The BYD Han (EV) is an amazing car for its price. They are everywhere in China and for a good reason.
Never thought I would like green on a sedan, but that emerald/jade colour does the trick for me.
A very chinese colour
俗话说的好:要想生活过的去,头上就要带点绿“。
It looks better than the model 3 for sure.. The Han looks simple yet futuristic. The right hand drive is welcome in Singapore and other countries. The Forest Green looks gorgeous for me, the Dynaudio speaker set looks Hot. I own Dynaudio speakers at home 🏡
I have been driving this car for 1.5years, absolutely live it. it is so plush, and powerful. premium leather seat with heat ventilation for all seats, real wood trims. it is like seating in my living room, and spacious like mercedes e or bmw 5 series if not more.
Wow! Thank you for sharing. I can’t wait to get one myself only if they were available in the US.
Cannot wait for RHD version of BYD Han. It will be a hit.
Thank you for sharing, what is the price please?
@@itlearner1175 i paid about 290k rmb for the top trim, roughly 45k usd at the time.
@@chuckgoodwish3897 The US regulators probably have something to say. You know, it's from China, our enemy country.
If this car comes to Canada I will buy it in a heartbeat.
👍😎
You and me both
It will never come here the government and the car industry will never let it happen, they wouldn't be able to screw us out of as much money as they can.
impossible., Canada, Australia & UK have to show loyalty to US and will continue to ban Chinese cars for "National Security"
@@jimbradbury7470 they'll be here eventually the first couple models were just approved for Canada
The sleek design harks back to the elegance of the 1960s/70s BMWs and Audis but with a modern twist, I love it - and the price/specs.
The Thailand news made my day. My wife and I talked solar for our house in the city and country yesterday. Hope we can use the car for storage.
Definitely
Great car! Unfortunately I went to the New York International Car Show today...and BYD, which I recently invested in, wasn't at the show. Can't wait to see it in the flesh and test drive one.
Dynaudio inside, wow, that is very serious wrt sound quality!
It's a great moment that BYD and other Chinese made EV companies make their moves towards int'l market with premium quality and exquisite design.
Did you guys see this?
"Tesla says ‘nearly half’ of the vehicles it produced in Q1 equipped LFP batteries" (Teslarati).
BYD HAN and Nio are my favourite Evs at the moment.
Looks beautiful. LFP is the chemistry I would like from safety and longevity points of view. Hopefully I will be able to have a test drive in Perth sometime in the next decade. I've been spuiking EVs since about 2009 and I am really getting a bit impatient about getting one.
Made under authority off the same killers like in Russia....how will you have fun with it....🤣 if they come to conquer Australia?
spuiking
If this is around $70k Australian in Australia, I think it will be a strong competitor with Tesla Model 3.
It sells at 50000-60000 AUD in China before a large amount of government subsidies (around 15k AUD).
Tesla and Toyota are now using LFP batteries from BYD. However, there cars are more expensive than what BYD produces. Plus BYD have beautiful interiors (not Tesla) and advanced tech (not Toyota). It is a real consideration to buy BYD, value for money with all the performance and tech.
Al I can say is , "Wow!"
Accord and Camry as awesome as they were, are now DOA when measuring against this and more of these Chinese auto manufacturers.
Looks like a Jaguar-EV should look like. Good summary, well done, mate!
I appreciate your unbiased opinion of the car. I would like you to elaborate more on the battery types if you can. It looks as if they went from something else before the blade battery came in.
viking, add a comparison table of byd han ev versus tesla m3 or y, with pricing, battery, tech etc.. we like to see some bigger slide..
If they finally build a state version of this i will love to own one
Thanks for the highlights. As an investor I still feel investing in an ADR is too risky. Excited to see new entry's
Just had a look at the australian site and onky one i could see is the atto 3 looking for the han, do like the hatchback model you showed in ine of your vids. Thanks not sure where to look or order one
BYD Han and Tang are already available in Costa Rica. They are solid products with competitive pricing and are pretty much set to take over the EV market here. The only issue I have found with these models is the awful sound system. Truly disastrous. It is a shame really since this is one of those details that can change your mind about purchasing a car or not.
interesting and surprising mistake given the cost of these components in China..
BYD, given the low cost of components to you, I suggest u aim toward hi end for cabin noise suppression and audio quality - another way u can stand out from would be European competitors who source expensive Bose type systems
BYD has teamed up with Dynaudio. There is probably an upgrade option for the premium Dynaudio sound system.
