The audience was mesmerized by Kasey's performance, and paid her the ultimate respect. If this had been a very large venue, you definitely would have seen movement; but the seating in a civic(movie type) theatre are fixed, there's not a lot of room to move about.
Lose Yourself is a song in 2 parts. The 1st part is like a 3rd person describing what the performer is going through and the second is the performers view. " vomit on HIS shirt.." 3rd person view. "I'M in pain inside" Performer's view. Kasey saw it, divided the song in half and went to brilliant land.
Yes, they were dumbstruck as it was a departure from her usual music. They were also in a tiered theatre where you couldn't stand up and move around during a performance for safety reasons. Their reaction at the end tells you how much they were blown away by her performance.

Keep in mind she's a country musician, and this is a rap song, that you wouldn't really expect a frenzied stadium mosh-pit response from her audience (plus I have read that as they were professionally recording it, that they requested a more muted response). I was totally blown away when I first “experienced” this Phenomenal performance, amazing arrangement & pure to the emotional interpretation of Em’s masterpiece - just legendary!! Em gave her his permission (or the owner to the rights of the song) to release on Spotify, that says it all 👏👏👏 She is aged 46 at the time of this performance 2022. I’ve always been a fan of Kasey, she is a freakin amazing & talented musician, artist & woman. But this was next level genius & so personal for her. He has the same agility as Perry but more versality than Perry because he can slide at will through gravel, open belts and head voice. Farnham has a warmth at all levels of his range. Agree with the lip syncing… you only need to look at any artists throats and diaphragms to tell if they are singing live or not. Pentatonix (all member iterations) are phenomenally awesome though, live or not!! As far as I know, songs do not become public domain, i.e. out of copywrite, until 50 years past the songwriters/composers death, so I’d guess that as Simon is still with us, that anyone who records The Sound of Silence would still have to pay the copywrite fee. Marcelito is a phenomenon in himself..his vocals are insane, however, as great as this version is, you really need to check out his live performances on Phillipines Got Talent and America’s Got Talent… and that will answer your question of whether he can sing Beauty and The Beast by himself or not…. 😉😂 BUT, but, hold the phone… Kasey with Lose Yourself is just absolutely beyond! She doesn’t just top this line up in your reaction but hmmm…sorry Marshall/Eminem, Oscar winning song or not, this song is our Kasey’s now!!! 😂❤We Aussies are so proud of this woman. She has been singing her whole life, first with the family band, then solo. Becoming the youngest ever artist to be inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame. Kasey has a great catalog of music you need to react to. Part of the reason that Kasey’s version is so good is that she is a big Eminem fan and because she has lived those lyrics and feels them to her soul!!! Her Dad (Bill) is on slide in this too, and can we just mention Kasey shredding that banjo like a guitar?? Just cannot say how much I love this performance from Kasey! BTW…this was recorded at the Newcastle theatre, a tiered theatre, where the audience was pretty much structured to stay in their seats. The audio was professionally recorded during the performance but the video was a mix of phone recordings from audience members after requests from Kasey’s team to submit recordings taken during the show. ❤❤❤
