Do you remember watching any of these?
Man and Machine was one of my favorites, but still, a hard watch, even back then.
Never heard of any of them haha
Where do you watch these shows?
They are pretty obscure, you can watch some low quality episodes right here on RUclips
I stopped watching TV shows in '91 because there was NUTHIN' worth my time....as a matter o' fact, I don't remember much 'bout the '90s anyway.🤙😎🥃🥃🥃🥃
@@user-zi8ux6fy2nyeah cool kids didn't watch TV like this.
As someone who was born in 81' and watched a ton of sitcom television at the time, I recall absolutely none of these shows lol
A few years earlier and same. Not a one.
As a lady born in '82, and with a TV babysitter, I couldn't agree more!
In fairness, that's because we watched WUHF (now a Fox affiliate, but not in 91) mostly.
Same. I was born in 1982. I knew almost all the shows from his 1991 video, but none of these.
Same here 81 ' baby never seen any of these shows
Me too. But I do remember 1 tv show Joe’s Life.
Anyone remember “Herman’s Head”? It played on Fox during the time of the Tracey Ullman show. Thought it was a cute premise
I actually liked Herman's Head, and would watch it faithfully along with the Tracy Ullman show, (another favorite).
@pumpkinspice8184 Thank you. I had forgotten the Tracy Ullman Show had ended before Herman's Head.
I do
Watched that, Simpsons, In Living Color, Martin, Married with Children, and Get a Life. Fox had a 🔥 line-up at that time
That actually ran for 3 seasons.
16:50 😳Dan Schinider jump scare
11:54 Danny Masterson jump scare lol
@@etownshawnI like Masterson and doubt he actually did anything wrong
You mean Dan "get in the van" Schneider?
Danny & Dan. Damn! 😮😂
One actor is in jail one went on to become a notorious sex predator and one is now dead. If a show was ever cursed it was this one.
Poor Mary Page Keller. She was too talented and charming to be the queen of 90s cancelled sitcoms
@@markelijio6012 Those were guest appearances of one for two episodes. She never starred in a hit a show.
I tried to watch The Trouble With Larry when it premiered, but only about six minutes in the first episode was interrupted by the local news covering the arrest of a wanted criminal in the area. The breaking news coverage, which would have taken a few minutes to cover, at most, went on for more than two hours. No further episodes aired on the local network affiliate, as far as I know.
Wow
It was cancelled before the fall season officially started.
Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matthew Perry, and Matt LeBlanc were all available for friends only because their prior sitcom failed. How different that show might’ve looked.
And I just remembered that Lisa Kudrow played Phoebe’s twin Ursula in Mad About You.
It could have been watchable with other actors.
@@stevenhochlander1630 It would be more watchable with out some characters like Phoebe.
@@stevenhochlander1630Never liked that show
Lisa Kudrow had also been cast as Roz on "Fraiser" but was replaced last minute.
I remember all these shows not because I watched them but mostly because I was an avid TV Guide collector.
If you have TV Guide you don't need TV.
Is this Frank Costanza talking?
so you're saying you're a hoarder
I remember South Of Sunset. I think the reason why the show was doomed to fail it’s because by 1993, CBS was airing news coverage of the Malibu Wildfires and those living in the East Coast were watching the World Series. I think it was an odd idea to release a show during a baseball coverage. FOX always does it all the time whenever they release a new show and move it to another night due to Baseball.
Great point thanks for sharing.
Was this on CBS or Fox? I thought CBS.
@@W81Researcher It was on CBS. FOX didn’t start their sports programming until 1994.
It also aired up against Home Improvement and Melrose Place which were the two of the biggest shows at that time
I've been loving these videos!
I'm so glad! Thank you
I love watching these just to see familiar actors before they got famous. Like I had no idea Aries Spears acted before Mad TV or Danny Masterson was on a show before that 70's. Great vid keep it up.
Thanks for watching more to come
Surprised Briscoe County Jr didn’t make this list as Fox had thought of was going to be huge but last only one season. The X-Files then turned out to be the real breakout hit.