@@BYD_LRT :)
the sound system, while not superb, is still better than my US made bmw x5. the new version with dynaudio should be a significant upgrade though.
I still really like the Red Burgundy color .. these cars are so cool .. wonder how they'll hold up
agree with all your observations on the v interesting Han - Love the tan leather interior -
Thailand RHD production is good news as is the pricing...If only we could have those prices in UK..$45k for 500bhp 4wd?!
Looking forward to real range tests and cabin comfort and sound levels :)
Bigger than I want / need though - hope they bring out a scaled down version the size of the 3
I love this and can't wait until it's available in Oz. Any idea of when and what price?
Hi Sam, maybe I missed a brand new press release? Best range for the HAN that I could find on the BYD website was 605km., NEDC.
That's the old version (1st gen) Han EV. This new 2022 Han EV is called "Han Genesis" and was released in 10.Apr.2022. With a FWD-715KM(CLTC) version and a 4WD-610KM(CLTC) version. FYI the CLTC standard is roughly 110% of NEDC.
@@solidball9314 Thanks!, BYD will eventually update their website.
If this was available in europe, I would be buying it. I have been waiting for an electric sedan for a while and won't be selling my current sedan until then (Kia Stinger). Pricing around 55K € would be right in the budget as well (I'm considering VAT and hoping that the tariff won't be an additional 20%). I wouldn't be surprised if it arrived with a 65K+ sticker :(
rip off UK.... 50k Euro UK retail would be interesting :)
Looks good. Bring it down to £20k I may get interested. Never paid more than £15 k for a new car.. Retired now. Half income , so restricted. Will watch this space. Private pension collapsed. Did not help. You invest all these years for a decent pension and the big boys messed it up. Looks like pensions will collapse again very soon. Won't help the EV industry..
The Han looks great, the specs are impressive. The question I have is what's the build quality like and the quality control on the cars like as well?
well we have an owner that just posted . raving of the car after 1.5 years .. so looks like its doing good
amazing, much more attractive than Tesla for me
Wow! I really like that like that Limited Green model. I hope they bring it to the US, though Tesla might be working on something better.
These things should be the go to Fleet Vechicals and E-Taxies
I'm here in the US and I can't figure out who leads the price movements and who follows with dual-listed Chinese EV stocks. Is it the Shanghai exchange or the US exchange? The US exchange closes out the week, but I don't know if that means anything.
How does BYD solve? the charging of their cars when they are on a trip? Will this experience affect the long term adoption? Please give your update on this limiting factor for most new EV Brands
Big fan of BYD however if i had to buy an EV sedan, I'd be going for the NIO ET7, it is gorgeous and with excellent power and range. Its a more direct rival to the Tesla Model S.
et7 cost about 70% more than the comparable han, trim by trim. it is not as a screaming value as han. that is why Han's sales volumn is more than 5x of that of et7. while we are at et7, why not consider IM L7. it is just as gorgeous and drives better than et7 and cost quite a bit less.
@@qilu2004 IM L7 is gorgeous, however I live in an area where battery swap stations are readily available and cheap. SO I'll still prefer the ET7.
The green is the colour of Jade... very important in Chinese culture 👌
Try it and l like it...by the way,the firm have a new manufacture in Tangier Morocco...
Hahn....Looking Sharp!!
Maybe the factory in Thailand will start producing LHD EVs for the U.S. market to avoid the 25% import tariffs for Chinese goods? Hope so.
A lot of the car manufacturers set up Thai plants for their RH drive supply, because Thailand is RH drive... seems unlikely. Not impossible, just unlikely fwiw
If you only buy one - is it then a Han Solo?
I heard on another channel 70k USD for the Han.
Hello, your video has many pertinent views, but are you serious about the description of BYD's plug-in hybrid model? As far as I know, BYD's DM-I technology is the world's top plug-in hybrid technology. Thanks to BYD's advanced technical reserves in motors and batteries, its DM-I model can achieve fuel consumption comparable to that of Toyota's model equipped with ths system. At the same time, its power is twice that of Toyota's model, and the 100km acceleration of dm-p model with the most powerful performance can reach 3.7 seconds (claimed). I suggest you have a good understanding of this revolutionary powertrain technology. When you thoroughly understand it, you will certainly change your view.
Beautiful
Hi Sam, Is there any plans to open dealers in Perth please ?
Or could one fly over to say SA and buy and drive back and
then have servicing carried out here in Perth. Thanks.
