This is one of the most complete and well made videos I've seen on a build yet. Love the included screenshots of parts.
I've been looking to throw a small turbo on my Ford Escape for a little extra pep and this will do the trick.
crazy! 2 years later and this is exactly what i was looking for but for my 2010 Mazda 6 2.5. I'm assuming everything is almost identical. you're the goat!
YO THIS IS LIVE ASF lmaooo I always thought about doing this for a project but I mean now there are videos on how to do this lmao thanks man🙏🏽
Tbh it's not worth it unless you want to upgrade to arp head and main studs mine as well add manley rods why just do it for basically what you will end up with in a stock 2013-2016 fusion 2.0
@@neoknight14215 no trust me I’ve come to the realization that this car is better suited as a daily rather then a discount NASCAR😂
@Arthur-oo6de honestly I love what's being done here this is an amazing build. With this type of car mind I would urge the builder to purchase a Ford Fusion 2014 Titanium 2.0 add arp head and main studs, & manley rods to the engine and build from there. I will be adding a catless downpipe and a tune with 245 35 18 tires and aftermarket rins to my fusion for next season. Once I replace all of the camber bolts I might add the adjustable camber arms & upgrade the shocks I'm either gonna end up with lowering springs or bc racing adjustable coilovers. My car has truly gained a ton of respect in my local car community. I never expected it to do this.
@Arthur-oo6de I believe that if you really want a unique build and to shock people with a true Sleeper build the fusion is the perfect platform for that and very frugal.
Dude you were really helpful. Thank you so much for doing this video, I'm currently trying to turbo my Mazda 6 with the same engine. Props to you bro 🙏🏻😎
Good luck!
Really planning on manual swapping my CX-7 and mounting a turbo on the 2.5 soon,a lot of questions answered…thanks for the video!
So I can use the stock 2.5 ecu with a sct x4
Many fusion builders are far better than ford shop mechanics. Honestly I love what's being done here this is an amazing build. Great DIY video!!! Really well-made tutorial!!
Thank you so much bro! I have a 2010 with 2.5l manual trans. I'm going to do this very soon
I will also get the 6 speed manual awd trans and rear diff, drive shaft, and other components from an Mazda speed6...Mazda built what the fusion could've been.
Where did you find the MT? I CAN'T FIND ONE ANYWHERE
@@MikediFazioI just happened to stubble across it, I live in Houston. I rarely see them up for sale, but this car had low mileage and was and SEL with a sunroof. I just bought some new Goodspeed SSmono coilovers and will be installing them soon.
Didnt even know they sold the ford fusion in manual lmao
@@christiandemarcus2257 they are rare, and mostly used on the 2.5l in the fusion line-up. Believe it or not, I worked at Ford and used to see some 2013-2015 fusions with a 6 speed manual, just ultra rare. The 2010-2012 Mazda 6 was basically a ford fusion with ford engines. The 6 speed manual in the fusion is the same transmission used in the Mazda 6, except its paired with a 3.7v6. The trans is rated for over 350 hp and toque because of the v6. They also have a 6 speed manual but with awd system attached, I found one wrecked in a junk yard over here, I'm looking at buying it and swapping the drivetrain. The Duratec 2.5 in my car is almost exactly like the Duratec 2.3 in the Mazda SPEED6, except it is turboed. I was going to swap turbo parts and see what kind of power my car makes makes.
dude this is awesome! i never thought the 2.5 would actually be able to handle boost. This is exactly the kind of video i was looking for as ive been wanting to build my fusion as i really quite enjoy the look of the 2nd gen prefacelift versions. Since so many speed3 parts are compatible with this engine would aftermarket speed 3 cams be a viable option? Im just worried about it affecting the vvt. Im sorta new to the whole car building thing and im just worried ill break something.
No they won’t work. You’ll need 2.5 specific cams from fab9 or esslinger.
@@jrboostin i figured as much. i knew it wouldnt be that easy
@amentiamurna9335 of course not and your just gonna learn a build and when you are done you will just end up being better off buying a gen2 2.0 bc that probably what the power will be like
Thank you!
I'm building a similar setup for an early Gen focus. Currently with a 2.0, but I'm planning on the 2.5 swap. Did you build the 2.5? Or stock engine?
LET'z GOOOOO!!! MY GUY !!! #FusionWORLD
Any chance you could elaborate on the blow by issues you encountered and your personal solution. Mazdaspeed groups all saying gap the rings and all that. Did you just buy new rings or buy a new engine any input would be appreciated. Like evryone else in here has said 10/10 video man, thanks for making and sharing it
I have a 2012 fusion Sel and i have costume cold intake going into fly wheel oil catch can. Performance ignition coils and spark plugs . 3”in pipes and magaflow mufflers and throttle control module pedal commander. Really good. I recommend. But now I’m figuring out if i should tune it first or start trying find the turbo set up and how to find the closets kit that could fit it.
Could u give me the links of ignition coils and spark plugs, ive been looking for some
Tune always
nicely done!
