I’m super happy that it’s an option, because if I have to fly very far in the old world, I just enable autoflying and go fix myself a salad or something, can’t do that with dragonriding.
And so now that we can fly other mounts dragon style...has anyone found the toggle? Dragon riding is a bit too fast when picking herbs and mining, etc.

Yeah, it should just become a racial 'mount' skill, like Running Wild.
Especially with the toggle. Really makes me wish again we got playable Covenant 'races', Kyrian would've had a similar skill.
Objectively dragonriding is not better.... it's personal preference. Flying long distances is way better with the old flying. You don't have to micromanage, or even have your hands on the keyboard.
Blizzard has been killing it lately. I keep getting validation that I made the right choice coming ba k for more than 2 weeks

I don't play WoW anymore and have not played it for quite some time, but learning riding at lvls 10, 20 and so on for free seems like just horrible game design to me. I remember exactly how insanely satisfying it felt when i got fast flying in wotlk, it was eye-opening. Before, there even was merit to riding, because slow flying was slower than ground speed, which was somewhat of a trade-off. Even if you don't want to collect 5k gold for every character, they could've made it account-wide.
Now you get it for free more or less at the start of the game? I mean, if you design wow around riding everywhere, that's fine by me, but i feel you're seriously missing out on satisfaction of it if you just spam the player like that. Well, i never liked you leveled up your abilities automatically either, so i guess i'm just old and nostalgic.
Inflation and gameplay got to a point that buying riding skill became a minor nuisance to most, then they made it mostly free, then added dragon riding to bring novelty and skill expression.
You can get enough gold to buy the old riding skills pretty easily nowadays and rising prices would be an unpopular decision (like irl) so they're just cutting steps. Although I agree that visiting an instructor or completing a quest to learn a new ability would be pretty rewarding like they're doing in season of discovery.
20 years ago I was walking around till someone told me you can ride horse have to train and like 10 ilvl higher than I should have been to get horse, training is over looked for sure
Dragon riding is just regular flying with restrictions. Yes, it is a fun novelty, but to say it is "objectively x times better than regular flying" is ignorant at best. Currently, I only use dragon riding because I am forced to within the DF zones, but given the choice, I will take regular flying every time over dragon riding.
I guess one of the better things is it can be faster.. until you run out of vigour lol
Personal opinion. I personally love dragon riding. I hate when I have to go to the old world for whatever reason, because I hate having to go back to regular flying. It just feels so bad.

I like the idea of flying methods being expanded.
On the other hand... meh... I'll never be happy about welfare abilities. I want my RPG to be as RPG-like as possible. While I understand that some people consider these things to be "quality of life" improvements, there are also many (like me) that don't. For us, "quality of life" leans towards the fantasy, not the ease of user interaction. (I'm only referring to the giveaways) I can understand why they would change these things at this point, though. Trying to RPG through the entire game at this point could take over a year just to catch up to current content. (I would do it if I was new,.. but that's me.)

There is no flying at level 10; you get Apprentice Riding; 60% ground mounts.
Dragon riding is good if you don't farm stuff.
