Yea some close ups on the detail technique with the feather lines, and the claws highlights would be great, and better lighting, but thank you guys at Army Paints so much, I know it's corny but me and my father have gotten back into painting models and minis after about 25 years of adolescence and life drove us apart, he still has my shitty paint job model planes, cars and minis from when I was a kid, lol, it's amazing how little things enhance life experiences and relationships, but I digress, your products and videos are great, I am working on my owlbear now and with this video im sure it's going to come out great. Thanks

Thanks for making these two kits! my local RPG store had a couple in stock, and a lot of the wizkids minis primed and ready to paint in the package. I thought that painting minis was hard, but I followed this guide on my owlbear and realized it really is pretty easy (although my owlbear is Bugbear brown, because I used the "wrong" color all the way through.)
your kits is easy to use, this guide was really easy to follow, and I think I'm ready to tackle some of these Wizkids minis over the winter.
much like Bobby Two Shades, my base was SLIGHTLY warped. Not enough that you couldn't use it at a game, but you could see it was just slightly warped while base coating the base. I think this is just because the base is less rigid than the rest of the model. Definitely going to keep your online store in mind when I feel confident enough to tackle the mountain of minis that is Kingdom Death.

    • @TheArmyPainter
      @TheArmyPainter  6 лет назад +1

Arluza, regarding the base being warped, that's a common side effect to producing resin miniatures. A simple way to fix it is giving the mini a rinse in warm water, enough to make the resin soft again, and then try to set it back into place. You can also use a hairdryer. Be careful not to distort the parts of the model that are in tact though. When you're ready to take on Kingdom of Death, be sure to share your work with us!

I ordered the paint set and love the owlbear mini but the base came warped. I started the oven and cooked a pizza, took the mini off the base and threw the base in the oven for about 4-5 mins. It's perfectly flat now and I'm eating pizza!

I asked a while back if you were planning on doing more D&D painting videos. I wanted to check if that’s still the plan.
I have bought both the monster and adventurer sets as a result of these videos. It I’d love to learn to paint more of the Nolzur’s Marvelous Miniatures line.
Army painter did a great job with covering a large number of minis with the tutorials for Zombicide Black Plague (which got me buying Army Painter supplies in the first place).
I am sure these videos are not easy or cheap to produce but they are great inducements to buy both your paints and the miniatures of your partners/affiliates.

    • @TheArmyPainter

Hey Mark, the short answer is yes, we do plan to produce more D&D tutorials. The long answer is that we have a LOT of other licensed products, tips and tricks we'd like to showcase on camera now that we have Adam (our video troll) chained to his chair in the studio. Adam is working on a Vault Of Dragons as well as a Guildball Kickoff! set tutorial, so be sure to stay tuned.

    • @TheArmyPainter

The Monster Paint Set was always meant to be an expansion to the Adventurer's Paint Set, which does include a Brush-On Primer. We highly advise priming the model first, if you don't want to purchase the entire Adventurer's Paint Set, we do stock a Warpaints Brush-On Primer which you can find on The Army Painter Paint Rack, or one of our Colour Primer Sprays to save you some time at the paint desk.

I know it is reviving an old Question, but I stumbled upon it and just want to answer it, may there be someone else reading the comments, so they do not have to look it up. He painted the base in bugbear brown and the rim in abyssal black. That are both colours from the adventurers main paint set, the Warpaints equivalents are Matt Black (WP1101) and Leather Brown (WP1123). In the video the painted base first appears at 8:04 that is not chronological. As I did not had bugbear at hand I tried to base the base with Orc Skin and then washed with Brown Wash which also gave a decent look after some brushing. Hope that helps someone.

For all who need to know the paints that you need before starting to paint the Owlbear, here are all the colors for the figure:
    Owlbear Brown
    Orc Skin
    Otyugh Brown
    Cambion Crimson
    Abyssal Black
    Lawful White
    Firenewt Orange
    Flesh Wash
    Brown Wash
    Minotaur Hide
    Lich Skin
    Ruddy Skin
    Fair Skin
    Pixiedust Pink
    Angelic Yellow
(If you want all these paints, they are in the *Monsters paint set* that came with the owlbear and the *Adventurers paint set*.)
Then these are for if you want to make the base (I didnt have any of these so I just painted the base in Owlbear brown and dry brushed it with Lich Skin):
    Battlefields glue
    Battlefields brown battleground
    Skeleton Bone (paint)
    Bugbear Brown (paint)
    Swamp Tufts
I hope this helps anyone who wants to follow the instructions exactly as they are in the video. :)
