Exploring Abandoned Hospital | What I Found Is Jaw Dropping!

  • In this episode, I'll take you inside an abandoned hospital that dates back over a century. This hospital treated many illnesses and diseases, but I'm warning you to look away now if you're squeamish. When looking deep inside the hospital's basement, I found these photos that perfectly illustrate what diabetic foot ulcers look like. Digging deeper, I found the Hyperbaric Chamber next to the images, and it all started making sense. Hyperbaric chambers are used for medical treatments that use 100% oxygenated air at higher pressure levels than the atmosphere, bringing more oxygen to the body. The increased pressure helps the lungs collect more oxygen, which can help the body heal and fight infections faster, including Gangrene, skin grafting, and skin ulcers, among many others.
    The hospital opened in 1911 and closed in 2012. Still, about eight years ago, some of the hospital's buildings were already undergoing demolition, making way for a new residential area. However, some of those buildings still remain and are about to undergo the same fate. So I ask you to join me inside and let's explore and see what else we can find.

Being a respiratory therapist I found this video very exciting, thank you that hyperbaric camber was so cool!!! In my years of practicing respiratory therapy I’ve only seen one and it was at U of L hospital!

    I cannot strongly enough suggest wearing N95 masks or a filtered respirator when moving through old buildings and vessels due to asbestos and lead paint issues.

    26:17 I love old office equipment! These are check protectors. They were used to keep people from forging/tampering with the amounts on checks. - That one didn't give the satisfying click because it needed plugged in.

    It’s creepy - I’ll bet it’s haunted. Pretty amazing how much the place has deteriorated in just 11 yrs

    In my younger days from around age of 28 to 38, I closed down several hospitals. I was in charge of a crew of movers who would go room to room clearing the items out & taking them to sections of the hospital where I would inventory everything. We then had people come from different hospitals or clinics in the system to tag things they wished to have. There were beds, tvs, chairs & couches,wheelchairs, dressers, just tons of things. After everyone got what they wanted, we sell off the rest. I’m very surprised this hospital didn’t do the same. There are things in there that should be and then there’s plenty of things that could be used elsewhere

    Hi Rick the thing you saw first is called a hoist it is forgetting you out of bad if you have been n a comma and haven't walked for ages amongst other reasons you would lay in bed and have to learn to walk again you would sit in a chair for the first week 15 minute sessions twice a day which would puff you out then you would walk around the hospital word on a frame for the next couple of weeks then you'd slowly get better and with the look be able to go home❤

    Yeah that would be a cool place to film a zombie apocalypse episode or scene. Those lifts for patients are commonly called Hoyers because it was the most common brand name, it was for patients that need complete help and more than one aide as well usually. At least that's my experience as a retired health care worker. Could be different now.

    • @user-pd8rl9dh3m
      @user-pd8rl9dh3m 3 дня назад

      They kept food in those freezers, a hospital that large would need large refrigerator and freezers to feed all the patients and for the snack bar for families and employees

    You usually can get to another building of hospital thru the basement which is a huge maze.
    The bed in classroom was set up to train on leg traction for pediatric patients. Those rods attached to bed frame can be configured for various traction needs based on patient injury.
