I've said it many times before but it's worth repeating. Lynyrd Skynyrd was one of THE most innovative rock bands of all time. Adding a string section to this beautifully crafted song proves it. I never tire of this song. Priceless.
this was one of my dads favorite songs. he loved Skynyrd. I played this at his funeral. Seemed fitting since he passed on a tuesday aswell. Rest in peace dad.
My favorite was the whole first album. Anywhere I put the needle I would sing along and fire up a bong hit and then go feed my pit Bull and go to the beach from port Orange, Florida!🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸✌🏻💪🏻👍🏻🤟🏻
i am a biker....with long hair, with tatooes....but when i listen this song....i cry....yes,.....i cry.....sorry for my english....god bless all the people of the world...rock and roll will never died!!!!!!!
Anybody here think this is the greatest song ever written ? And as good as the original was this version with the orchestra and backing singers is the business ❤️❤️
This was always a great skynyrd track....this version with the backing orchestra and singers just elevates it further. Beautiful song. A musical work of art
One of my best friends who introduced me to Lynyrd Skynyrd and was a big fan ended his life in his early twenties. I always think of him when I hear the band, even some 35 years later.
it is crazy how songs will forever take you back to the exact feeling you felt when you first heard them. It doesn't matter if you were a child or a teenager, and you still feel it 30 years later. I still get chills when I hear certain songs. And I can replay them repeatedly to relive that memory.
Remember the crash like yesterday. Lived in Pittsburgh and my friend Danny who lived in Atlanta called me and asked if I had heard. I slid down the wall and ended in a sitting position. Too stunned and sad and mad and devastated that such a wonderfully talented collection of young southern rock musicians had just lost their life. It will be 50 years here some time soon and wrapping my head around their lasting legacy, music and legend is timeless. God bless you LSB.
Rest in Peace: Steve Gaines, Cassie Gaines and Ronnie Van Zant - Plane Crash 1977; Allen Collins - Chronic Pneumonia due to Complication of Paralysis 1990; Leon Wilkeson - chronic liver and lung disease 2001; and Billy Powell Heart Attack 2009.
Forty years later and this song still calls out as pure and classic as the first day a slide was pulled across a string. I've been off and on that train, but it still keeps a ridin'. Great song.
Fantastic Song, just incredible. This one by far is the best version of this song. The orchestra is mind blowing with the arrangement. Makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up.
Every time time those violins come in at 4:13 my breathing stammers, my throat closes a little, and my eyes well up with tears. I remember hearing about the plane crash on the tv news, I was 13. God bless those that perished., for they did not die in vain. For no amount of evil amongst us, shall prevail. The mighty rise of a spiritual WARRIOR has begun...... you know who you are, and so do I.
It is also the part in the song i like the best. The song and that part of the song is some of the best that is produced in music I think. It was a special band that made incredibly good music and there was something special about them ..
Gary Rossington is technically the last Skynyrd member , but Johnny Van Zant and Ricky Medlock were there since the beginning. When they were kids. Sorry , buts it's always my debate when someone says "Last " Skynyrd member. ✌️ Love LS.
went to see skynard in Dublin in 2003. deep purple where headline act. never heard of skynard. probably one of the best nights of my life. seen the stones, clapton, u2, Neil Young etc etc... lynard skynard was the best concert I was ever at, by a mile.
Today I just had to come back here , again, with them ☝🏼☝🏼☝🏼to wish the sweetest guy I have ever known a Happy Heavenly Birthday 🎉 This one is for you Deko… I carry you close in my heart & Thank God for the times we had together. Wishing you a beautiful day wherever you are xx♥️🥂🎸🎸🎤🎤
music helps us all to get through shit times, this is one of those songs .we have to thank the song writers to have given us tunes like this that pull a string, thank you......
Hi ...4 years ago I was helping my friend find her son....we went to the copshop and anyways we found out that he was diseased and I had to help my friend as she told me that before he left her home he was playing simple man.....but more of Tuesdays gone.... I'm still feeling so sad over it all.....cause he could still be alive today ...he was murdered and left behind
The true masterpiece of the band, remembering the band members that aren't with us but in heaven. This song brings it all together for them and will never forget how great it really is.