Fortunately for Bruce Campbell, he was able to star in the massive popular Xena, Warrior Princess and Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, not long after that.
Briscoe County Jr was awesome!!
My mom loved that show, and I can't say I blame her, because Bruce Campbell is awesome 😀
I remember another series they hyped up on Fox around the same time, called "Mantis." They thought that would be a big hit, but it didn't pan out either.
@@WinterSteele I remember Mantis! And the lovely Jessica Alba featuring in the equally short lived Dark Angel. Fortunately for her and Michael Weatherly it did not really damage their careers.
@@WinterSteele Bruce Campbell was the only reason I even tried Burn Notice
A cop show starring Glenn Frey and Aries Spears... what universe is this?
I know, it feels like a fever dream, lol.
I was a HUGE Perfect Strangers fan at the time and was also a HUGE fan of Bronson Pinchot. On top of that, I was a HUGE TV watcher during 1993 (I would write up my TV schedule of each week and use crayons to make it look fancy, that's how dedicated I was. Granted, I was only 9 at the time. LOL). With that said.... I had NO clue that Larry show even existed till now. To say they failed to properly advertise that show is an understatement. I would have watched it if I knew it existed.
Well, I'm just glad back then when something sucked they just quietly took it off the air. Now if a show sucks you have to deal with the cast and crew on multiple screens calling you names and blaming you for their failures!
The only show I remember watching in 1993 was Running the Halls.
Matthew Perry would go on 1 year later 2 star in the successful FRIENDS. Still can't believe he is no longer with us. R.I.P Matthew
Imagine. If "Home Free" had been a success and had multiple seasons, Matthew Perry wouldn't have been available to be in "Friends".
Maybe he would be alive today 🤨
It’s probably best everyone got away from Dan Schneider as quickly as possible.
@@IHateNicolasCage Idk, if it was a hit maybe he wouldn't have gotten a job with Nickelodeon
He would still be alive since it was Ross that pulled him underwater.
Imagine if “The Trouble with Larry” had been a success and had multiple seasons, Courtney Cox wouldn’t have been available for “Friends”.
Man, Florida got hit hard with cancelation in 93
The Trouble with Larry was too silly. It felt as if the producers thought calling him Larry was a witty spin on Perfect Strangers.
Bronson Pinchot is still an amazing comedic actor, but nobody can pull off a show that was that overly silly.
Absolutely, Thanks for watching
I disagree. You guys just don't get it.
@@russell2910 Neither did anyone else, apparently.
@@IHateNicolasCage wrong again. Everybody I knew was smart and cool and well dressed. But most of all, they all would go crusader when fools talked ish about balki's new show.
Fun fact. Pierce brosdon and Bronson pinch off are brothers.
R.I.P. Matthew Perry
Looking forward to 94! I know Battletech: The Animated Series was a series that only lasted for 1 season that comes to mind. Information is Ammunition. No Guts, No Galaxy!
Don't remember any of these, but when you get to 94's failed shows I'll remember Thunder in paradise
Eagle Eye Cherry had a TV show?!
Crazy
Save tonight and watch my show.- Eagle Eye Cherry.
Thanks for the video and Merry Christmas everyone!🎄
You're welcome. Merry Christmas
How in the hell "Home Free" didn't land with having Skeletor in the cast is beyond me. It may have something to do with the creepy foot fetishist, Dan Schneider, also being in there.
Chandler Bing and Skeletor is a combo I never expected. :O
but yeah, creepy Dan taints it.
I remember Johnny Bago. Hilarious. Anyone else remember that one? Needs to be here.
Ironic seeing Danny Masterson displayed here knowing his current fate.
Being forced to marry Bijou Philips was indeed a tragedy. Especially after what Ari Shafir did to her.
@@joeriveracomedy I haven't been able to find anything about a forced marriage but I am reading about Bijou Phillips and her whole family is seriously messed up.
Horrible misuse of "ironic"
Prison might be preferable to being on a sitcom.
@3:24 a long line of original Saved By The Bell wannabes. California Dreams and Hang Time (which signaled the arrival of Anthony Anderson) were my favorites because they were both very good.
