Excellent run. Only real errors are on Bridge (and my own routing mistakes I realize exist now that I am older and wiser)
Check this run out on SDA: speeddemosarchi...
Imagine being Diego + SHODAN. You’re watching this rando wake up from a six month coma and buzz around each floor, blowing himself up with hand grenades to teleport back and forth between resto bays. I’d cut my losses and hop in a life pod.
or shut myself down to avoid his wrath
@@chessemchesse3676 I'd uninstall
and their entire plan collapses within half an hour
God you can just see the engine fighting against him at every step of the way.
This really is an amazing speedrun, wish more people would appreciate it, given System Shock's complicated controls...
complicated controls?it took me 1 hour to even know where i was
I had to watch this because I was tired of wandering around aimlessly for 15 hours.. I hate looking up walkthroughs but man, this game is like running around in a labyrinth..
Yeah this is probably one of the hardest games due to how easily it is to get lost. Props to the people in the late 90’s that actually managed to complete this game without any video walkthroughs
i did it when i was 18 and now 46 and doing it again with my 3 kids cheering for me!!
This is my favorite game of all time.
Came here after beating System Reshock (2023), loved it and what Nightdive has done, it took my many times longer to beat the game than this run.
Insane! Respect man. This was some speedrun...
That was a killer run, you're awesome at it!!
I'd love to see a TAS run of this, so much optimisation :o
Even more impressive that youre using the default controls
Can't use panelling
Carpet needs cleaning
Bed needs making up
16:10
Now THAT'S real hacking at work!!
I should've watched this for some pointers before playing through the remake.. 32hrs (not minutes) to finish it on my first playthrough :P
If you ever decide to tackle this again, I'm almost certain you don't have to go touch the relay analyzer before plugging the new demodulator into 428. MIght save a few seconds there.
Nice run
This is a mad skillz!
Sweet.
thanks bro, look at you, hacker achievement is mine now!!!!
Can't use WORDS
Why did you bother doing that trick with the floor lift on level 7?
You can just climb the wall on the right; it's a climbable texture.
It's to backtrack faster. Also I don't know what climbable surface you are talking about

Huh. I never noticed that I guess. Good find, but too bad this category is mostly obsolete
Just got the game. Loved SS2 and wanted to try this one, got it working just fine and have figured out most of the controls but for the life of me I can figure out how to look up or down and I can't get my character to swing the pipe high enough to hit a camera. Can you offer any tips?
Edit: Nevermind, I figured it out. Great run btw.
ArcLightShock37 Rebind the keys because the default setup is bad...once you rebind it will be much better
@hwhehe hehehe You know this comment is half a decade old right? I even said I figured it out in an edit.
@@ArcLightShock37 no you didn't
I do not understand anything you did in these 30 minutes
great speedrun nontheless
I'm using this as a walkthrough 😂
same
*WARNING. USER DEATH IMMINENT.*
no mouselook whyy it hurts to watch
Wouldn't the run have been a bit easier with the combat and puzzle options turned to zero, or were you doing a specific run where the settings had to be like that?
I think its a specific run there
Someone did a speedrun of this game with all difficulty levels set to zero here: ruclips.net/video/FlJlOEVqB-s/видео.html
You can basically bypass all combat and plot elements and finish the game in under 4 minutes! Crazy stuff.
What’s the weird cut at 1:07?
17:54, can someone tell me how to unlocked the door please ? Im really stuck at this point, im stuck at all maint. But i did all 3 green land part and the master lever
I guess you figured it out long ago, but one is supposed to collect the log by the computer nodes, and input '428' into the relay analyzer in a side room on the opposite side of the core. That will 'detect the fault' and open the doors.
@@NellWatson Hey thanks for your answer 😊! But yaa I find how to beat thé game 😅. But thx
Does anyone else think this game aged terribly, I can barely play it with it's unimaginable large level design.
+Brandon Moore did you play the enhanced edition? Because the free mouse looking really helps a lot and makes the map not as overwhelming.
Aged terribly?! This is one of the best aged games ever in my opinion. Maps aren't really that big, they're confusing but not really large. Same in size as System Shock 2 really.
@@atarirob Eh, it really hasn't aged well, particularly because of the controls. The controls have served as a shining example of obsolete game design. The HUD also aged it quite a bit.
Matt Ward Controls were almost entirely reworked from the ground up in the rereleased GOG version (pretty sure NightDive handled it). Makes it so the controls are exactly like SS2's. It has most certainly aged, but it's more than playable today. Deus Ex, another Warren Spector game, has done the complete opposite and actually improved with age I think.
@@atarirob You're talking about a somewhat reworked version of the game at this point, not the original game. You can argue that any game has aged well if you're going to include mods/revamps that tweak the game to be more up to date. If anything, the fact that the GOG version had to rework the controls from the ground up just shows how badly the control scheme in the original game has aged.
