Great video. I use Surge in almost every track I create. I will definitely check out Creepy Piano and Deelay. Some free plug ins I've been using a lot lately have been:
LABS by Spitfire Audio - Great for sample libraries of odd instruments and practical ones
BBC Symphony Orchestra Discover by Spitfire - Every individual section of an orchestra at your fingertips for free
Valhalla Super Massive by Valhalla - Reverb/Delay with a lot of presets from basic room reverb to trippy tape echo delay spacey washes
Plugins I was hesitant of at first but glad I bought:
Guitar Rig 5 - just so many presets for me to work with
EzDrummer2 - Specifically the Pop Punk library
DjinnBass - Great bass VST to go along with guitar riffs

I was just about to add a string section as one of the last touches to my song, now I might have to try BBC Symphony Orchestra instead! Thanks for the recommendations! Awesome comment.
P.S. I really enjoy Guitar Rig 5 and EzDrummer2 as well. Haven't tried DjinnBass yet.

I love the spooky sounds you were able to create here with those simple limitations. It's super cool what you can achieve by limiting your options! I only knew Surge! Thank you for the recommendations.
Regarding my free favorites, that would be LABS by Spitfire
    Valhalla supermassive
    And the Voxengo SPAN analyzer.

I am certainly guilty of often trying to cram too much into a song or a part, and it was a nice exercise to really limit my options. I guess that's been an emerging theme of my videos: arbitrary limitations.
Ahh, the SPAN analyzer! I've used it before but completely forgot about it. It's a spectrum analyzer, right? Nice shout! And thanks for the other recommendations, you and Ghoststalker both recommend them, and I trust you both a lot, so I will check em out!

@needsmorecowbell Oh yes, Dexed! Thank you for reminding me, I used to have it!
Go for it! It works pretty well for composing piano in general, despite its gothic and grim name/design. I once wrote a poppy piano ballad, with Creepy Piano driving the whole song.