Yes
I would love to see a deeper dive into the Trouble With Larry. That sounds like SUCH a dumpster fire that would yield significantly more entertainment knowing behind the scenes stuff.
Ugh, this is driving me insane. There was a police show that was filmed in my old neighborhood (Weston ON Canada) in the 90's that I believe aired once on Fox before it was abruptly cancelled. I used to know it but I've since forgot.
Hmm, do you remember anything else about it ?
Backstrom?
Maybe it was Lawless with Brian Bosworth
Cop Rock?
Can you speak on shows that were on the tv segment TGIF such as Family Matters, Steps by Steps, and etc.
Fond Memories of "Key West" I had almost forgotten it...thanks for the reminder!
You're welcome. It's fun to rediscover these shows and the memories they bring.
I remember Space Rangers and Key West. I actually really liked Key West and wish it would have gotten more seasons. Space Rangers was okay, a little cheesy - also I thought that laying down on your belly to navigate a space ship was a very poor design! That must have gotten really uncomfortable after a while!
Key West was a good show. Can't believe he talked about the show and didn't mention the crazy finale alien abduction lol.
I liked Space Rangers, they saved some $ on VFX by having "old fashioned" lead slinging guns rather than laser analogs. I'd recorded it, then bought the DVD with the unaired episodes. Of course, I also liked Misfits of Science and several other "weird" Sci Fi series around the same years.
@@johnparadox9429 I did like it, just thought it was a little cheesy. Still, Number One from Babylon 5 was their pilot, and the lady from NCIS was their boss! My brother bought the DVD set and I watched them again after many years. I also liked Misfits of Science - that one I do have on DVD.
@@mysticwolf75 Misfits was what introduced me to Courtney Cox. I remember after it was cancelled, Dean Paul Martin died doing his National Guard duty. 😪
@@johnparadox9429 Same here! I believe it was her first TV series. I was also saddened by the death of Dean Paul Martin shortly after the series ended - he died way too young.
I don't remember any of these shows! I have recently found out about space rangers though.
Never heard of any of these shows.
I really like your new content. It's enjoyable and I wish you a lot of luck.
Thank you very much! It took a little while to find what people want.
@@TheReviewStudios you figured it out. To answer your question, I don't remember any of those shows.
Very interesting.
Very glad Monica and Chandler found their way home to Friends after these failed TV shows. ❤
Yes!
aw.
Unfortunatelly now, Chandler is dead.
@@joaopedrobaggio4475 I have a cat named Chandler, I am very aware and saddened by Matthew Perry’s passing. I don’t think it’s necessary to be a downer on a comment that was intended to be positive. We can remember characters as they lived on our screens and those two brought so much laughter and joy to so many people.
@@joaopedrobaggio4475 Actually Matthew Perry is as we don't know if the FRIENDS writers have killed him off yet! So Currently in the FRIENDSVERSE Chandler Bing is still alive and married to Monica and w/ their Twins! As they haven't did a Revival yet!
I only remembered 3 of them. "The Trouble with Larry", "Space Rangers" and "Key West". Only knew the first one from the ads, and thought it was a gimmick to keep Bronson Pinchot working. Space Rangers just happened to be on one night, but it didn't impress me. Caught an episode of Key West, but again didn't impress me.
16:46 Dan 'im on this show, hope to see some toes' Schneider
Space Rangers having that cgi in '93 and being on tv is actually quite impressive
Being on CBS it had the bar set too high. It probably would have worked in syndication. Too bad the Sci Fi channel wasn't into original shows in 93.
I really enjoyed Key West, and was very disappointed when it was cancelled. Great ensemble cast of eccentric characters.
Hmmm Sci Fi space show cancelled after one season while their episodes aired out of order……. Where have I heard that one before?
not sure, but I'm off out to the stores for some last min christmas shopping. So I've put on my brown coat and probably end up buying something shiny...damn this hectic season, I almost can't wait for it to be over and try have me some serenity again.
@@carn9507 Y’aint being sly, are ya?
