In high school a rumor got started that I had once chased a kid around the halls of the school with an axe. I was on the track team and when we went to meets at other schools those kids had heard it too somehow. Total strangers would freak out when I told them my name. Oh my God! You're the axe guy!
Just verify any rumor you hear about yourself. Blows peoples minds.
I had several people on a message board say I had a restraining order against all fair grounds. I told them it was one trespass order that is easy to get. They then decided that a trespass order and a restraining order was the same thing and I was lying because it was all fair grounds. So I had to explain that they were claiming that over 100 pieces of land picked them themselves up and went to the local courthouse to file the paperwork. Then at a later date they picked them selves up and went back to the court, stood in front of a judge and proved that I was a danger to them when I had never even seen most of them. Pointing out that stupidity put an end to it.
When I was in 4th grade I was showing off on the swing set before school and wound up cutting my ear in half. It was bleeding a lot and freaking everybody out, which I thought was hilarious. So I started walking around showing all the other kids. Eventually I made it to the nurse and was sent off to the hospital to get stitches. Me not being around all day coupled with my disturbing display that morning led to the rumor that I was dead. My poor older sister was also in school with me at the time, and was not there when I hurt myself, so you can imagine how her day went.
Just remember everybody, it's like Oscar Wilde used to say. The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about.
The first (and only) time I drank a Monster energy drink, I was off the walls. Something in it mixed with a medication I was on and I couldn’t sit still for a second. It was insane and I was all over the place. I had several classes where people were entertained by my behavior, but one teacher (who was always a b) got all pissy about it and sent me to the nurse. I ended up having to go home and the school nurse (high school) thought I was on drugs and insinuated that to my mother over the phone. Apparently, since I was acting so insane and sent to the nurse and didn’t come back to class, someone started a rumor that I had been rushed to the hospital. That was pretty weird. Funny thing is, my doctor said that reaction was actually really dangerous and if I ever do that again I’ll probably go into cardiac arrest. Monster is now Forbidden Special Soda to me and I know I’d probably die but god damn if that wasn’t a fun day.
Oh and there was also a rumor (same HS) that my bf broke up with me bc I cheated on him with my (at the time) best friend. Best friend and I are both female. I guess ppl thought we were fucking but we were just really good friends. Then we were surprised later on when we both realized we’re gay! HS is fucking weird.
There was a rumor back then (about 8-10 years) that I was lesbian and I was in a relationship with both of my best friends. No proof. No nothing. They just assumed based on nothing. I’m not lesbian but you shouldn’t make fun of someone for something like that. Really stupid and immature.
Some people always 'know better' (or rather wholeheartedly believe so)...

I was the only skater/emo/goth/rocker whatever kind of kid in a school full of jocks preppy and hick kids. So of course everything that goes along with that. Oh also I’m Native American in a all white farm town school.
I was accused of wanting to shoot everyone, being on drugs, bringing a pillowcase full of knives to stab everyone, that I killed animals or worshiped the devil.
Then came high school and everyone is asking me to hook them up or if I can find this drug or that. But that’s also the same time I happened to start using so I instantly became the schools plug I didn’t even have to buy my own I just taxed everyone for being 2faced or talking shit about me.

My ex-fiance's nephew suggested that I was cheating with an older man that picked me up from work. That older man was my father.

Their were a lot of rumors of me being gay in high school simply because my friends we’re always by my side and how close were as friends. Note my friends are more like my deranged brothers

That I was magic. In reality I had a jacket with these really deep internal pockets. I would use these pockets to store stuff like water bottles, my lunch, various school supplies, etc. So people would see me Reach into my jacket and pull out all this stuff like a cartoon Character. My hand disappeared into my jacket and suddenly a subway footlong appears our of nowhere. Like I said, very deep pockets. Miss that jacket but I grew too big for it a long time ago.
Its pockets were deep enough to house a really interesting reputation as well 😀
Eat a salad and wear that jacket again
@@DarthBane-zf8wv Problem is height, not weight. I was a skinny SOB all through high school but had to ditch that jacket after Sophomore year because I grew a couple inches.

