In the beggining, I've spent some weeks memorizing the notes in the fretboard with exercises and that helped me a lot since then. I won't say it's instantaneous, but if I need a specific note or triad, I know where to find it. I guess with practice and improvisation, that can become easier. Have to try to use visual cues like you suggest. Great tips!
I think for me it almost became second nature to "see" what I was playing, rather than to (just) hear it. At least for a long time. I'm working on moving away from that now, but it's taken a long time to get to this point. Writing my own songs definitely helped accelerate that process. It provided a lot of structure and purpose to what I was doing. But I only got to this point by working hard on memorizing the patterns, shapes and notes of my paper. Btw, really looking forward to more music from you!
Great video man. I never realized the notes on the 7th fret were the same as the string above it, but that will definitely help as reference point a little further up the neck
I can’t believe your videos don’t have more views, this is superb
That's very kind. Thank you. Hope you're having a great day!
Really great video yet again!