@@IHateNicolasCageProlly full of Go Shi.
Never knew Dan Schneider starred in a sitcom before his days at Nickelodeon. Makes me wonder what things would have been like for him sticking to acting and not stirring up so much controversy on the production side during his time at Nick.
Abuse of children isn’t “controversy”
He was in Head Of The Class during the 1980s.
Freezing cold take.
@@IHateNicolasCageThe guy is a freak and was a complete douchebag but so far unlike Brian Peck and Jason Handy there's no proof of sexual abuse towards any of the kids...He made a lot of inappropriate content for Nickelodeon but once again...he was rewarded by the audience for it...The elephant in the room is how sexualizing young stars became a big business in Hollywood...both male and female. I remember all the magazines showing young actors...my sister and cousins had their room covered in posters and it was kind of weird how these guys were exploited as dream boyfriends for young girls...Dan Schneider was a product of that era's industry.
He'd still ask for toes.
space force reminds me of another 90s show where teens had mechs, only recall one episode where they fought giant worms in ice caves. was live action with cgi.
It is deeply weird to see Bronson Pinchot in Perfect Strangers…and then see him in The Langoliers where he plays an insane killer
Definitely, for me its weird to hear him without a heavy accent like in Perfect Strangers and Beverly Hills Cop.
It's deeply weird seeing Thomas Gibson play the carefree Greg in Dharma & Greg and then transition into the ultra serious Agent Hotchner in Criminal Minds.
@@keithtorgersen9664 I haven't seen Criminal Minds, but that does sound odd O_O
AND HE DID IT DELIBERATELY!
@@TheReviewStudioswhich is probably why he went back to doing an accent when he was a stylist in the final season(s) of Step by Step
Geez, no wonder I spent the 90s fighting with my now ex-wife.
"The trouble with Larry" reworked the "uncle Buck" ad
WTF! Back then as a teenager I was a couch potato watching and recording just about every show I came across, even if it was crap. I don’t remember any of these shows whatsoever!
You know a show’s going to fail when it steals a gag from “I Love Lucy”.
Well, this time, I can say I've never seen any of them, but 3 of them, I've heard of at least. That being South Beach, Space Rangers, and Home Free. Maybe as commercials on VHS Tapes dad had, or maybe they were brought up in other RUclips videos, can't remember for sure, but do remember hearing about them. And The Trouble With Larry, yeah, I could see the problem with the title right off the bat, with that guy starring in it, hearing the title, thought it would have been another spin off of Perfect Strangers, much like Family Matters was, but guess not. And here I thought Langoliers was the start of that actor's downfall. Guess it started before hand. Anyways, enjoyed the video. Thank you.
Its nice to see you back again, yeah 93 was a tough year I struggled to even find enough clips for this video
I'm amazed I never heard any of these shows, but of course its nice to recognize Alot of these actors!!
Someone once thought a show about a dude being dragged off by a baboon during his honeymoon was going to be a hit? lol
Absolutely ridiculous story line
It worked for Chris Rock on Pootie Tang.
@@joeriveracomedycept Chris came back.
Oh man...My ex-wife & I LOVED Key West. So much so, that one of our daughters is named after a character from the show.
How did I immediately recognize the "South of Sunset" theme? One episode aired? Crazy! I can't remember where I put my keys.
It's funny how that works sometimes
I was 14 in '93, and I remember really liking Key West and being bummed it got canceled. I've thought about it a few times over the past few years, though I'd be hard-pressed to remember anything that happened in it. I did remember the Hemingway connection and I think of the show whenever he comes up.
Another one I liked around that time was Class of '96. Don't think that lasted long either.
I actually remember Space Rangers! That show was cool to a kid in the 90s
I was in college, so I don't remember any of these, but I do recall Jay Leno on the Tonight Show telling Dan Cortez how dumb it was that the Vette in his new show started immediately after being found dusty and dilapidated in an old barn. What a strange memory to still have. I wonder how Cox and Perry's future would have changed if their shows had succeeded? EDIT: I looked him up. it's spelled Cortese. My bad. He's still acting, but that's after largely disappearing for almost a decade.
