This was one of my brother's favorite songs. He died in a car crash when he was 19. This song will always remind me of him and brings a tear to my eye every time I hear it. Thank you Ronnie Van Zant and Lynyrd Skynyrd, your music lives forever!
I feel your pain. Lost My Older Brother a few Years back. We were both huge Skynyrd fans. All I have to do is hear any LS from this era and I get the chills. LS keeps My late Brothers spirit hanging around. God Bless LS. 🙏
Ronnie in her simplicity and modesty is so wonderful, he didn't need to do crazy things on stage to get the audience's attention, he radiates natural light and has the sweetest, most amazing voice I've ever heard.
From humble beginnings. I mean they started with nothing...worked their asses off. Ronnie was a Lombardi or Patton. Their story is 100% American conquest. Amazing what they produced through dreams, passion, daring dedication. So inspiring. So proud of these guys. Jax,Fl The sense of accomplishment cannot be under stated !
Yes Southern Rock Band they were (from the south myself), but I like to classify them as the greatest "American Rock" Band of all time because No Band (Southern or not) from the USA has been able to even touch them in the last 4 1/2 decades!!!!
Probably the best Rock and Roll band from the States at the time I m thinking the Stones knew who they were having to go on stage after Skynyrd seems like they got pistol whipped that day lol
look at the crowd!!! And thats England!!! that speaks volume, for a southern USA band in 76!! THE G.O.A.T!!!!! only the Beatles, zeppelin had them numbers in them days. and they were English bands!!!!!
Ronnie was a rock n roll Ringmaster. As the undisputed leader of this band each person paid close attention to the parts...and rivaled each other in greater or lesser degrees.
I watched a documentary and there was a cool moment where Ronnie pissed some people off because he got his guitar players to walk out on a section of the stage that only the stones were supposed to go on.
quote from Keith Richard about only time that stones knew that they wouldn't compare to coming close to measuring up to play after sknyrd blew stadium and everyone away 76 music festival
I know, right? What's a brotha know about classic rock??? But I know this has been my all time favorite band, and this is my all time favorite song!!! Seen at McNichols Area in Denver back in 1978
Don’t be hard on yourself, my brother! And I know you’re sorta being sarcastic saying what’s a brotha know about classic rock, but in all seriousness, y’all invented it! Us white boys and other diversity’s who jammed rock just added some more flavor to the spice! 🙌🏻 It’s all got that sweet ol’ blues tied up in rock n roll!
He's in the HOF as a member of Lynyrd Skynyrd and is a survivor of the plane crash and was on four of the albums in Ronnie's era so yeah he is absolutely a full member!
Kind of a repetitive theme. They didn't know any better. They probably lived the words to their music. Still a tremendous band. I'm going through my own revival with them on U tube. My favorites are "That Smell" & "Sweet Home Alabama". Such a good idea to add the girls to the band as background vocalists. Also from what I've heard of them, they had the equivalent to 3 lead guitarists.

One of the very few bands to blow the Stones off the stage.
I watched a documentary and there was a cool moment where Ronnie pissed some people off because he got his guitar players to walk out on a section of the stage that only the stones were supposed to go on.