You can order it online when available which will be sometime in 2023 and pick it up in Perth. There will be dealership opening in Perth.
@@Peter-vn8ue how about test drives though?
I like the green one
I like it...I wish I could order one from here in the U.S....or at least have that option.
Do you think they will be available to people in the U.S. anytime soon?
the big oils will tell you "NO"
I am a letter carrier. It's very disappoint to know that only 10% or less of the USPS mail truck fleet will be EVs, the other 90% will be fuel powered.
At this rate, BYD will conquer the market.
Guessing you mean Yuan or RMB, not Yen?
When is this one coming to Australia?
A serious competitor to model 3 of tesla with longer range, quicker charge and much better interior. Almost have the same price range
Is there anywhere in Sydney you can go and look at any BYD?
50 Riley street, Darlinghurst. Has the Atto and Dolphin. Also their house batteries
@@ddhhh5487 thank you
What about windscreen wipers on, headlights and spotlights on, driving in bad traffic jams, radio, electric windows.
driving a tiny Zoe, I am amazed that all of this has little effect - wet roads and cold battery temps Do have a big effect however
Considering LED headlights etc., don't take much at all, especially compared to battery capacity measured in kilowatts, none of those things amount to much.
And an EV sitting in traffic, unlike ICE, is NOT idling an engine. So no energy used running the motor for nothing. Or creeping forward slowly for awhile - electric is fine with that. It just uses less energy than going faster.
It will burn more amps the faster you drive it. But ranges are figured using standard highway speeds.
Each type of vehicle has its strengths and weaknesses. But stop and go is actually one of the EV's strengths.
It looks fine.I would consider if it comes to the US.
I doubt it will otherwise we will be subsiding our enemy.
Be better if they built a factory in Australia as we have most of the minerals required in the ground for the batteries as well as the chassis :)
Yup
i hope this car comes to usa, but i doubt they ever will
i thought byd has a factory in the state?
@@timc513 Buses and trucks only~
Only if they come in to the US through Canada.
Yay I’m In South Africa and can’t to receive byd
They’ve already got 300,000 pre orders for the Seal
Looks like a couple of years before this car comes to Australia.
When you're listing statistics on the EVs can you please add charge times? For example, how long does it take to charge the long range BYD Han to 80%?
Yes but how long does it take please ?
I have been following your channel. How much is BYD Han? It compatible to Tesla Model S? Tesla Model S Plaid 2022 is US$130,000.
Can’t wait for Canadian market!
Do you think it looks like an Accord?
Do these meet US crash worthiness ratings? Can't assume, otherwise they are very attractive and worthy of my consideration along with Tesla.
We talk about batteries but we need to talk about the motors. what advancements does byd and another Chinese companies have in motor announcements?
Any plans by BYD to get into the US market? There would probably be push back by the US gov’t to keep that from happening as it would hasten legacy auto going belly up plus geopolitical issues. Would really give Tesla competition too.
The current political weather doesn't help either!
Really nice car. But, what about weight?
I'm waiting to see BYD EVs showing up in the U.S. I see Tesla EVs all the time now.
They looking bloody amazing does BYD also have them in petrol version
dmi and dmp version
"BYD" is getting out making #ICE
byd s petrol engine is nightmare,believe me🙃
Are those ranges WLTP? We need to compare apples with apples.
What about security?
Love it
The new civic/camry
Like it!
Looks like a Honda Clarity
history turned a page, legacy auto is in the past
For me it's 🐬
You announced you had six hundred online.so I've been watching some seven hundred.
Good news
I like it
Station wagon!
Genisish / Lexish
nice car
Why would they make the standard single motor drive train a front wheel drive? That is so stupid.
They just made public the price for Europe, 72000 euro for the Haan . They just blew it 😒 😑 72000 for the unknown brand is way too much.
I guess that settles it. LUCID will come too late for the party, and at the wrong price point.
So will Tesla.
Hope the compact SUV or the hatch back (atto 3 & dolphine) get update has as much km 700+km or real workd 600+km
Sedan isn't as practical as hatchback, has only the look for most people
As a daily commuter car, as long as you can install charging piles at home, I think 4-500 kilometers of battery life is completely enough. More battery life means more battery cost and more expensive price, which is very uneconomical.
@@dysonyamagata1133 It also means more battery weight which equates to lower efficiency.
The battery pack to give 600 to 700km will not fit the Dolphin skateboard.