I suddenly left soon due to not knowing I had a genetic mutation and things went haywire. Somehow the rumour became that I was dead too, even though my best friend at the school was regularly updating everyone on what was going on...
Awhile ago, there was a rumor that me and a girl from my school were dating, I'm asexual and biromantic and she’s lesbian and we were and still are close friends. For clarification, I’m male, there is zero chance of us being a thing.
Edit for extra clarification: we still are rumored to be dating, kinda dumb tbh.
Some girl spread a rumor about me that I hap pneumonia because I coughed a lot. Turns out I had post nasal drip and they were loud wet coughs but I was socially isolated for a year and a half. This caused me to spiral into a deep depression and I'm still mad about it five years later but I can't say anything to her because I acted like we were ending on a good note our senior year but then the pandemic came and cut it in half and then her brother died so now I have to act like it didn't happen to not look like a bitch.
It's okay to be angry, she still hurt you! Bad things that happened to her doesn't erase the fact that you were hurt!
I had a teacher who hated my guts try to get the entire faculty to turn against me cause I filed a complaint against him and won. He tried to get me kicked out and said I "Threatened him at knife point" and even "Spread his eja****** on his desk in front of the class to intimidate him" 😂😂😂 Of course the complaints were thrown out cause most of the faculty, especially the higher ups, knew me and knew that's something that's just not in my character. Unfortunately the incident reports were destroyed as is SOP with cases that are thrown out but my vice principal told me the story over a couple of drinks a few years after I graduated High School
11th grade, prior to spring break everyone shared where we were going. I was going to San Diego (beach). One of the days there were crazy rip currents so my dad took us back to his place and we did arts & crafts (my little brother got to choose) and I cut my left thumb with an exacto knife. The ER doctor did a terrible job on the stitches and the wound looked jagged so when school resumed kids were saying I was bitten by a shark. I kept telling people the truth but nobody believed me. I wasn’t a badass in their eyes, rather an idiot who probably went fishing and was attacked removing the hook.
That a friend who had recently completely lost her marbles was saying I was chasing her around the Homecoming dance. I had to laugh because I made it known to my class (I was the class dancer, and a lot of people loved watching me) that I wouldn't be attending the Homecoming dance. When I was told about it, I simply laughed and continued sitting in the basement playing video games
I was both gay and had a girlfriend. Neither were true. Seriously- WTF, high school?

So like 11 years after I graduated high school, and I wasnt even popular in HS and moved away, I found out some people I didnt even really ever talk to in HS were spreading rumors that I moved to Missouri and was a bum on welfare. The most random thing. Like no, Im a college grad who met my state's Treasurer and built a professional political relationship and got a job with my State Treasurer's Office. But sure, make up whatever false reality you want about me. It's so dumb it's funny honestly.
There was a rumor that spread during 7th grade about me that I was crazy and would attack people. Honestly, I was affected by this because it hurt seeing people treat me like I was crazy and it was all because of a bully who thought I was too 'quiet'.
In biology class in high school there was a display of coral reef. Someone had put two origami goldfish in and I thought it was cute so I looked at them. There was a girl in my year who tried to bully me but she wasn't good at bullying.
This was shortly after the fairy odd parents came out so not many of us had heard of it and she asked me in a mocking tone if I was looking at them because I thought those were wish granting fish. I looked confused. She then told me that she bet I thought those fish were wish granting fairies. Cue more confusion. I had no response to this. Like none, it was so random and bizarre. I walked away.
She tried spreading around the school that I believed those fish were wish granting fairies. No one believed it but that did start a rumour she was on hard drugs. When we found out about the cartoon they started mocking her for liking kid's cartoons and being on hard drugs.

I got some pretty ridiculous rumors spread about me. In 4th grade a rumor spread that I got expelled quickly debunked as they realized that I am still attending school. Another one in like 3 or 4th grade I threw a chair at a teacher i never threw a chair but I wish I did for all the shit I got for that rumor. I have tons more stories but I’ll spare you my childhood trauma
I was in 10th grade and the rumor was I was pregnant. No, I was just a fat virgin.

