Allen Collins : Guitar
Steve Gaines : Guitar
Artimus Pyle : Drums
Leon Wilkenson : Bass Guitar
@@edwhite7475 Oh shame on me, typo.
Now the lead singer is Johnny Van Zant Ronnie’s little brother. And Ricky Medlocke who was in the band 1971-72 replaced Allen when he rejoined in 1996.
@@edwhite7475 Steve’s legacy is alive in Corinna Gaines Biemiller.
@@edwhite7475 Ricky Medlocke is very much today’s Allen. Plays the same guitars as him too and was in the original band as a studio drummer.
@@edwhite7475 Very true but Medlocke actually wrote many hits with Blackfoot including Highway Song, and Train Train. Medlocke knew Allen and was close to him.
Damn those southern boys are and always will be the greatest I'm so glad I got to see them back in 1976 never will forget it, gone too soon.....
❤❤. Rest In Peace 🕊️🕊️. Gary Rossi ngton❤❤
My favorite Lenard Skynard song!
Lynyrd Skynyrd is simply the best Southern Rock bands of all time, the crash stole them away. They will always be here forever. Their music will Never fade away. God Bless Skynyrd!
Allen Collins was one hell of a guitar player. Damn.
A band with 3 lead guitar players that could take a lead at any time. They are Bad Ass !
He also wrote this song.
Actually, when you think about it, every single musician was fantastic!
Leon Wilkeson is one of my favorite Bass players of all time. Billy Powell is arguably the best piano player in Rock. Artimus is a kick ass drummer! Every single musician on that stage is top notch!
@@BST-lm4po absolutely! The backstory is also pretty amazing with the core group of guys from the same Jacksonville high school and Billy Powell was a roadie! Amazing what brilliant musicians these guys were. It was like Ronnie said, they were truly street survivors
@@BST-lm4po and the girls......!
I cant stop watching these videos of Knebworth August 21st 1976. I was there, I lived in Stevenage, i was there with my mates who i cant find. Are any of them still alive, i dont know, i have tried tracing them, but to no avail. i miss them, i would love to find them. Those were the days. Yes i took drugs, we all did, we had a drink, we all did. I miss it all, but hey, im 67 now, not long to go i guess. Would love to see at least one of my old pals before i depart this world. Lynyrd skynyrd, awsome, they brought the day alive, they awakened the crowd, we all thought at the time, yes, come on ,lets go. Shame some of the band were to depart this life a year later.
Me too; when I need a laugh!!!!!!!!
Have you tried google search or face book to find them?
The guy in red is a time traveler! A truly metal head 🔥
Allen Collins :-)
Ronnie so cool..classic front man..when that plane went down music changed forever
Hello Walter how are you doing today
Thats the best that this song has ever been played by L.S., history being made. No wonder Mick and the rest of the Rolling Stones⁰ didn't want to follow this band. They diffently had thier act together that day. RVZ was one hell of a front man, it will be a long time before a group surpasses a group of a half of a century ago, they were one of the best, if not the best Southern Rock Groups of all time, R.I.P. Free birds!
Rip Gary Rossington, the last original member. This was always my favorite song by them. He will be missed :(
And yet there are current tour dates listed at the top. Who's touring as Lynyrd Skynyrd? I know why, but it's pathetic.
If you don't like give me 3 steps thwn you're not a fan.
I always kept a Skynyrd tape in the car cassette player, and when out driving with my family my 2 daughters would, age 8 and 6, would shout for”3 Steps”, and when the opening riff for Sweet Home Alabama started, right on cue they would shout “TURN IT UP”.
35 years on, they are still Skynyrd fans and I’m still playing their riffs on my Telecaster! A life well spent.
I wish I could of seen these guys before the plane crash! THEY ARE SPECTACULAR!!! Ronnie's voice is just totally amazing! The whole band is just SPECTACULAR!
I cried like a baby
They are still number one
I am SO very glad I got to see them in concertI👍❤️
after 1977 there is no real Lynyrd Skynyrd
A BAND Powerful enough to turn Goat Piss into Gasoline. IMO. 😁✌️
If I ever have grandchildren, I can tell them I lived at a time that Lynyrd Skynyrd OPENED for the Rolling Stones.
Music was that good.
I have a question if your that old how did you spell Lynyrd wrong
@@yerav4241 Didn't have my glasses on. Deal with it, I'm 54.
Alot of bad ass music in the 70's , this is just one of the bad ass bands .😊
Clearly the most comprehensive band to ever exist.
One of the greatest bands ever.
Tremendously talented guys. This is how music was played LONG before auto tune. One of my favorite bands 🙏🏻 Skynyrd
When you have talent, you don't need auto tune.
Them boys from Jacksonville, FL are IMMORTAL!!! Skynyrd boys: Y'all came for the Stones? Hold my whiskey!!
DUUUUVALLLLL
Good American homegrown rock and roll it never goes out of style!
Those guys are having a blast! So sad the way they died, but from the survivor 'they died like men."
its coming up to 41 years since we lost ronnie, steve and cassie, one of the darkest days in music history but skynyrd will be played till the end of time.
Posting 1-14-22. Actually it was 44 years last October 20. Before you know it, the half-century mark of their deaths will be here.
Sad day indeed.I always felt so bad for their families and especially Steve and Cassie parents losing 2 children at once.So so sad.
63 yrs old a lover of so much music and i've only just discovered Lynyrd Skynyrd .........what planet have i been on ...Absolutely awsome
Haha
They are in total command of their material and completely own the stage. Nothing fancy. Just talent.
Aaaamaazing
Ronnie plants himself on that stage and owns it. He has this slow mastery of motion.
They blew away the stones at this concert
I'm sure Skynyrd had an awesome set but it's pretty damn hard to blow the Stones away. I mean they are, after all, The Rolling fucking Stones.
No mate they blew them away
Lynyrd was a much better band than Rolling Stones
I think they blew away the WHO & manager
@D Lay You might *prefer* Skynyrd to the Stones, but your comment is ridiculous.
One promotional slogan called LS “The Rolling Stones of the South”.
First dance I ever had was with my dad to this song. I was 3 and was standing on his feet while he cut a rug. We danced to it every time we heard it through the years but my favorite was when we danced to it as our father daughter dance at my wedding in 1994. Best memories of my life right there. ❤
The way it ought to be.
Great story
Right on girl.
That's BEAUTIFUL! My uncle got me listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd when I was little.... Best memories ever!
@@tabathabrabham6384 When we were kids and told our friends where we would go if we had time machines.....I bet none of us said "I'd go back and hang out with my uncle".
Love their music, lyrics and free spirits...
Shame.
Lynyrd Skynyrd did a good job filling those seats at Knebworth in 1976!
The original Lynyrd Skynyrd band was incredibly talented. They had something that is hard to describe or duplicate.
I'll be a Skynyrd fan till the day I die🤘🇺🇲🎸🍺
Me too
God bless 🏴
This Kids is Southern Rock at its FINEST

How come most Skinnard fans can't wait to die and go party with the band in heaven.
Sick-o's!!!
