Hi guys, I just found out there is a little edit error in this video on row 12, when making the corner starting at 14:25. Somehow I accidentally copied the part that says '1 bpsc in 4th dc, ch 2'. Please ignore the copied part (between 14:37 - 14:44).
So to make clear, between 14:25 - 14:50 it should be:
(1 bpsc in the 4th dc, ch 2, 1 bpsc in same st)
Sorry for the confusion! If you didn't already, make sure to read the free written pattern as this will make it much easier to understand the pattern: wilmade.com/ana-lucia-shawl/

You state your pattern is free but it is not and I still am trying to understand row 12. I will try it again with this information but if it doesn't work I will look for some other pattern. Sorry but I am confused and you just go to fast to follow.

row 10- corner bit. just before the corner will be the last 7dcs before the corner space, sc in the gap before the corner (in between the 2 dcs). then 7dcs in the corner space, sc in between the 2 dcs, 7dcs in next 2chain space carry on as normal to end of row.

I still get 90 stitches in row 10 when the pattern says there should be 89 stitches. I've market the row with stitch markers and agree with your corner explanation above but counting the first sc and last sc, I get 90 stitches. Frustrating!!

I found and fell in love with this glorious lacy design soon after you first shared the pattern. I wasn't sure I could do it but after typing up Row 12 in large print and breaking up the steps with space between the rows of text so that I can follow it without getting lost, it has become a very simple and fast design to complete. I HIGHLY recommend that anyone with less than perfect vision, or who "gets lost" easily do the same. Row 12 can be a stinker if you don't break it down in a way you can follow. For ME rewriting that one line made all the difference. The rest of the design is extremely easy just as the pattern is written. It's amazing how such a complicated looking design can be so easy to complete! I am just about to complete the third pattern repeat section and am going to add one more section of repeated rows before doing the final rows.( I like a longer shawl.) It is now one of my very favorite and most satisfying designs to crochet! It would easily make up into a totally stunning throw too! (That is my plan for a future project along with several more Ana Lucia shawls.) Thank you so much for sharing the pattern AND the very special story behind it. Bless you...and bless Anna. To anyone who has problems, just take your time, count your stitches as you go. Use plenty of stitch markers as you learn the pattern...and MARK the CENTER (Corner) so you know you are getting it right. The center will tell you immediately if you made an error. Make notes on your pattern. It will all make sense...it will become easy (!) and it's worth every minute invested!!!

Dear Wilma I'm glad you have found people who share your rare condition and are able to help you through your journey. I too have a disease and it helps me greatly to know others suffer through the same circumstances themselves and always have a shared empathy with me. I was looking for a pattern for a shawl just like yours for this coming winter here in Australia. I've followed your directions to purchase Scheepies Whirl Night Time Bubbles 788 and I hope I'm able to follow along with you. Have you considered doing a second part video for the completion of the shawl and the beautiful scolloped edge for us beginners? It would be truly appreciated. Thank you for your generosity sharing such beautiful and inspirational pieces, kindest regards Karen 💞💞💞

Douglas Vaccaro I’ve made several of her shawls I agree with you her tutorials are some of the best out there. It’s great because it’s slow enough for beginners But she also edits it in a way that is fast enough for more advanced crocheters where they won’t get bored with the pace! Plus there’s always the written pattern you can get from her website

Wilma, this is a gorgeous pattern. Thank you so much for sharing it ! With that said, I think your strength lies in design. Your instruction is a little rushed, and things like where the hook should be placed on the complex parts, for example, row 13, at the corner is 1 DC under the CH 2 stitch from the prev row, then CH 2, then 1 DC in the same space, I THINK. I recommend to those trying to follow this, put the video on .25 speed and replay - I did several times on rows 12 and 13. Anyway, I’m making a scarf, not shawl, using a tiny hook and tiny yarn, which makes this even more difficult, using merino wool #1 yarn ombré gray to light green to light blue. I think it’s going to be beautiful ! Best to you. Correction: row 13 above is wrong - the correction is: 1 DC in the right stitch BEFORE the CH 2, CH 2, 1 DC in the left stitch AFTER the CH 2 (previous row)

I love this pattern. I am a relative beginner to crochet, certainly to any intricate mixing of stitches and having to count them!! But although I found it hard to start with, and had to redo most of my rows twice because they didn't add up, I stuck with it and finished it! I learned a lot about the process as I went along and feel more confident as a result. Now I want to make another one in a softer yarn (I used Aran wool which is lovely stuff but Just Not Right for this pattern)!

