she's like 23? On fire, I say!
Vinnie!!!! Massive talent & Jeff.....it's all been said before! LOVE this man's playing!
Was at this show in Bridgeview, Illinois that day, but Tal made it feel like Bass Heaven!
The song is "'Cause We've Ended As Lovers". Beck released this on his "Blow By Blow" album in 1976 or so...This song is written by Stevie Wonder! I was at this concert and I can tell you that Beck's set STOLE THE SHOW and that is saying something because the whole show - nearly 12 hours - was FANTASTIC. Get the DVD if you can. Also - how about Tal Wilkenfeld, the bassist? FANTASTIC!!! After this set the whole place was buzzing about "The Girl"....
amazing stuff!
So talented, this girl rocks!!
What a great rhythm section. Tal and Vinny Coliauta. I feel sorry for those who can't get past the fact a beautiful young woman can also play virtuoso bass.
She is awesome. I can't think of a better showcase.
great guitar tone and very smooth bass tone and tight sounding drums verry nice!!
seriously, how can you go wrong with one of the best guitarists, bassists, and drummers (vinnie colaiuta) ever?
great video
I love the easy smiles
exactly
Very well said!
Such a wonderful surprise!!! :)))
simply beautiful !!!!!
shes an animal!awesome to watch and listen to
"people don't know what's good" seems to include you then. She has fabulous timing, feel, skill, technique. She plays beautifully and supportively 'out of the way' when Jeff is playing, while launching a hair-raising solo whan required. She plays with controlled passion and so enjoys it too. Doesn't matter whether you like it, or me, she's brilliant and playing with Jeff. He obviously likes it.
Hauntingly beautiful .... :)) what a bass player
She is awesome. I can't think of a better showcase. And I am a Jeff Beck fan.
Yup! Vinnie Colaiuta played among the likes of Frank Zappa and Chick Corea. He's one of the most demanded drummers on the planet, and one of the all-time best. You're absolutely right! It's not just Tal and Jeff's show.
Vinnie is just incredible... what a dream team of musicians... :)
Vinnie ... my goodness ...what a monster!!!
all of them are such amazing musicians.
master and his apprentice !
awesome stuff...
Jeff you are without any shadow of a doubt class .
i really carnt wait to see jeff live in june =D
Yes jeff beck is a guitar god, no doubt about it most likely top ten all time, this song absolutley is one of the best live guitar performances. period
Thanks Jeff.
blah with you people pining away and arguing about nothing on every single video.
I have watched countless wooten, myung, and geddy videos, witnessed the mother ship of funk that is bootsy collins, i have spoiled myself by listening to bands like the mars volta, tool, and king crimson. but i have to say, tal's solo in this has inspired me as a bass player like few of the above could. which is saying something because they are god-heads to me. i get chills every time i hear her in this.
BRAVO!!
I'm going have to check out Amazon and buy this vid.!!!
awesome jazz duo!
Most talented woman I've ever seen...
SUPER BRUTAL!!
He is absolutely best,
he's guitar god!
Surrealist master with rhythm section born of the Gods.
