The crazy part about all this is that, mostly all the 90's shows they have cancelled, it's much better than the shows they play on tv today.

Not just her, during Covid I randomly went down a RUclips rabbit hole of cancelled tv show intros. Jon cryer, Miguel Nunez, tk Carter, and holland Taylor seemed to be in every other one.

It's kinda sad seeing so many of the same Black actors (Vivica, Vanessa B Calloway, Damon Wayans, etc.) having to hop around from project to project, hoping to strike gold. Luckily for them, it eventually happened, but i know it had to be discouraging. I can only imagine how many unknown Black actors gave up over time..😞
Literally, in Hollywood, they have “pilot season”-actors audition & film tv shows and hope the shows get picked up or they try again the following season. If the show does get picked up, but gets canned, there's room to audition for other shows-depending on when the cancellation occurs. There have been some actors who also auditioned for other shows while being linked to a currently airing one-and having to leave when the show gets picked up. That happened with “Mixed -ish” with Mark-Paul Gosselaar replacing Anders Holm as Bow's dad. Anders left to do “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”.
It’s wild how they canceled Tall Hopes but used it to be the outline for Boy Meets World
Unfortunately Tall Hopes aired on CBS. Back then CBS didn't have as good of a lineup of shows as ABC or NBC. Boy Meets World aired on ABC during T.G.I.F. I think this helped it out alot. The cast from BMW talked about how the show was moved to a later time slot on T.G.I.F. and since they thought no one was watching they just kind let loose and had fun and before they realized it they had an audience of viewers. Then they were moved to an earlier time slot on the T.G.I.F lineup.

Nah! Tall Hopes looked like a Wannabe Combo of The Cosby Show, Family Matters & Good Times as it wasn't no outline for Boy Meets World. As it looked Hokey from the clips as them Shows I listed or any other if you go back and look at "Copy & Paste" Afro-Centric Shows as they always have to have 1 Kid a some kinda Basketball or Football Star Athlete as heck you could even say it was a Hokey version of The Hogan's Family as well if you wanna go the race card crap route!

I remember on “Good News” that there was an ongoing joke about Roz Ryan’s character being named “Hattie Mason-Dixon”, after the Mason-Dixon Line.
I hate to back date myself, but I recognize A LOT of the shows in this series of videos.

That kind of fits Dorian Wilson, though-either a college professor, a minister, or a cop.
Under One Roof was so underrated it also premiered on the same day 2Pac's 3rd album Me Against the World, E-40's sophomore album In a Major Way and Kut Klose's first and only album Surrender were released on March 14th 1995
That show had the most potential

I wasn't in college and I don't remember none of these shows.
Some of these I remember. Some I don’t. One thing is clear that a lot of our black actors/actresses has rotated these shows heavy!
Definitely enjoying this series. It shows how many times we’ve tried to get shows off the ground and sadly failed.

I hope there's a part 4 on the way, I really like watching these episodes. There's so many shows and cartoons out there that just couldn't cut the mustard and got cancelled 🤷🏾♂️
This series is one of my favorites
I remember Rhythm & Blues. I also remember the critics comparing it to WKRP In Cincinnati. To me it reminded me of WKRP. It had potential but just needed some slight tweaks.
Facts. It's funny how the critics were a bunch of haters just because they had a white dj working at a black radio station. It did have a WKRP vibe but unfortunately flopped because the critics & the ratings
I liked Rhythm & Blues and at the time I didn't know why the show was canceled. It is sad how the critics viewed that show.
I use to watch Lincs lol I was 12/13 yrs old not knowing wtf was going on 😅 but I was tuning in 😂
I loved good news... I wasn't surprised it didn't make it... goode behavior informed me that the short lived girl band wild orchid was white 😅
Rhythm and Blues sounded like a good show idea. Too bad the critcs were too hard on the show.

