ronnie was so far ahead of his time what a awsome writer. man these guys are my all time fav's when me and my kids go 4wheeln in the mtns this is the music we listen to and they remember the great outdoors every time they hear this song
ohhh touches my heart, skynyrd music i like a breathe, goes into your soul. Sad, i live in the italian countryside but the last years there's rising a strong development that changes the mud to concrete..i can't stand that. i was born in the wrong years..God bless
Absolutely beautiful. I love Skynyrd, and he is not even my generation. I am only 16... And have the pride to say most of my generations music is pointless. Not all of it, but the jist of it. Thankyou, for giving me some of the most meaningful music ever played.
I know a girl that left my town and went all around the U.S. traveling for her job. She came back and we had a fire in the backyard listening to the greatest hits CD. Even though the world is big and met alot of nice people, their is really no place like home. She is way more sophisticated then most of my freinds including myself but its nice to know she still enjoys the simple things.
4 minutes into the song ya see stevie gaines playing along side, collins, rossington, van zant wearing a fender tshirt playing a les paul, great job, great song

Trashed, that's ashame. When I was a kid, my parents would gather us childen and drive up and down the blue ridge. Man, it was good times. But now, my parents have been talking about moving around where my mother's childhood home is in the great smokies of NC. If they do move, I'm going with them. They even went there for a weekend during christmas, they brung back some pictures, and wow, the country was a welcome sight.
That song is so great! Its very well written and the lyrics are pure love of nature and exactly what i think about our world, too! Just look at the lenght of the comments on the video: it moves people deep inside and thats the right way.
One of my favorites! Song was recorded 3 week's before the plane crash. "Cuz when I can see the concrete slowly creepin, Lord take me and mine before that comes." Gives me goosebumps every time.
Annie Williford Sorry Annie but that's incorrect. This song appeared on the " Gimme Back My Bullets" album released in February 1976, over a year and a half before the plane crash in October 1977. One thing to listen out for on this track is the dobro and mandolin played by Barry Lee Harwood, who later became an integral part of the Rossington-Collins band formed by the survivors of the plane crash.
Annie Williford this was not recorded three weeks before the plane crash. The song that smell was recorded and the street survivors album was also recorded 3 days before the plane crash.
@brodensmith8754 negative. That smell was recorded in july-august of 77. The album was released 3 days before the plane crash. Street Survivors released October 17, 1977. Plane crash October 20, 1977.
Every time I hear this song, I remember sitting on top of a mountain in the Blue Ridges in Virginia, looking out over the Shenandoah and Rockfish Valleys. I can see the concrete slowly creeping, Lord take me and mine before that comes.
They had so many great songs.....If they would have released all of them as singles there would have been no room on the charts for anybody else.....I know i'm stretching the truth some, but not that much !!!!....Think about it !!!!
back up singer is Rickey Medlocke. This was the original studio recording from the album "Skynyrd's First" which was released many years after the plane crash.
