Almost like my old truck at the end. A 4.3 V6 with a Flowmaster with a softball sized rust hole in the back and no tailpipe. Loud and droned for days.

Justin Hartway No matter what you do, it's always going to sound kind of like an lawnmower, because it's a 4 cylinder. But a full exhaust (headers too) with resonators always sounds pretty cool, even if it isn't a V8.

There is nothing like hearing your car for the first time, after that first exhaust mod. It’s always enjoyable, and entertaining.....even when it comes out sounding like shit.
That being said....it doesn’t sound bad. On the outside. I had a Ford Edge Sport with the 3.7L and straight piped it...it sounded like ass on the inside, too. The outside sounded pretty nice.

I have a 2015 Ford Fusion and I've heard they have aluminum hoods. So I'm wondering if that is true. Not only that, but I have a good size dent and swatch of paint missing in the rear quarter panel and it's not rusting. Do you know how much of the car is aluminum or how I can find out?

Does it make a difference in sound removing the piping and leaving it like that vs removing the piping and actually adding a 2.5” straight pipe? Because I’ve removed my muffler before on my 2016 Hyundai Veloster and it sounds pretty good, but I’m planning on doing an actual muffler delete and want to know if it actually makes a difference in sound

I'm assuming you took off everything from the end of the downpipe back? It doesn't sound too much different than my 2013 2.0EB with a muffler delete. The drone was horrible the first few thousand miles, but the car has gotten used to the vibrations put out by the exhaust. It's still drone-y though.

That isn't technically straight piped, that is no exhaust. Straight pipe would actually have exhaust pipes dumping out to the rear with some sort of tips. I bet it would sound better with exhaust pipes going to the back with 3 fiberglass resonated tips. I had 1994 Taurus with a turbo muffler and a 3 inch fiberglass resonated tip that sounded pretty great back in the day.

That said, where I come from "straight piped" is removing everything from the down pipe back and replacing it with a long, hollow "straight" pipe so the sound still comes out the back. What you have done is more like "headers only", where you disconnect everything from the headers back. Not sure if you removed the catalytic converter (i think you did but called it the "small front exhaust, but i might be wrong).

I've only straight piped two vehicles that sounded great afterwords. 78 Ford f-350 camper special, and a Pontiac vibe. I used to get a couple tuners a month asking what exhaust I ran on the vibe. Sounded better than any can I've heard since on a 4 cylinder.