Do a tutorial on your diffuser I want to make one
2022 ford Nationals event in Carlisle fairgrounds Pennsylvania. Bring it out for the car shows. Maybe I'll see you there
I’d love to go another year and build another, however this car is sold. Next time I’ll do it right and fully build the engine and trans.
Plan on swapping my focus to a 2.5 just have to save up for a car to drive in the mean time
As far as the injectors I noticed you said 550cc dets but are they drop in injectors ?Did you have to change the clips or were they plug and play
Dang man very cool
Very thorough! Love it!
Is it possible to swap out the intake cam to one from an Ecoboost mustang? Thanks.
Not sure, with how different the ecoboost 2.3 is from the duratec 2.5 It might be tricky? Im sure you could make something work though.
That’s cool man. I own the 2010 Fusion Turbo MRT SEMA car. I’m trying to learn about it.
Follow me on insta @.jr_boostin would love to see it
Im building a 2010 Ford Fusion 2.5 manual transmission car, im naming the car "Project Confusion". Im using a lot of MazdaSpeed 6 Corksport parts, im even looking at swapping the MazdaSpeed 6 awd system. By the way, I've followed you car since 2012, It is an amazing car. I was going to buy a Fusion Sport, but ended up finding a 2010 Ford Fusion 2.5 with the manual transmission with 78,000 miles back in 2019.
I have a 2017 Ford Fusion can I do this set up on it or is it only for the eco boost ?
Is the 1.8 petrol duratec engine from mk3 ford Mondeo the same any info is appreciated thanks.
I have a 2.5 fusion swapped Miata and I hope this helps
Now that's a new one
Always wanted to do this.
Im planning to turbo my focus and this video is very helpful. But now I thing of swaping a 2.5 in it and turbo it. Do you think it would be harder to make it work?
No it would be pretty easy to go from the 2.3 to 2.5 although your money and time is better spent building the 2.3
Where did you get your injectors from?
I have a 2012 2.5 w the automatic is the trans gonna be able to handle this
Decent. Hopefully my second gen with a 2.5 is still alive in a year or so, I may do this when I have a second vehicle and some extra cash. The sport mode on the tranny is better than L that chevy still uses. Still useful for limiting rpm range until you want full range of gears tho, I mean I remember I'd often just leave it in L2 or L3 for some fun city driving when I had my Malibu.
I definitely wouldn't go over 10psi as I wouldn't want to enlarge as much as you did but I am curious what you did to strengthen/ replace anything block/cylinder/ camshaft -wise? Any issues come up since? I'll have to comment-surf..
Stock internals, would be worthwhile power gains to do cams for sure and if you have money and time definitely do pistons at least for peace of mind. But if you’re fine with a potential for more headaches the stock engine can handle 10psi fine
When you did the zip kit did you open the trans up and to the one internal pressure regulator too? Or just the valve body upgrades?
Just valve body; I don’t think I did anything else
Have you had any reliability issues after the modifications?
These videos are sick. Can you make more??
Sold the car :/
Great video. I'm considering this setup in a Locost build. What do you think, roughly how much HP/TQ this setup makes?
Probably 270-300
@@jrboostin Thanks for that. Any idea on the torque? I will be using an NA Miata 5 speed. I believe, that can take safely around 240 tq.
@@19mati67 not sure but na it’s 170, so I’d just start at 5psi
You the best 🎉
I wonder if the turbos from the Taurus SHO's 3.5L Ecoboost would fit on the 3.5l v6 in the Fusion Sport.
There's another guy on RUclips who swapped out to the Lincoln turbos. He did a dyno too and saw an improvement.
@@RogeriusRex You got a link for this guy? I want to see it!
What 5 speed Mazdaspeed3 trans pairs up with the 2.3l in an 06 fusion? Like what would’ve been the stock 5 speed?
Yes any speed trans
i don’t know too much abt cars and the fancy stuff. does this work with a 2011 fusion?
Yes. That’s the car I did this to. All bolt on beside the intercooler mounts.
hi which one can you tell me what is the model of these wheels? congratulations on the car.
Rotiform blq
I am going to buy an engine to build it for my visual pack fusion and want to slap on an ebay turbo for fun what is something i should look out for befor getting a random turbo
The size, too big and it’ll never spool, too small and you will have too much torque.
I might have missed it but can the stock intake manifolds handle boost or is it a good idea to get a ms3/6 one?
This intake can handle decent boost. Besides the speed6/3 one is a different design all together with a bottom mount throttle body. I wouldn’t worry until you’re in the 25-30 range for boost.
Do you have any other socials? I’m getting a second motor to swap into the car because current one has a rear main seal leak, I saw the sema build of the 2010 sport awhile ago, m and have Been wanting to try and turbo the 2.5
Jr_boostin on Instagram
Im doing a custom job to a fusion. Does the sct tuner come with a turbo option.
No
I turbo my 2.5 2010 Escape by using almost similar parts (T3T4 turbo by welding an adapter on Mazda 3 manifold) but I didn't find this video so I did a lot of research. I just end up 8 psi with 200 hp to wheel as tuner suggest. Your mentioned 300 hp is to wheel or on engine side? How much of psi have you tune for?
