I really enjoyed the video tutorial....it helped me a great deal!!! I purchased both D&D Army Painter sets, then I watched the Owlbear video, followed the video instructions and it turned out great. It was the first time I had ever painted a mini (or anything but my house) so I'm pretty excited it turned out so well. Owlbear is ready to cause some havoc on the gaming table now! Great Job!!!
Washes are magic! If you (viewers) do nothing else to your pre-painted miniatures, try different washes on them. Like he says, it brings out the details so well and brings the character to life. Even mostly white painted characters benefit from a light application of a blue wash. Also, mostly black painted characters benefit from a light purple wash or drybrushing. For example, everyone's favorite magical panther, Guenhwyvar, is just a black blob in the lighting that most of us prefer to game in (who plays RPGs in blindly bright light?) unless you give her some highlights to bring out the details.
I am really shocked you guys aren't getting more views. These videos are really helpful. I would avoid the multiple cuts back to the narrator during the painting though.
Thanks for the feedback, sometimes people like to see the man, woman, or orc behind the lens. But thank you for the kind words, this is the first of many in our new video initiative, so slow going. That said, we have much more in store and hopefully more eyes will follow as a result.
Well it's fine to show the narrator at the start and maybe a few times during the video but dissolves between most of the painting steps like how Doctor Faust's Painting Clinic and other channels do it would be less visually jarring. Best of luck! I am looking forward to reviewing the new paint sets when they release.
@@TheArmyPainter The cuts are a little distracting, maybe drop the narrator in the corner and then we can see him talk us through it the whole time. Great technique visuals and narration. I'm surprised I didn't know y'all were posting videos sooner so I subscribed.
It is some month back that you asked, but I hope you acquired a wet palette. It is a really great tool for the hobby and you can find some good videos on RUclips how to use or even build them on the cheap. Give it a try! I almost forgot to mention: wet palette works great with all waterbased acrylic paints. Don't use it with SpeedPaints and not with Washes.
They are not, in fact all but 4 unique colours for D&D are exact matches to our Warpaints line to make replenishment simple and easy. The matching Warpaints name are listed on the label.
Oh no. Oh...dear. It does not void the warranty, but I'm afraid your playing partners will not like it. When you use our D&D paints on a Space Marine, that Space Marine now magically always rolls 6s. (Kidding)
No, not all D&D miniatures are pre-primed. There are multiple manufacturers of D&D licenses miniautes. Truth be told, I wouldn't trust the pre-primed stuff anyways, so when we're painting them we like to apply a thinned down primer coat just to be sure we get solid adherence.
@@eveast2556 In our experience, we've not gotten good adhesion from their pre-prime and we've found that to be true with our paints as well as other brands in our testing.
Honestly I love how my Minsc & Boo turned out but the instructions moved way to fast for this to be any kind of “easy” tutorial. Overall a good vid but maybe slow down for any further tutorials
using the same brush for matallic paint and regular paint is a mistake, the sparkling flakes in the matallic paint will ruin your brush. see it like washing your hair with sand.
No... The first thing you do is clean your miniature, wither it's metal or plastic. You should also trim/scape any seams with a sharp hobby razor, before Primer and Basecoat(s).
I have to say. This way completely useless to me unfortunately. I need to know how to use the paint bottles. Not how to paint a figure which is a very basic the thing people can easily figure out on there own.
Awesome tutorial! Very easy to follow, clear instructions and gives tips for beginners and more advanced painters. Thanks Adam!
Thanks so much Price!
I just got this set. Can't wait to paint it. I also got your washes. Looking forward to using them.
We're excited for you Michael!

So glad it helped! We'd love to see a photo of it, be sure to share it with us and tag us on IG or FB.
Thanks! I followed your advices and it turned out amazing. I'm surprised this video doesn't have more views. There are some very good tips.
Fantastic tutorial and superb production quality 😀
Coming from you, that's an honor!

Go for the eyes, Boo! Go for the eyes!
RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!
*Happy hamster noises*

Thanks man, I made mine black with a desaturated lighter purple cape but I love how it turned out.
Full plate and packing steel!
Minsc and Boo stand ready!
Color primer for the WIN! Seriously.
Fantastic video. I love Minsc and Boo so when I saw this, I had to get it. But also, Minsc is a ranger, not a barbarian. :)
Awesome video, but I can't find the washes. Are they renamed?
The Shadow Wash would be Dark Tone, Brown Wash is Strong Tone, and the closest colour to the Flesh Wash would be Strong Skin Shade :)
Great vid ...thx
Did the wash take care of the eyes or did I miss how to paint the eyes?
It seems the eyes were left shadowed. Then again, painting them can be quite the hassle.
Hey can we use wet palette with the paints included?

I never received Ethereal Blue in my monster paints, did the name change?
Can this work on Hasbro's Dungeons and dragons Forgotten Realms Drizzt and Guenhwyvar ?
This can work for any suitable miniature.
@@TheArmyPainter any miniature ?
yes you can use the colors as you want @@jeradpaulson771
I have a Problem with the shadow wash. It looks like brown. I tried shaking it more but it didn't work.
Does anyone know what the Problem is?
Are these a different formula to the base warpaints?

@@TheArmyPainter that's why I like your product. Also make more colors, I bought them all already.
Was hoping to see the quick shade but otherwise great tutorial!
We used a variation of the Quickshade Washes, but not the Dip. ;)
I,m in Viby J, do you sell retail from Hørning ?, or where can I buy in the Århus area .Physical stores. Tak.

why does the primed figure need to be primed? i thought all dnd minis were primed, i must be wrong.

w8, w8,w8 the thing on his shoulder was an animal?? I just painted it gold and called it a decoration
Yeah dood, that's Boo.........
It's cool brother, boo loves his new gold fur.

Ranger! not Barbarian ! xD
Mark T barbaric at best
Huh ?? Thought Minsc was a Ranger not a Barbarian !!
In our research, we found many people that classify him as a Barbarian Ranger. I know right?

I,m stupid. Just discovered your store locator.Ignore previous request. Sorry.
You're not stupid. Glad you found it!
Now this guy is good but I miss the voice of the guy from the ZBP videos.
Me too (guy in the video).

So this is the tutorial that comes with this set. No details shown and more colours used than contained in the set. This is not good.
