    I'm the happy owner of a BYD Yuan-300. A great, well-built car. I bought it in 2021 for the equivalent of US$30,000. Unfortunately, the country in which I live (Colombia) does not yet have the required charging infrastructure, so I have to rely on my home charger. A full charge of just 300 kilometers takes 8 hours.

    I still remember when BYD first venture into automotive business. At that time, BYD is famous as battery maker, and EV is still just a tricycle run on battery. I was like "why on earth did BYD expand into car business? seems like another conglomerate who have too much money to waste". BYD also didn't jump straight into EV, but start with selling the good old ICE cars. So I really couldn't find the connection with BYD core business which is battery. Who knows, dozen of years later, those two seemingly disconnected businesses, became connected, and we have a giant EV maker today who seemed going to be the future leader of EV industry. I have to say, BYD bosses are really visionary.

    the plug in hybrid e6 was first built in 2008-9 months ahead of Chevy volt.
    BYD was the largest EV marker from 2015 to 2018 globally before mass production of model 3.
    BYD has been the second largest electric bus maker for years.

    The speed that China built and ramped the first Tesla factory is very impressive. A peaceful and productive China is an outstanding partner.

    Would love a video about tariff rates around the world to help see where companies can expand and where they will be stymied due to huge regulatory burdens/tariffs.

    BYD is a legit challenger to Tesla. only chinese ev makers are challengers to Tesla not the legacy auto makers.

    byd sold 88283 ev and hybrid in feb, compared to 10355 same month last year. production number was 89136. this is with 7 days off for the chinese new year in Feb. there is NO ev maker that grows faster than byd.

      BYD is trying hard to meet demand in China now. I waited for two months to get a Qin plugged-in hybrid EV this year.

    BYD's red ellipse logo is changed again recently, the ellipse is kept but slimmer line, and the font is more curvy.

    Sam, given your enthusiasm about BYD, I think they ought to facilitate a speacial sale of one of their premium ev's to you. Or, just move to china, shanghai or shenzhen. you are not gonna cover the real ev revolution from australia, so far away from the action.

    I can’t seem to find financial statements of their company, where do people get their financial data for this company. I see some data on yahoo finance but a ton of information missing.

    I agree with the end of video. If this company is not Chinese but a western, some famous driving games may have that cars too.
    I see the Gran Turismo Sport and Gran Turismo 7 have some western EVs. The Gran Turismo series is Japanese games, so they have no space for Chineses.
    In Feb 2022 (Chinese New Year), Forza Horizon 5 added Nio EP9 (Chinese EV supercar), MG 3 and Wuling Hongguang S (not Mini EV) Chinese city cars. I don't know why the game company don't care that many players are don't want them, some players are also Chinese car haters. I think this is a very good signal for Chinese automakers, that they can have appearances in a famous driving game.

    My Prediction is .... BYD the largest EV maker in the World. By ..... 2027 ??? They current manufacturing RAMP up is just Remarkable. Plus with the Chinese Market pushing for Green Tech, High Oil prices , Govn limiting production of ICE , Younger Population for Trendy Tech EV , etc ...... The Chinese Market itself would EAT UP what BYD can produce.

    Lfp batteries still have a recycling problem. Not yet economic to recycle them due to the low value of the raw materials content.
    Do you have any update on this?

      well lithium prices are through the roof ( 600% up for the year). so they should be economical soon. LFP last two to three times longer than NCA or NCM . so won't be a big issue for a while .

      Would recommend looking at BYDDY if in the US. BYD is on the OTC sheets. This is why it is never mentioned on CNBC etc. BYD makes so many more cars than NIO, XPEV, and Li auto combined. Certain areas/countries have BYDDF which is just about exactly half the value of BYDDY. I use E-Trade for my BYDDY. It is also available on Ameritrade. Good luck.

      not as good as Tesla. If FSD is important for you then go for Nio it's better than Tesla

    I'm just so grateful for the Congolese Miners and their families that deal with heavy metal poisoning and blood-level saturation rates that are 10 times the average so that we can have our nice clean consciences about electric vehicles, thank you so much!

      Cobalt is also consumed in fossil fuel refining and metallurgy. In fact those are the #2&3 consumers of it worldwide.
      Anything with a battery also likely has cobalt&lithium in it. Every cell phone, every tablet, every laptop, every electric shaver, every laptop, every trimmer, every toothbrush etc. Got anything to say on that by chance?
      How about the fact in just one year Apple on average consumes more cobalt to make I phone batteries as tesla has used in their entire existence of producing electric vehicle's. 🤔

      @@4literv6 I got a whole lot to say on that. Producers of these consumer goods SHOULD ONLY BE USING ethically sourced cobalt and lithium. What a novel concept! Apple reinvests in advertising, rather than pay more for the minerals. Because advertising is tax deductible. The laws need to change and consumers need to be educated about the impact of their lifestyle.

    I know this isn't going to sit well with anyone on this channel, but am I the only o ne that thinks all of BYD cars are ugly. Interior is amazing but exterior is just "meh". design language has changed so much over the years. Hyundai/kia who used to make some ugly cars even now makes pretty cars. I don't know maybe it's just me but these cars are so generic without any brand identity.
    It's like HTC phones, where every few months they would just try new random design with no real plan or identity.

    Well, having bought other cheap products from china, quality scrutiny has always been on my mind. With high production (=making cars fast) inevitably comes compromises and shortcuts. They can increase, bit also decrease quality over time. For many componets materials meed a certain "curing" time. If those fundamentals arenot adhered too and shortcuts take to mitigate the hype of production rate, we might feel the burden later rather than sooner. I know thta current 18650 and 21700 battery quality and capacity can range wilddly with cheap chinese products. The question we have to answer ourselves is who is managing quality assurance and checking the quality assurance guud2lines are met. If it is already a challenge with cheao chinese ellectronics then what assurancea do we have it is no different with chinese ev's. I applaud the ev revolution China is taking right now. But is faster everything always good?