About 10 but I keep up with wrxs and evos. You have a video about your car up?
Jr Boostin No I don't have vedio. But finally I make everything work without any check engine light or problem light. And it is good for every day drive now.
Jr Boostin My tuner just said keeping only 8 psi is safe and durable, unless doing further reinforcement inner engine block.
Where did you order sandwich plate I'm doing same build but on the 2.3l with a 5 speed manual trans but having trouble finding sandwich plate?
ebay special.
Would this same setup still apply to the 2006-2009 2.3L
Similar yes
Hey men i get this car some weeks ago and i got some questions about oil lines
What questions do you have?
For which generation Fusion this is suitable to? Is it applicable for 2017 2.5 Duratect Fusion?
I believe they made no significant changes to the 2.5 ever. So yes but dont hold me liable.
Nice video! Can I do this to my 2012 3.0 sel?
V6
Does anyone know if a 2010 3.5 l v6 awd fusion sport can handle any boost? It's a 6 speed auto with manual up down 263 stock horsepower
Yes they can handle a couple pounds, nothing remarkable.
How much hp would I gain if I did this?
So they do sell Mazda 3/6 turbo kits for a good price on eBay do you think I could get a kit and make it work with a few extra modifications/ parts?
sure could
Do you pull the engine out the top? Or do you drop the subframe?
Ideally because it is a transversely mounted engine you should drop the engine and trans out the bottom. However in a garage that is difficult so I recommend pulling the crash structure and pulling up and out of the front.
Hows the turbo fusion holding up?
Do you plan on getting forged internals?
Or does it hold it's boost well stock?
For the time I had it, internals were great on 10psi. The issue was oil AN lines I made popping off. If I still had it I would’ve done a mazdaspeed transmission and then after that built the engine
@@jrboostin glad to know it handles it's boost, I was going to just keep it at 5 to 8psi after I got it set up
@@josephc4768 it’s definitely worth it if you can fork out the cash. Lots of fun
Hi, I'm buying a 2020 Fusion 2.5, do you know what else is needed to turbo that? Or is it the same basically?
thats a whole different engine the reason you can boost this engine is because its the same engine as a speed3 parts are wasy to find and it can handle boost
The K04 is way too small for the 2.5. A better match would be a T04E or a GT3071R. Cool build regardless, sad to see it sold.
Good fit on a budget if I had more money for sure would’ve went top mount and a Garrett. Thanks for commenting, your build inspired this thing.
Would these parts fit on my 2011 Transit Connect? It's pretty gutless and have thought of putting it a manual transmission and turbo. I think the 4 speed auto won't be able to handle any more power.
Is it a 2.5?
2.0 Duretec.
@@Topper-gf8xl then no. You might be able to swap the head out for a 2.5 head but I’m not so familiar with the 2.0 na fitment. There are multiple fb groups dedicated to duratecs. I would ask there

I've always wanted to boost mine. I might find another 2.5 and build it, rebuild my tired 220,000 mile transmission, then have a little fun with a fresh 15 pound 2.5. How much WHP do you think you have around 10 psi? 250ish?
Yea probably about that. Your newer 6f35 can handle some more power and same with a fresh engine. 15lbs I’m guessing would put you at 270-300 hp
@@jrboostin Man thanks for the reply. Mine is a 2011 and I have owned it for ten-years which is the only reason I would consider putting money into it. I couldn't have bought a more reliable car than this Fusion.
That is awesome to hear you say how reliable your Fusion has been. I bought a 2012 Fusion 3 months ago and it has been great. I got it with only 90,000 klm "canadian" on it. I have always had Toyotas but I really loved the way this Fusion looked and it was local. I am glad it basically has a Ford built Mazda engine in it. ☺👍
@@evan937 The style of the 2010-2012 Fusion caught my attention quickly. After researching and talking to a few technicians at a Lincoln and Ford dealerships, I was sold. All told me they regularly serviced 200,000+ mile 2.5 equipped Fusions. This was back in 2012 too! I would be willing to bet if one of these models was serviced properly and mostly driven on the highway, they could easily reach 500,000 miles.
@@PatriotPlus179 I currently have 222625 on the dash in my 2.5, I don’t think it’s ever been rebuilt or anything either. If it lasts till 300k I think I’m gonna go for this turbo setup we’re watching here lol
thinking about putting a turbo in my fwd 2012 ford fusion sport. how much of difference do you think this would make when it’s comes to horsepower and overall speed?
On a sport? Really depends on what and how you do it. That’s gonna be a pain in the ass but if you think your trans can handle it maybe you could get 350 reliably?
@@jrboostin There is an article on someone taking the ford 3.5 Eco boost turbos and installing it on the 3.5 na motor. It barely fits. Look up "2010 Aaron Vaccar Signature Series Fusion / Ford Fusion Concept", you find a lot of articles and pictures of the car.