@@Peter-vn8ue these are all the same 3.0 BYD e-plateform 1000km so they all should be able to take the same amount.
They don't come on different plateform because they are different in size. You should check it out.
As the LFP gets upgraded over time and also depends on how much blade battery is planned to be added on certain model, capabilities changes
The price of an EV is useless information if that car is not available in your market. I would assume that not too many residents of China watch the Electric Viking and even if they did, that information would not be news to them as they would be browsing all the Chinese EV websites.
lot better than nowt, cos u can compare Chinese EVs relative costs
@@davidstuart4915 Sure, but it's all academic if you can't actually buy one.
@@aftonline there are a lot of things u cannot buy, which are still worthy of comparison :)
@@davidstuart4915 Price comparisons are usually about buying. The only reason most people are watching the Chinese EV scene is because they are hoping eventually we will get those cheap EV's outside China. Yes that is starting to happen, but the process is extremely slow, the numbers are limited, and the cars are not as cheap as they are in China. It's hopium that drives Electric Viking's viewcount. I get it, I subscribed and I find it interesting, but I can also see through what is happening. The EV scene in general is interesting to me, but I can also see its limitations.
@@aftonline yep, I too am waiting for a better '3' for sub £20k :)
Wagon please!
I still feel it is not yet time to purchase an electric vehicle, especially if one has a very good quality ride already. The technology is advancing very quickly, so waiting means you will be buying a much better car in the future. Pricing is still too high due to market forces; There is not enough supply to meet demand, so prices are high, with large profits for Tesla and others. Choices are limited WRT styles, options etc. As the supply increases and the market becomes more balanced, choices will proliferate and prices will adjust to a lower point with less profit for the manufacturers. You should then be able to buy a much better vehicle, with much wider choice of builders, options and extras at a lower price, or at least a price which will not have kept up to inflation, and will represent excellent value.
kinda like Plasma TVs - First ones were around £12k...when £12k was Serious! - Now look at the evolved market..
BeautifuI car, wonder how close to meeting US auto safety standards are the BYD models. Looks to me BYD and other major Chinese EV makers lack the sales and service infrastructure besides having to meet the safety standards. Also do the BYD models have periodic OTA updates?
My parents bought one in China. Hit sideways by an X5 on the 3rd day. They barely felt the crash but that X5 was totaled. It was probably due to the sheer weight of this car.
Is the station wagon actually happening?
The hunting version and the convertible version have been road tested in China, and it is estimated that the release is not far away.
dude wanna buy every electric car in the market kkkkk
🤣🤣🤣
Who is "Bella May" ❔️😳❔️
Hp?
Love evs
Why won’t BYD be sold in the US?
Because BYD is a Chinese company, so it must be a security concern.
Toyota is actually increasing share in China. This march Chinese market fell 11.9 percent and Toyota sold 10% more.
Meanwhile VW fell -24% Audi -49%. VW is falling in most major markets including Europe whereas Toyota seems stable.
Beautiful car Sam, but just too big for my needs..! What I, and I’m absolutely sure, many, MANY, MANY, others are desperately waiting for is for BYD to bring out a less expensive and smaller, EV ‘City-Car’. Something about the size, and shape, of a Suzuki IGNIS, and it wouldn’t even need to have any sort of extreme battery range, either, at least in the basic version. I know that they already have the small Dolphin model, but, the ‘funky’ interior design of that one, is definitely, ..’an acquired taste’ which seems a lot more suited to the ‘younger’ buyers tastes, yes, you know, the younger buyers, those ones who, largely speaking, ..cannot ..afford, to buy a new car..! 🙄. Honestly, Sam, if BYD would manufacture a small EV, styled like the Suzuki IGNIS, with a more Western oriented interior design, I’m absolutely certain, that they literally, would not, be able to keep up with new customer orders for them…! 😉👏👏👏
The BYD Seagull will be announced in June/July and it'll be cheaper than the Dolphin.
I heartely agree!
It's not rocket science - I reckon a small, affordable EV would sell like hot cakes!
Amen.
BYD D1 would be my favourite. with the sliding Doors.
Well said and BYD can make up with higher sale volume. Lower the price and use it as an advertisement for the brand BYD.
Plug in hybrids don’t make sense. Half the time you are lugging around a massively heavy battery and the rest of the time a lump of cast iron engine and drive chain.
Confusing terminology used here : having 2 motors does not reduce the life of the battery like you said.
I suspect what you meant was that it reduces the efficiency so affecting the maximum range.
