Same here. But they died before I became interested in the family history. I'd love to have asked my paternal grandfather to tell about his time in France during WWI and about his father, who died when he was about 13. My maternal grandmother was the only one to live until I was an adult and became interested in the family history, and while I did ask about her family, I realized when she was gone just how much more I should have asked. So it's good to see Christian being able to talk to his grandfather.

I was very close to my grandfather. I used to sit and listening to his stories about things that fell of trucks, his time in Vietnam, his heart aches, and the work he did to build our family. He died in 2020 at 84 years old. Watching this video made me cry like a little bitch in the gym this morning. I miss these conversations with my granddad. This was beautiful.

Been trying to find the right 14mm mens strap or band so that I can wear it in respect. He spent his entire adult life working his tail off to make sure his family had everything they needed.

Amazing how his grandfather rejects compliments. He shrugs them of, attributes them to "a lot of people". Life has made him selfless. He talked about his whole life just by mentioning other people's stories.
Refreshing, especially when you are surrounded by the "look at me" generation.

Oisin with Timeless Watch Channel makes some very moving videos. This video was very touching, it hit me on a personal level. My Grandfather passed away in 1997 at the age of 97. He worked for the L&N Railroad for 45 years. He had such an interesting life and I loved sitting and listening to his stories even as a young child. About 10 years prior to his passing, my father recorded several hours of his life story. Unfortunately, the tapes were lost in a move about 6 years ago my parents had made. I got into watches a few years ago and when I am able I want to buy an Omega Railmaster. I'm not sure he had one, but like you, I feel like it would somehow be part of him. Much in the way you feel about your Omega matching your Grandfathers. It is a connection to someone I greatly admired and looked up to. I can't wait for the day. I'm so glad you can get these conversations on camera.

Thank you for sharing your Grandfather with us… He reminds me so much of my Italian grandfather growing up in Jersey also… I was recently gifted my grandfather’s watch that my grandmother gave him back in 1952, I got it serviced and now I can think of them both every time I wear it. There’s just something about watches and storytelling that stand the test of time. Thank you sincerely. Love your channel!

Thank you, Christian, for this. I’ve mentioned it before here, but I’m a New Jersey guy...my family all came from New York, and before that, Sicily. You see where I’m going here lol. And if that connection wasn’t enough, I have a 1952 Seamaster that I recently got from my mother in law after my father in law passed in 2020. So this video runs especially deep with me. I hear your grandfather speak, and it’s like my father is right there, talking about his 41 years working for Con Edison. I have his 1964 Le Coultre from his wedding and his Hamilton from his retirement. Thank you so much for this well needed bit of nostalgia.

I loved watching this video. It's so important to collect stories from one's own grandparent(s). My very last grandparent, my paternal grandmother, passed away last year at the age of 97. She had a hip replacement and had beaten Covid-19 twice (one before the hip replacement and once after the hip replacement). i kept saying that i would visit her to catch up and collect family history, but i attend college in Tucson, Arizona and she was in an assisted living facility in Wisconsin. I wish i could have recorded family history from her words and stories.

The amount of intimacy that the audience was privileged enough to witness here is amazing. It speaks to Christian's dedication to storytelling. This makes me feel just as if I am sitting at my own grandfather's dinner table, as I so often did growing up. The one big difference here is that if this were me, I would be talking to my grandfather about the watch that my grandmother, the matriarch of the family, made him sell. A Rolex that was a gift to him from Avis Rental Car for his many years of service. Boy do I wish he still had that watch so I could have this exact conversation with him! But its not really about the watch, rather the time spent with one another. Great video.