The thing about rhythm & blues, it is a short sighted premise. It might have worked for an 80s comedy movie or the plot for a few episodes. How were they going to drag that out for several seasons let alone one?
Under One Roof was an amazing TV show... with a very talented cast and good storylines. IDK what the people who cancelled it after only 6 episodes were thinking 🤦🏾♂🤦🏾♂🤦🏾♂

Let me tell you…
Under One Roof, Goode Behavior, Linc's, 413 Hope Street, and Getting Personal all deserved way more than they got. At the same time, most of the actors on those shows would not have had the careers they've had if not for the cancellations. Would we have gotten Ida Mae's bestie & Olivia Pope's dad if “Under One Roof” had lasted longer?
“Tall Hopes” is the one that gets me because it's so obvious that Terrence Howard is an adult on the show while playing a teenager…which is in direct contrast to him playing a college student who dated an older Maxine Shaw on “Living Single” (even though Terrence & Erika Alexander are around the same age). I give it up to Kenny Blank, though. He, Merlin Santana, and Bianca Lawson were in just about every Black show in the 90s.
Goode Behavior premiered on the same day as Malcolm & Eddie premiered
I wanna say UPN premiered four shows that same night. Malcolm & Eddie, Sparks, Good News and Goode Behavior.

I only remember Good News & Damon, but Goode Behavior & Linc's both sound very familiar. Maybe i did see them too, & just forgot about them? I had no idea that Nell Carter had been given another series, after Gimme a Break! Sad that it didn't last. Also incredibly sad, that after Amen, Sherman Hemsley couldn't seem to find another hit series!!
Good news was a great show. I remember my mom recorded quite a few episodes on VHS 😁

I love seeing actors that got their start on these lesser known shows and went on to do big things.
As being born in 2000’s I wish I was able to even see some if these 😞😭so I appreciate these little glimpse into the past
The second one about a radio station. This has happened for years. In Chicago there was a jazz station and this name Ron ( forgot the last name) he was mid day sound real good but he was Asian I miss him he did his thing. U only knew unless u went to station's website and there was a DJ in California sound like Barry white ppl loved him. Station try to hold back but the love was so good. Saw him. Funny enough. A Asian kid lol I am not making this up. So this idea came from somewhere

The fact so many of these series never got the chance they deserved is sad. Now these wholesome shows are replaced with reality bs like love and hip hop smh. Love these videos. It helps connect the dots about the bigger agenda. At the start of the 90s , the black community were still standing on business especially after Rodney King and OJ. Picking up the pieces from the 80s crack era. Slowly but surely they removed representation of US doing well for ourselves by the mid 2000s it was far and few in-between.

Some of these shows were really good, like "413 Hope Street". My family was hurt when it got canceled.
Good News also premiered on the same day Goldeneye 007 was released for the Nintendo 64 on August 25th 1997

I recently went through a 90s sitcom rabbit hole & I watched a few of these shows.
Tall Hopes was definitely slept on and it had an amazing cast
I remember a few of these shows. Don't recall the one with a young Terrance Howard as a baller.
There's one other show from the 90's called "Claude's Crib" that aired on USA Network that starred Claude Brooks. I still wonder what happened to him?

Good News was ACTUALLY good. I liked David Ramsey. Rosemarie Jackson-Moye could act. She was COMPELLING in Dead Presidents. ❤

Tall Hopes had potential in my opinion, I watched the pilot episode on YT a few days ago. I liked Under One Roof is a good show as well, a shame the show didn't stay on the air during that time.

I found a few of these months ago on RUclips. The one with Terrance Howard was good, but I agree. Them chemistry was all over the place.
Under One Roof was a good show. Very tasteful. Another suggestion is Laurel Avenue although it was a cable series on HBO. It featured the late great Mary Alice and Malinda Williams. Great video! This DEFINITELY refreshed my memory of failed shows. I thought Good News had potential. Rose Jackson was also memorable in the CLASSIC Dead Presidents. ❤

Bianca Lawson's first tv role was on the show Saved by the Bell the new class. She played Megan in the first two seasons. Anna Maria Horsford played Vivienne Avant on the Bold and the Beautiful. She was the mother of a transgender character. Thanks for sharing.

I really liked Getting Personal. Like, I knew it wasn’t a great show but the cast was pretty appealing. I was really disappointed when it was cancelled… I think I still have the Jet magazine with Vivica, Duane and Jon Cryer on the cover! Linc’s was a pretty solid show too.
Anna Maria Horsford, Essence Atkins, Vanessa Bell Calloway, Kelly Perrine, Flex Alexander, and Merlin Santana have so many cancelled shows under their belt.
Man these were some good shows, too bad they weren’t given a chance.