Truly Southern trademark. Brilliant talented awesome Lynyrd Skynyrd. Free bird and Tuesday gone are great music that I am still listening to after 40 years. Thanks for the great songs
For a southern rock group to use strings at that time to accompany and give a higher emotional tome to the song was an absolute grand mix. Absolutely a WOW of a result. I can listen to it over and over.
DITTO ! I was watching Skynyrd in Atlanta back when there wasn't any cover charge or tickets. They were just a band in a bar. Loved them then, love them now. The music Ronnie wrote is never ending and will live on in hearts of all ages for years to come.
Ashley Sings mine uncle inspire me for start listen to them and now i am 15 year old teenager and nobody except few friend talk to me beacouse i listen to this guys but i dont care cos i love skynyrd much
I ran a concert touring trucking company out of Atlanta. Some where back around 1993, I sent my best driver out on a Skynyrd tour. I just spoke to him last week,...30 years of Skynyrd!
Worked overseas lost my Mississippi Belle to cancer last year she showed me so much of South I don't think I will ever recover GOD BLESS THAT WOMAN FOREVER in MY HEART
Lyrics : Train roll on, on down the line, Won't you please take me far away? Now I feel the wind blow outside my door, Means I'm, I'm leaving my woman at home. Tuesday's gone with the wind. My baby's gone with the wind again. And I don't know where I'm going. I just want to be left alone. Well, when this train ends I'll try again, But I'm leaving my woman at home. Tuesday's gone with the wind. Tuesday's gone with the wind. Tuesday's gone with the wind. My baby's gone with the wind. Train roll on Tuesday's gone Train roll on many miles from my home, See, I'm riding my blues away. Tuesday, you see, she had to be free But somehow I've got to carry on. Tuesday's gone with the wind. Tuesday's gone with the wind. Tuesday's gone with the wind. My baby's gone with the wind.
Take a moment to pray for those in the comments saying this is a "Metallica rip off" Lord Jesus, show these people the error of their ways. Amen. Seriously... I am dumbfounded. Like are you really that dumb? I just.. *sighs* Beautiful version of the song. It never fails to make me cry. 👏👏
This was the favorite song of my Uncle. Mu uncle was also the man that showed me Happy Gilmore for the first time, and hearing this son at the beginning made me fall in love with it as well. Unfortunately he couldn't get over his troubles with Alcohol and he eventually passed. RIP Uncle...Ill miss you
my favorite version of this song. Also, my favorite group members. I was a small child in the 70's and only became fan in the 80's. if it wasn't for these band members, I would not have the chance to hear and apprecoate the music of Lynard Skynyard. Keep the music alive for future generations!
My dear friend passed away today during his motorcycle trip in an accident. RIP Kevin Skinner. I will miss you, Race in Paradise. We shall ride together again.
I HAVE never been to a concert,,, this song means so much to me....my son and I grew up together but I thank god for music. I dedicate simple man to my SON ...
My dad always liked when I played this at home. He came to see my band and we played this for him ... Flash forward to 2001.. we buried my dad on a Tuesday.... I sat alone, in my basement listening to a bunch of songs he loved. I picked up my guitar when this came on and played along. Tears streaming down my face. It wasn't until the song was over that I had a tearful audience hanging on the steps and listening from behind me. My ex came over with my current girl and they both hugged me and handed me tissues. Every time I hear this brings me right back to that day
Takes me away to when I was young and beautiful. My heart hurts because I felt so ugly back then. God bless everyone who remembers being young and strong. I hope you all found your true north. ❤️
Saw them live again this summer and they were great!! The old songs are rock and roll history but their new material is just as good. They are still creating great music even after 30 years.
They have one of the best documentaries that I’ve ever seen. They talk about how they’d go to this farm and not leave for days because they’d be writing and singing. How they got their name. And how they actually grew to hate being affiliated with the Confederate flag when they’d learned the history behind it. They were just good old Southern Boys that loved doing what they did.
I was a young man, chainsaw carver and had the pleasure of meetin him in an elevator in Columbia Mo. He definitely is keeping that music alive. I love this song and version. I later in life had to carve an Angel for a head marker and I listened to this over and over while I carved it.
The best out there. I say that not only because I grew up drinking Budweiser beer, smoking home grown, listening to LS. But Johnny in particular because I work security at concerts and he was the only star that I laughed and interacted with. I couldn't believe it, was surreal, at the same time almost normal, how it should be. Johnny, thankyou for one of my best memories ever
I introduced my children to the survivors 2 years in a row with the Doobie Brothers at clear lake ca! Intimate little amphitheater, it was Soo much more than a concert!!Thank You for carrying on!
