Don't feel too bad. I have 2 swarms and for some reason hit a wall making the step to dyson sphere. I focused on white science and got it to 400k hash a second and finished research. Now the real game begins.
So sick, this was the first automation game I played and you literally held my hand through my entire playthrough and I couldn't be more grateful. Thanks Nilaus!!
This is the opposite of what a trailer for a game should be. It has no context, no narraration, vanilla music, and absolutely ZERO relevance to anyone who may want to purchase the game. If this were the original trailer to the game I would not have wasted 2 months hoping this "lets play" series wouldnt end with Nihilist guy making this incredibly lame completion video. I think this game really gets the sense of scale down pat. From your first planet, your first system, your first cluster, all the way to your first dyson. You keep expanding but still find more to expand into. Harvesting entire systems to feed your monstrous projects in space. There really isn't any other game out there that can bring that experience. Very promising game and I can't wait to see where it goes!
Yeah, and now you got an ever growing threat/opponent who is competing with you for those resources, and will gradually ramp up attacks against you, so you have to eventually fight back. There was a REASON your mecha had an HP guage! (hidden in the mecha panel for the longest time, but it was there!)
AWESOME! Nilaus, the amount of time you spent putting this video together was so worth it. That shot at 7:07 is amazing . This is probably the most amazing timelapse of a game ever and would make a great trailer. Brovo to you on this and Bravo to the devs for the amazing game that allowed this to happen.
You killed it man! That was so awesome, Thank you for working so hard for making these great video's for us. I'm a big fan of your channel and I feel like you are going to see more people come to realize what a talent you truly have.

7:08 something about this shot alongside the music playing really mesmerizes me. Seeing something incredibly enormous like a Dyson Sphere look incredibly small really puts into perspective just how vast the universe is, let alone just our own solar system.
Can we all just take a moment to appreciate that this view of what a black hole would "look like" comes directly from the movie Intersteller? They created custom software and hired a physicist to try and make it as accurate as possible. An actual scientific paper was published with their work!
Important to note that both representations (Interstellar and this game) are only visible because of the accretion disk formed by the blackhole consuming - presumably - a star (I don't know if other massive objects would work as well, such as gas giants, gas clouds, other blackholes, etc.). Just to kind of clarify (in case anyone thought that they "normally" look like this): blackholes are almost always *extremely* dim, emitting hawking radiation far fainter than the human eye can see, or having a gravitational lensing as they pass in front of light objects. Very impressive work.
Considering that black holes are the only star bodies that will survive the far future yes, building an energy collector around one is perfectly valid.

That was a stunning Time lapse. Really the visuals are by far the best aspect of this game. It really dose a good job capturing the scale of construction. It would be interesting if they would introduce different types of mega-constructions... Like if you could upgrade a Dyson Sphere to a Shell and build on it both/either on the inside or outside. It would be kind of impressive to rebuild your factory infrastructure of a massive shell around one of the ultra-large blue-giants... basically using the sun to power the whole of your production chain. And just have resources from the whole cluster flooding into that one point. I for one am interested to see what they do with this game as it moves forward. The early access was pretty impressive, and they seems like they have plenty of room to expand!
Just got back to the game after a year or so, and I'm only trying to decide if this is the coolest thing I've ever seen, or the second coolest thing I've ever seen. WOW, well done!
This is beautiful - also very nice soothing spacey music! And I share the pain that it takes FOREVER for all the sails to be fired - I learned the hard way that making max sized sail areas with a minimum of nodes is NOT a good idea, as the speed of filling up the area is limited by the capacity of the surrounding nodes to swallow sails and put them into the sphere. Should I ever design another large Dyson Sphere again, I'll certainly put in a lot of intermediate nodes even on straight connections so that the filling of the area is only limited by my sail production/firing capacity and not by the number of nodes.
After watching this series, and playing DSP myself, I can't wait to see what other scenarios you come up with for future sessions with the game. Looking forward to them!
