Sub 50. The dream. Just a couple of weeks ago I would have been ecstatic with a sub hour run. I'm able to skip getting maintenance now, thanks to an unbreakable assault rifle you can pick up on Med/Sci. A little bit of time to save on Hydro, I had another speed hypo death. Still getting used to new strats on the Rickenbacker. All in all, pretty decent run. -- Watch live at / spacebotany
Love the motivational hybrid at 12:18
Haha :D
You perform well ... For an in - iiin - sect!

"Well done. I'm uploading some more modules."
"T h a n k."
"DAMN!"
What a great speedrun, super impressive! I love this game but I cant navigate that fast let alone think that fast 🤣 I dont know how many times you have to play this game to know the quest/item/enemy locations like that, but it's a LOT! Kudos boss, that was a hell of a performance on a beautiful old game that still holds weight over 2 decades later. ❤😁👍
4:30 I just checked it out, apparently, an average adult uses 320 calories per day on mental processing. However that's a very loosely defined example of "thinking". For example, the majority of your brains energy is used automatically, for things like maintaining your heart rate, controlling your breathing, decoding all the sensory information your brain reads. So actual "thoughts" might use less.
I want a link for that info.
@@nastyyukari8861 I just googled it, and it was two months ago, so I can't remember the exact source.
Shodan throwing shade yet you're moving faster than she can berate
"Why do you move so slowly?"
My favorite line to hear in every speedrun, cracks me up
Very impressive mate. This or Dead Space 1 would have to be my all time faves.
love the sequence break on deck 1. i'm surprised they didn't come to think of that
Hell yeah, that improved leap of faith with relocation. So good! Great run, go on the same spirit, Nigel.
it felt so good to get that, especially first try. thanks evgeniy
28:08 Yeah, cybernetic modules are like little USB sticks of data lying around. And of course you could upload anything you want to through the internet, they have replicators and bio-reconstruction devices that make things from scratch!
Shame the video is so damn dark 😢 hard to see where he picks up the cyber modules..
Always like to watch a fellow comrade system shock 2 speedrunner ;) Good timing :D
Thx for the video, was nice to watch
What a show you put on screen, sir👌
so you beat that crazy hair guy's record by ten minutes. congrats. jk but seriously I thought it was someone else until I heard the voice. that time is so insane.
haha yeah, trying to get it lower too. sub 45 would be cool.
Great run!
“Glitchless” he says as he literally cuts through textures and grabs through walls.
You call the "glitches", I call them self-hypnotic defects in the R-grade unit.
chad
Polito demands that you move faster.
Wow. I am terrible at this game but watching this playthrough was fun!
can't you get the french-epstein device lying on the ground next to the corpse by sim unit 3 in ops to get faster maxed out assault rifle?
also i can't believe i haven't watched these glitchless speedruns till now, so much neat stuff that any% misses because it's slow when you're fully invincible and can go oob easily
That French-Epstein device isn't available on Impossible, unfortunately. Glad you enjoyed the run.
oh shit i didnt even know they restricted those in vanilla. thought restricting them based on difficulty was smth adaob started X)
Yeah, there's another one in a hackable crate on Hydro-D but that's also not available on impossible. It's the only type of item I've noticed does that, but then it's been awhile since I've played on lower difficulties.
waiting for new records
Why do you go so slowly? Do you think this is some kind of game? 💀
So much shots with assault rifle in 1/10 without jam...
When I originally did this, there was a specific assault rifle in the Med/Sci sub-armory that never jammed. There's also a shotgun and a pistol near Watts' office in Med/Sci; the shotgun never jams and the pistol has reduced recoil. I believe they have since patched those item properties out and I'm in the process of rerouting to work around that.
@@SpaceBotany thank you. SS2 is a truly masterpiece in game industry
@@SpaceBotany Oh okay lol, I was internally yelling at you to maintain your damn assault rifle for the last 15 minutes or so of the run
how come turrets take me 2 bullets from the AR with AP rounds on normal, but you only need one? I have max standard weps. Im curious what i ma doing wrong
@@acesneeks are you using the French-Eppstein device to upgrade the AR? That increases the damage it does
@@SpaceBotany i might have had only one modification that has to be it, thanks!
@@acesneeks There's also the Sharpshooter perk that adds an additional 15% ranged damage in case you're missing that.
@@SpaceBotany i had that, which was why i was stumped, there isnt anything in game that says weapons mods increase damage , but i may have missed it. I challeneged myself to replay the game without using google and i did, and started watching speed runs when i beat it. when i noticed this
have you ever thought of taking the QBR chamber in cargo bays/command control? idk if it's faster since you gotta take the elevator but it definitely makes escaping cargo bay 2 an easier matter, don't gotta worry bout the maintenance bots blocking your path while escaping, just have to die of fall damage
or at least that's how most of my attempts ended since i'm VERY GOOD AT THIS GAME
Good question. It's faster to simply run back through, since the death animation is a small but notable time loss. Also having to start the QBR in Command Control would mean needing to spend the time doing that, as well as riding the elevator and the grav shaft. On top of that, the med hypo needed to make sure death is not certain if I hit a wall using the speed hypo at the end of the level avoiding the cutscene. It might be worth it with more testing though, thanks for the idea!
28:07
love the run but i must ask, how come the armour cutscene skip in enginering is not counted as a glitch? im i just being thick?
It's more of an exploit since all that's happening is a specific point on the map is being jumped over. The "glitchless" category is I guess more "no major glitches" as it avoids the two major gamebreaking glitches used in the any%, living dead and out of bounds clipping. On top of that, the Body visit cutscene has no effect on gameplay, so running the game is much the same whether you play through the cutscene or you do the skip, so it's really just a runner's boon for saving some time.
@@SpaceBotany ah I understand, thank you for clarify so quickly on an old video, I understand since its just a long cutscene essitantally so fair dos
@@theramenshamen9599 Pretty much just skipping that and the Shodan reveal cutscene to be more runner friendly. Sucks to just sit and wait out the cutscenes you have seen so many times and all
@@bubbadoo aye, I understand
How would you feel about running this exact category, except with a mod to randomize all the keycodes, forcing the player to 'find' them every run / hack the doors?
It would be pretty interesting. Would change up how modules can be distributed pretty heavily in the early game, as well as add a lot more backtracking. I'd say still doable in under an hour.
how the fuck?