This gives me goosebumps. Everything about the music in the 70's and 80's just feels right. I'm 27 years old and what I wouldn't give to go back in time and experience this for myself. My kids will hear these songs and I hope they pass down this magic to their own. Gone but never forgotten.
To My Brothers.. Michael , Randy, and Doug. May you all Rest in Peace. Crying my Eyes Out, Miss y'all so much! To My Brother Pete, Per Wee. Love you too! Soar and Fly High.. Train Roll On❗🎈🎈🎈🎶🎹🎸😭👆💙Little Sis. 2021.. 💗Still here. Y'all first turned me on To Skynard, I was 8 years old. Still Listening at 51. Miss you all!
Johnny does such a good job honoring his brother and the rest of the original band members that are no longer with us and he's a great vocalist in his own right as well. I love the more gravelly tone that he brings to Skynyrd's songs. He and the current lineup have brought LS to new generations of fans and continue to keep the legacy alive all these years later.
My dad said this song reminds him of 9/11 because it occurred on a Tuesday, and the wind carried the dust and stuff with it and now it's gone and we only remember it.
black_hawk3456 yep, so true, remember that day so clear, 8 yrs later my son left for Afghanistan, I packed "One more forthe Road" every package I sent which were 2-3every week, he always said send more Lynyrd Skynyrd, everyone loves them... I did... unfortunately, he hit i.e.d..... life is never the same...

I'm hearin' ya, sister. What a beautiful song. Reminds me of someone who broke my heart in the 1990s. There will never be artists of this calibre again.
I love this version of this song. Ronnie had a more raw voice but Johnny is equally talented. I might add, the drummer is one of the best in the business.
One of the best songs made in music I think. Something special with lynard skynard and clearly they had musical gifts few others have like creating this amazing song. The plane crash happened several years before I was born, but happy that the music lives on..
I've said it many times before but it's worth repeating. Lynyrd Skynyrd was one of THE most innovative rock bands of all time. Adding a string section to this beautifully crafted song proves it. I never tire of this song. Priceless.
The strings were a natural for the melotron that Al Kooper added and played. He was their George Martin.

Yep my favourite song ever and much as I love the original this version is something else, the violins and backing singers complete this masterpiece.
For sure nothing better than this big band version of this song. Totally awesome. I'd have loved to went to this concert..
Ronnie Van Zant, was and is one of the greatest songwriters ever. He left us too soon. But what a catalog of timeless music,he left for us all to enjoy.

Une légende qui a accompagné ma vie,j ais à présent 61ans et je ressens toujours le même bonheur d écouter leur musique, Éternel
Billy Powell tickeling the ivory keys sets the song off.
rest in peace Billy, your mark in music will never be forgotten!
Wow, that is great with the orchestra!

@@wigglebutts173 So sorry. Well he did it for his Country. AMEN
@@joesmelser2784 "Got that Right".... so many... lost, so many injured... God Bless all our Veterans, active duty ....😢🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸😢🍻 life is never the same... Tuesday's Gone....
One of the Greatest bands of all time, and yes a fantastic song that has such meaning ……………...Skynyrd will live fore ever.
One of our favorites for sure! Brings a lot of emotion!
We love you Lynyrd Skynyrd ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
This song makes me sad.... Lynard Skynard are masters at touching your soul. What a beautiful song, what a beautiful day.
I'm hearin' ya, sister. What a beautiful song. Reminds me of someone who broke my heart in the 1990s. There will never be artists of this calibre again.
Rest in peace Gary Rossington
Depuis toute ces années beaucoup de plaisir à vous acouter depuis notre petite suisse ,,on vouz aime
I love this version of this song. Ronnie had a more raw voice but Johnny is equally talented. I might add, the drummer is one of the best in the business.
Michael Castellone has been with them since 1999. Previously, he drummed with Damn Yankees.
Definitely one of my favourite songs, certainly in their top 5 best songs IMO.
They still are keeping it alive, with the new members, nailing each song
One of the best songs made in music I think. Something special with lynard skynard and clearly they had musical gifts few others have like creating this amazing song. The plane crash happened several years before I was born, but happy that the music lives on..
