- Rapper Inga Marchand, better known by her stage name Foxy Brown, was born on September 6, 1978 in Brooklyn, New York. While her mother raised her, and her two older brothers in a very nice neighbourhood, Foxy gravitated to life in the concrete jungle as a teen. Although she would be drawn by the allure of the criminal element and illegal lifestyle, Foxy quickly realized that her goals and ambitions stretched further than the dope infested corners, avenues, and boulevards surrounding her. Her story would be centred around music. At just 14, Foxy displayed an innate talent for putting together raps, capturing the attention of her family and friends.

Foxy can rap her ass off and is so charismatic on the mic, but IMO her beat choices always held her albums back from being great. I only fw two or three of her songs personally, which is too bad because she's crazy talented.
I had her first 3 cds. Liked most of her songs. My favorite one she never released was the one with Havoc from Mobb Deep, The Promise.
I’ve always felt like Foxy never got the flowers she deserved aside from Nicki always shouting her out. She should’ve been on the hip hop honors.

That’s incorrect. Foxy had her beef but she wasn’t the most hated and controversial during her era. Nicki gets way more hate (and I’m not a Nicki fan in no way). The fans back then was no where near invested in celebrities as Stans are today.

Foxy’s pen was unmatched, and her elevated fashion look was setting trends, everyone was wearing her floppy hat and shades. Foxy inspired a lot of female rappers, who continue to diminish their own contributions to rap by pretending she didn't exist. The industry loves to try and erase the accomplishments of black artists they cannot control. The other women look dumb participating in tributes and never mentioning her. The fans won't allow their revisionist history to be the last word.

I love Foxy Boogie Brown and I don't care what people say about her. She is a staple of female empowerment in my teen years. She never let colorism or anything else stop her. On top of that she was a teen herself with a crazy flow like that. Everybody had her albums. Give Foxy her props.

Imagine if Foxy and Kim were the hip hop Thelma and Louise. Not a group, but on a divide and conquer type of vibe. Their objective? Forcing the masses to give female hip hop artists the respect that they deserve. They each would have their own fan base but would collab often enough. Never dissed each other and would make it clear that if anyone had a problem with one, they had a problem with both. Kim being Biggie's Bonnie and Foxy being Jay-Z's ...each holding their own while still looking out for each other.... Imagine... When will we learn that we're stronger together than apart smh 😔

Hope she does an interview or documentary one day......there have been so many underage claims with grown men we all have heard of over the years. Years ago it was said she was also at parties with Other grown rapper's and R&B singers as well......smh. They preyed on her and used her up smh. I remember hearing about her being on drugs and at a time people stated she was talking to her self. I really wanna know what did they do to this queen. She deserved so much more. Nicki got her whole sound from her.....foxy use to always say "She was the bad guy" and she was considered Raps bad girl years ago.