In the video, she says to ch 2 and sc in the 4th stitch THREE times! The pattern only says to do it TWO times. So I had to pull out those rows and start them again. I hope you will give it another try. I am now on row 20 and it is easier now that I have figured out the tough parts! And it is so beautiful!

Yes exactly! Please don’t give up! There is a snafuu on the video exactly in the corner of row 12. The written pattern is the one to follow for that spot...you’ll make it...just read the pattern and follow it to a tee. I’ve been exactly where you are and I have since made three of these beauties!! Let me know if I can help you more...msg me at notcatbutat@gmail.com

I adore this pattern. Your video, plus the step by step instructions on your blog, PLUS the super useful stitch count table, resulted in a gorgeous shawl that's going to be a Christmas present for my mother in law. Next one will be a New Year's shawl for mum. Thanks so much!

At laaaast….i think i FINALLY have got the hang of it now and hopefully i will succeed finishing it, but oh boy, the beginning has been a climb up a steep hill, and i had to stop and begin from scratch again and again and again, i was convinced i would need to give up 👁👄👁 But i’m not a quitter 😎👍🏻 I have bought patterns to 3 of your beautiful shawls and Ana Lucia is one of them, also i have bought some skeins of cake yarn in the most beautiful color-mixes to make the shawls 🌈❤️💛🧡💜💙💚🤍🖤🤎

Hello Wilma ~ I've made 4 of these gorgeous shawls already and my friends love them! I accidentally purchased 2 written patterns and I'm happy to support you for sharing this lovely design. It really does help to have it along with the video even though you are a very good teacher. Have you ever considered adapting it for a rectangular shawl? I'll buy 3 patterns if you do :-) I might give it a try but I'm doubtful. Thanks! Jeanne

Hi Wilma, thank you for your clear and quick explaining. I love the pattern and my shawl came out perfect! Just in time for my vacation! I made it all black but I have some yarns in stock that would be perfect for this pattern. So I definitely will make another one. Again thanks!🙏🏼🙏🏼 Of dankjewel natuurlijk😉

When I seen the name "Ana Lucia" and photo of this beautiful shawl with the pretty colors you used, the first image that popped into my mind was the character "Luciana" played by Danay Garcia of Fear the Walking Dead wearing this! The name Luciana is opposite of Ana Lucia, but it is what came to my mind, regardless. This shawl would look beautiful on her, and looks like something she would wear. #ftwd #DanayGarcia

Thank you for this pattern. I don't know if you read comments from a video from so long ago however I offer a top. With the way you crochet it's VERY difficult to see the project, you almost show each row but then you cut the video. Since you crochet the way you do, it would be awesome it you would display the project after each row. thanks so much, I can't wait to finish this shawl.

I have just downloaded the pattern and looking at your video as well I am managing to follow the pattern. I am using Drops delight yarn which is looking very pretty. Some of the stitches are new to me but with your great tutorial I am managing to keep up and it's looking beautiful. Thank you for taking the time and effort to show us how to make this beautiful shawl. From one very happy customer from Berkshire England.

Row 13 is written different than your video. Written pattern shows 1 dc not 2, then * repeat doesn’t say dc in next 5 . Could you post the corrections on ravelry. I purchased the written pattern. I love the pattern and grateful for the video so I was able to follow along. Another question I had was the reference to bow does that mean space?

Really nice pattern just wish you could go into each stitch and row with much better details especially at the beginning, corner and end as I am getting mixed up so have to undo my stitches and start the pattern again and again.
