    Fantastic collection, sir! Personally, I like to keep a 50 count desktop humidor filled with some of my favorites (and some very mild smokes, for guests) on display. I keep my boxes and long term storage cigars in a tupperdor... they are lifesavers. 👍

  • @YTviewer118
    @YTviewer118 2 месяца назад +1

    The collection is impressive, but storing them in a mere storage box does a great disservice to the craftsmanship that goes into making cigars. Beyond the financial investment in such a collection, cigars require the right environment to age and develop their flavors properly. They deserve to be housed in a proper humidor, where temperature and humidity are controlled to ensure they remain in optimal condition and improve over time.

    • @NotUrGuru
      @NotUrGuru  2 месяца назад +4

      lol bro I hear you but my cigars are in the most controlled environment they can possibly be in. They aren’t just sitting in a box with no thought involved. These are weather proof containers that lock in and lock out moisture. My cigars stay at 64-67RH and 68-70 degrees Fahrenheit year round. I have hygrometers to keep track of the RH and temp, I have Bovedas as my 2 way humidifiers, and I have a humidmeter so I can individually check my cigars to ensure they all in the best possible shape. I nerd out on the things I’m into. And cigars are no different

    • @YTviewer118
      @YTviewer118 2 месяца назад

      @@NotUrGuru I get that you’ve put a lot of thought and effort into creating an optimal environment for your cigars, and it sounds like you’ve got a solid setup with the weather-proof containers, hygrometers, Bovedas, and a humidimetre. However, have you considered that a true humidor specifically crafted for cigars might offer additional benefits?
      Humidors are designed to maintain a stable environment specifically tailored for cigars. They often have Spanish cedar linings, which not only help to regulate humidity but also impart a desirable flavor to the cigars. Additionally, the aesthetic appeal and traditional craftsmanship of a well-made humidor can enhance the overall experience and value of your cigar collection.
      While your current system seems effective, a dedicated humidor might provide an even more refined and enjoyable way to store and appreciate your cigars. Plus, it could potentially offer better long-term preservation and aging conditions.

    • @whiskyandsports2964
      @whiskyandsports2964 2 месяца назад +1

      @@YTviewer118You’re incorrect, I’ve been smoking since 1993 and switched over to Tupperware and acrylic in 2021 and my cigars have never been in such immaculate condition and as a bonus, 60 gram Bovada packs don’t dry out in plastic, mine are 3+ years old now and they’re in the same condition as they were on day 1. I have everything from Cuban to new world stored in new era humidors, try it before hating on it, you’ll be extremely impressed.

    • @YTviewer118
      @YTviewer118 2 месяца назад

      @@whiskyandsports2964 I’ve tried various storage methods and, in my experience, non-plastic humidors have always been reliable. To suggest otherwise ignores our differing experiences. I currently store over 1,500 cigars and 30 boxes in well-maintained humidors.
      Plastic humidors, even if lined with cedar, typically do not benefit cigar aging as much as traditional wooden humidors for several reasons:
      Humidity Regulation: Wooden humidors, especially those made from Spanish cedar, naturally regulate humidity levels. The wood absorbs and releases moisture, maintaining a stable environment which is crucial for aging cigars. Plastic humidors lack this natural buffering capacity, leading to potential fluctuations in humidity that can adversely affect the aging process.
      Aroma and Flavor: Spanish cedar imparts a subtle, beneficial aroma to cigars over time, enhancing their flavor profile. This aromatic interaction is a key aspect of the aging process. Plastic, even if lined with cedar, does not provide the same depth of interaction, limiting the flavor development that occurs in a traditional wooden humidor.
      Temperature Control: Wooden humidors tend to offer better insulation compared to plastic, helping to maintain a consistent temperature. Fluctuations in temperature can impact the aging process, potentially leading to the development of mold or the drying out of cigars.
      While plastic humidors may be convenient for short-term storage or travel, they do not provide the same benefits for aging cigars as traditional wooden humidors. The natural properties of wood, especially Spanish cedar, create an ideal environment for cigars to mature and develop their full potential.
