- American television sitcom Sanford and Son aired on NBC from January 14, 1972, to March 25, 1977. While it was produced by Norman Lear and Bud Yorkin's film and television production company, Tandem Productions, because of Norman’s commitments to his other concurrent series, he was not hands on at all with Sanford and Son as many reports over time have claimed him to be. The show-running was always left to Bud. The series follows Fred Sanford, a widower and junk dealer played by John Elroy Sanford, better know by his stage name Redd Foxx, and his son Lamont Sanford, played by Demond Wilson. They share a home and business on South Central Avenue in the L.A. neighborhood of Watts.

Even watching reruns of Sanford and Son never gets old. Definitely one of those old school sitcoms that wasnt afraid to push boundaries with its comedy.
It's not corny it it's really hilarious I'm 22 btw so this isn't nostalgia speaking
Such a CLASSIC show! One of my favorites to watch in syndication as a child! So glad to hear a wise man such as Demond Wilson speak his mind in a recent interview. Very healthy and inspiring! ❤
I saw it. But I don't get it. Something about not ' giving in.
The Sanford & Son theme song never gets old
Nope not at all. I even downloaded it on my phone

Glad Demond Wilson is doing well.
He recently spoke his mind about
the show and Norman Lear.🤣
I wasn't born when Sanford & son was born but growing up I've watched it on syndication. I loved it. Makes me laugh
Sanford and Son is one of those sitcoms that feels real. It feels like Fred Sanford was a real person and that junkyard was real 😄.
@tropicallymixed, well, he was named after a real person.
Sanford and Son The Greatest Television 📺 Show of TV’s Golden Years. When Aunt Ester Dropped The N-Bomb on One ☝🏿 Episode I Was Dead 💀 On Arrival 😂 Good Video.

Can we can we on the Wayans Bros. Tv show
Man,very GOOD video, learned a lot. Aunt Esther was dealing free drugs ??? Some of the cast were-HIGH-while working, wish I could work at my job HIGH as a kite. LOL.
I'm Redd Foxx's age when he canceled the show. 😮 55
He called him “you big dummy.” Demond Wilson is the only surviving cast member.
I grew up with Sanford & Son, thanks to my dad, & i do thank him for introducing me to it! I will always love this show, & will never tire of watching the episodes, though i've seen them hundreds of times, lol. Wow, it is shocking to find out that all the cast would be high as a kite, during filming!! Particularly Rollo, as Nathaniel, in real life, was the complete antithesis of Rollo, & from what i've read, certainly didn't sound like someone who liked to get high. Another fun fact, not mentioned in the video, is that most of the actors who played Fred's friends, sans Whitman Mayo, were all real life friends of his, from his days on the chitlin' circuit. Also, whenever they'd break out into song, on the show, those bits were based off real life acts they would perform in the streets, before becoming famous. You also forgot to mention Slappy White, who played recurring character Melvin. He & Redd were inseparable, during their days on the circuit. Slappy was his comedy partner. Also, my dad introduced me to Sanford, as well, & i became a fan. Idk if it's streaming anywhere, but Sanford is available on dvd, for anyone interested in watching it.
Great story on Sanford & Son
Sanford And Son:This was the go to show whenever I’d visit my relatives on weekends…..Redd Foxx stole the show with classic scenes and also gotta get some Redd Foxx shirts soon…..RIP Redd Foxx…..
Love the channel.
I never watched the show
My grandfather resembled to Red Foxx
My Grandparents used to watch Sanford and Son faithfully. My man Redd Foxx always kept us laughing and he could roast you in a comedy battle. Another fun fact in 2004 Wu-Tang Clan member Masta Killa sampled the theme song from Sanford and Son. The song and video is called "Old Man" with The RZA and Ol Dirty Bastard. 👐👐👐
Sanford and Son is the G.O.A.T
I want my daddy's records😂
How terrifying five of them died of a heart attack. Demond Wilson is here with us thankfully.
This was a family favorite when I was a kid.
That
"Nope"
Was everything!
Well done fellas!
This is the video that i’ve been waiting for.
I’m just finding out that Demond’s
real name is Grady Wilson.🤦🏾♂️
Although i watched this show from time to time,my partner said he just doesnt like it...i really didnt hear much about people raving about this show😢
Yo the fact that all of them passed from a heart attack is scary😮 and he faked them all the time on the show
Thanks 👍🏾❤
Classic show
It was either Redd Fox or Malcolm X bio that said they knew each other during the young hustler days.
Happy International Women's Month Juicy Pop 😊
1:25 I miss this another show.
2:12 Sanford & Son, and R.I.P. Fred Foxx.
So Grady died at Grady memorial hospital?
❤️
This was well put together but, it's a bit inaccurate. Eric Monte the creator of Good Times, The Jeffersons and what's happening to name a few, that suggested to Norman Lear use a Black cast for the steptone and son remake. And, it was also Eric Monte not Cleavon Little who suggested that Redd Foxx play the part of the father in the American version. Now, I don't fault the authors of this video for the misinformation in lieu of the not mentioning Eric Monte's contribution. Mr.Monte has purposely been written out of television history because, of racist politics. I suggest that anyone reading my comment simply type Eric Monte's name in any search engine and, you will discover his many contributions to television and film to which he ultimately didn't get the credit he deserved.
Early 💕
GOODNESS WHO DIDNT DIE OF A HEART ATTACK?!
Show time 😂🎉
Should've been canceled sooner just wasn't as funny after the third season
