I have three of Dave Draper's Top Squat: The newest one at my home gym, one at my place of business and I got one ten years ago for my mom for her in her home gym. I think they are the best choice for barbell squats.

Have used one for around 15 years. It's the best thing ever! Perfect for good mornings as well as squats. Hell, I even use it for standing calf raises. I have wide shoulders so squatting stresses them pretty bad, but the width of this attachment is perfect for me. It sits nice on my shoulders, and I could use my hands to get added control of the bar. I like it more than the chambered bar, which I found to be too closely wrapped around my neck. Glad I got it. My version looks slightly different though. Probably an older model.

Thanks for the tip on the Draper Top Squat. Now made by Sorinex. Much more affordable than a safety squat bar. This will let me keep squatting even with my tweaked shoulder.

I dislocated my shoulder in 2016 and every once in a while have issues but I never know when I will have them. Awesome idea may have to look into this.

This was a godsend in that 1. I’m 6’3 with very long arms and it’s very difficult to get my arms in position on a regular squat bar and I actually tore my pec once on squats, so this device was perfect.. and 2.) I found it on craigslist for $100.. mine is a but thicker than yours, it has ‘Top Squat engraved in it, and its curved in the middle to accommodate traps.. it was originally listed for $400 and that was 10 years ago

Hi Stevie! Thanks for the reviews. Had labral tear repair work done on my shoulder 3 weeks ago so typical squats are out of the question for a while. My friend suggested a safety squat bar. Saw your review on the Titan which is what I was considering buying and your concerns on the width of it and it being comfortable for a smaller / shorter person made me pause. What about the Draper bar? Is there a considerable difference in the shoulder width that would make it comfortable enough to rest upon, for someone with a shoulder width of about 19"? I'd Appreciate your help.

I have one of these and I don't like it. I never felt like it was stable since there wasn't direct contact with the bar, plus the handles are ridiculously wide at the shoulder points. I ultimately ended up fabricating handles that put the bar in direct contact with my back somewhere between high and low bar position, but I still have control over the bar and can stabilize it.

Thanks for the review. Bought one years ago, but didn’t like it. Found it shifted as I went up in weight and just didn’t feel secure at all. Stopped using it thereafter.

I would suggest to keep the arm movement at a minimum when you add a lot of weight. In this video the motion is greatly exaggerated... I only move my arms about 1 inch or 2 and squat around 260lbs with it. In Bodysquats the arms are naturally extended for ballance so I guess this device is in a way mimicking that motion and is ultimately meant for lighter weights. Again, on heavy weights you want to keep bar and body movement as little as possible other than the motion needed to do the exercise.

Louis Hortaleza no it’s not bad at all. I don’t really squat without a shirt or hoodie, so not sure about bare skin on it.

Used both, the handles on this attachment are wider and for me is a lot better fit than a SSB.
