Spiders eating the enemy base while its being destroyed is such a great move and insult all at once. A very tyranid army comp.

This happens way to often in games. People want a quick win or go on to the next one. Had plenty of games when red/blue ragequit early and we still manage to win out eventually, but even more games it just became pointless because top 2 OS would ragequit.

It's sadly a classic rookie move. Hyper tunnel visioned on only their own battle, right up until they take a hit, and then they try to push blame onto their team and claim the match is doomed.

The tower hopping strat works better with Coretex, but there's a specific reason for that. Construction turrets can be airlifted, Coretex gets the Commando which builds transports. This combo lets you snowball your construction turrets and spend less time reclaiming them and also fewer resources building more of them. It has other benefits as well, including mines for an 'oh crap' defense and stealth for less artillery headaches. Overall solid strat for Coretex.
Also I think commenting on your own games is fine. It does help with understanding your decision making process. Know thyself, know thy enemy. =)

The commando is an expensive t2 unit.
the turret and hlt hopping was supported by rocket bots. Which are all t1 units.

1 transport is enough to airlift those construction turrets, and I thought I saw one hovering early on.

    • @ainumahtar

So basically, ask the air player for a transport, because in the t2 phase (and especially beyond) this kind of tactic would be a lot less effective.

Commendations for several players from me.
One to Goldfish5 for never giving up even for an instant and swallowing that nuke with honor.
One to Noahchris for those monster nuke which turned the tide dealing with the turtle green front line.
And one to Deathspiral99 for ending their death spiral and swinging it into a comeback.
Both teams had some good cohesion, blue team especially had some great call outs.
I might have a soft spot for underdog players.

Also while you say the Vanguard is one of the strongest siege units compared to catapults which also ignore shields I gotta say they aren't the hotness. High trajectory IS strong, but in most games I rarely see the vanguards used well.

Is there a reason you never mixed in even 2-3 AA bots? You had a t1 lab the whole time, fielding a small group of say, 5 archangels under the fighter wall or when you were pushing into the enemy base, could have been huge.

Neat build. If it were me, these are the refinements I would try.
-Play cortex, I think you will find armed metal extractors incredibly useful in this strat, as they are so much better at frontlining versus rocket bots. It is WAY WAY harder to overwhelm a static line with armed metal extractors, and it comes online much quicker once you have t1 build power on your front line, which is essential to this build anyways. This should also help your heavy laser tower timing by quite a bit, as you can safely go heavy laser behind much less t1 army. I think it was the worst of both worlds to be buildling a Heavy laser tower in front of your own front line, right on a metal deposit, without first building a metal extractor, which could also be itself, protection for your heavy laser tower.
    - I might try and play this as a "no lab" opening. I would expect to improve the timings by a lot, and really, 3 rocket bots are not exactly going to change a lot on the front line, like say, a 60 second faster heavy laser tower would.
    - Try to get a T1 constructor forward ASAP, even at the cost of taking back mexes. It was risky to try and build that heavy laser turret with nothing but a couple rocket bots, and those really have no utility in this build. Rush to the forward most metal deposit you can get and get an armed metal extractor up. I might actually try this by trying to buy an early cortex air constructor, simply because it will be so much easier to micro and then you can take back mexes easily.
Once that is online, the natural transition is a heavy laser protected by your armed metal extractor to push back the rocket bots, and then you can go for your agitator to snipe enemy mexes and accumulate value over time. Soon as that is done, try to get some perimeter cameras up if you can, but don't push the front line forwards, at least, not straight forwards. Push it laterally forwards, into one of the other lanes.
The opportunity cost of trying to disassemble so much stuff is pretty huge. It would make more sense to just extend your wall laterally, to deny more front line (high quality) metal deposits. Don't invalidate your old stuff, It is still useful at preventing your opponents from moving laterally across the front line efficiently, and because you are expanding from an existing strong point, you can do it much cheaper as you can expect your old stuff to support the new stuff if it gets attacked, and at least deny the enemy any reclaim if you have a setback.
I would look to try and cover as much front line as reasonably possible, as standoff artillery like agitators are going to make it hard for enemy forces to support one another by moving back and forth across the front line. This will discourage your now pushed back lane opponent from just double teaming an adjacent lane while you stand there doing little other than hurting his metal economy a little bit. It is also likely you will be able to build high tech static offense inside your team's own cheap, somewhat obsolete light laser wall if you do it early,, as light lasers may be a great part of a defense, but alone, they just get run over by basically anything. The 5 LLT wall tends to get run over by the time mass rocket bots come out, but it doesn't have to be, as it doesn't take much in the way of higher tier defense to just shut down rocket bot spam.
I definitely wouldn't have wanted to start in the lane you chose. Your long range weapons that are the hallmark of static defense units were wasted. A good place to do this would be somewhere with a metal dense front line and good line of sight for your long range static emplacements. you are spending 1.5k metal in heavy turrets to push a player off a single 2.0 mex. you could easily do the same to push an enemy team off at least 2 2.0 mexes and more likely, at least 1 3.5 mex and 1 2.0 if you did this in the middle of the map. IMHO, the power of an early agitator is largely that you can just ignore the enemy front line and ravage the enemy economy in your first few shots, and then switch over to slowly accumulating value over time. But a lot of the power is the first 4-6 shots that take out a couple mexes as you blind fire them, and the more and better the metal spots you are doing it to, the more powerful it is.