I had 4 rumors. One in HS was that i made drugs, any and all. 2 after i graduated and dropped out of college twice and started working night shift was that i was in jail for starting a gang war even though I want in one and that i died in a fire. The last was at work that I sleep at work
That me and my friend/coworker was gay at work because he gave me paid rides to work. He had a baby mama and I had a gf that I lived with.
4 rumors, only one was partially true.
1. That I was muslim and a terrorist (was agnostic at the time, actively advocated that my class' middle eastern student was real cool.)
2. That I was a nazi and racist (I hate nazis and am against racism, though I used to make dark humor jokes.)
3. That I was gay/bisexual (never hung around many women, never had a girlfriend, never spoke about my love interests. I hate people and prefer being alone.)
4. That I ran an information web to get dirt on people (partially true, I used to dig up dirt on people that pissed me off and use it as leverage. Broke up a couple football players and cheerleaders.)
Apparently I was found drinking in a bar when I was 18
I didn't start going to bars and drinking at age 21

I was asked if I was pregnant because this guy told everyone that I was carrying his child. First thing, I need my uterus back and second sex should be involved. Both never happening.
I'm a triplet and the rumour going around was that we were the result of a science experiment - basically teenagers not understanding what IVF was. Another funny one was that I was my own identical twin sister depending on how I wore my hair. The other two are guys and none of us are identical.
My sister and I are only a year apart. When we moved and changed highschools during my Junior and her sophomore year for some reason people assumed we were dating. I have no clue why. We look incredibly similar. We did walk to classes and eat lunch together, but just because everything was new

I got back and everyone excitedly asked me where I went on my ‘holiday’… I had an identical twin in the same grade and a younger sister in the grade below us who weren’t sick and continued attending school for those two weeks, neither of them lied about me being sick.. I don’t understand how anyone thought I was off enjoying myself alone ‘on holidays’ smh

In reality I didnt pay no one and the people who started the rumours made fun of me for doing a party.
A lot of my classmates at highschool were trying to find out if I had a boyfriend, but only to find out when them it’s a waste of time and it doesn’t work out afterwards. It was weird being approached and asked if I had ‘said friend’ as boyfriend tho. Lots of miscommunication there most of my friends were boys so ig that’s where the rumour came from🤔
Weirdest rumor spread about me was that I was a super star football player on track to make it to the NFL if only I hadn't suffered a crippling neck injury. The truth is I sucked Assssssss. I was a defensive right end, so most games and practice I was just.. there LOL. I did score a few sacks by being a tricky little asshole and telling the kids on the other team they were blocking the wrong person XD
Near the end I discovered that being bigger than most of the other players meant I could push two of the other teams line back at once which I found funny, but I was never commended or anything for it. I wasn't told to do that it was just funny to me. Then one game I challenged someone twice my size, lost, we both fell backwards and he landed on my neck. (Yup that part was true) That killed my sports career, but it didn't permanently cripple me, mom just refused to let me play again. I was 8 when that happened.
Fast forward to middle school and I am built like Shaggy, and have guys twice my size coming and begging me to try out for the team because they heard all about my legendary performance, doing backflips before games, (The fuck?) leading the defensive line, etc. "I know you had a neck injury, but it's been years! You look fine you can play can't ya?!"
And suddenly, anthropo of nothing I became the cool X sports superstar cut down in his prime by an injury, a rumor that lasted until late into high school.
And I still don't know why or who even started it
But that's a good rumor not a bad rumor you were seen as a legendary that's cool ngl

Also I'm an introvert so having people just randomly come up to ask me about my time playing football was a bit much, especially in middle school, and it was odd just.. having the football team's respect for nothing

Consider yourself lucky. I had a rumor spread about me that I was a sexual predator/offender. My class had all of 130 students in a town of 7,500. I hadn't had a single date prior to that and definitely didn't after.