That is amazing to remember such an obscure thing after all these years. Little did Cox and Perry know that the failure of those two shows would actually help jump start their careers.
Amazing, strange...it's a bizarre memory to still have and recall at this particular moment. A family member's birthday? Nah! An obscure Tonight show recollection of a Dan Cortez interview? Absolutely! Wasn't he on MTV? Wow, that is odd. I should stop thinking about my damaged 50 year old brain now. 😑Too much music television in the 80's I guess.@@TheReviewStudios
Nbc loved Dan Cortese giving him shine on Seinfeld & SNL Stefan reviews.
Running the Halls. That's it! I have been trying to remember the name of that show for years. I loved it. The episode where a "no shark" party was thrown always stuck with me.
One of the biggest problems with a lot of the television shows they did is when the original showrunner who got the series off the ground decides to leave and move on the networks put in somebody that's nothing but a stuffed shirt executive the series goes down the tubes
Wait, was that Dan "The Foot Fan" Schneider?
Yes, it is that creepy bastard
No, that was Dan "Ten Toes, Young Hoes" Schneider.
Out of all these shows, I only remember "Key West". I didn't realize it was so short lived though. I never watched the show really, but I do remember it being on TV in the background from time to time (as we ALWAYS had the TV on, even if nobody was watching it lol). From that moment on, I never forgot Fisher Stevens' face. I'd always say "Hey, it's that guy from Key West!"
I missed all of these shows. Working and college took up all my time.
People seem to forget Courtney Cox was on Family Ties as Lauren.
I remember Key West. There were TONS of promos weeks before it played. I kinda liked it, but I guess most Nielson box owners did not.
Dan Cortese of MTv fame played the sidekick in the Route 66 reboot
I still love the opening theme for space rangers.
And how could you not mention Cary tagawa and linda hunt being in it?
I grew up watching a lot of shows in the 90s and I briefly remember Route 66 only because they mentioned Allentown Pennsylvania as the guys Hometown and that's where I happen to live! And watching this video and seeing the picture of that highway sign of Route 222 towards Allentown just makes me feel giddy because I drive that route every day back and forth to work. Allentown doesn't get enough recognition in a lot of shows save for the Billy Joel song and in an episode of The X-Files and Supernatural, I believe.
Man i dont remember any of these!
its probably a good thing
I don't remember any of these either and I was like 13
@MelB868 yeah, I would have been 13 and watching 60 hours of TV, but these are completely new to me. I do vaguely remember wondering why the two dudes from perfect strangers were never in anything else, but...
@@TheReviewStudios maybe I'll have better luck for the 1994 video :)
.... I remember that The Trouble with Larry commercial. I'm kinda freaking out.
there was one cop show that featured a detective and his partner. The show was shot using the camera as the partner's point of view so all conversations were directed at the camera. Does any one remember this show?
I'll have to get back with you on that
@@TheReviewStudios thanks
@@WinterSteele I want to say that it was a drama. I just remember thinking that it was interesting using the camera like it was an actual person but I also remember there were no responses from the camera just almost a monologue from the other person directed at the camera??? Oh and the camera was a rookie detective.
@@WinterSteele honestly I don't remember who starred in it.
I was 14 back in 1993 and I honestly don't remember any of those shows but I do remember a short-lived show in that year called Thea. I thought that show was pretty 20 but not very believable because Blackstone live or act like that for real. I'm shocked those 2 shows shows placed in South Florida on the beach didn't do better but as as a kid who grew up in mianineteen 93 was and will forever be known as the year postHurricane Andrew.Key West and most of MiamiWe're almost decimated so it probably made filming and travel very difficult. Even today things are kn post Andrew.
I vividly remember Key West at that time, I remember them always advertising its season premier and all while watching the best show that ever came from FOX, Married With Children.
Martin Milner was also in Adam-12 which was great.
I don't really remember any of these shows honestly, except for Key West. I never watched Key West, but I do remember that was a show that was on at this time.
Thanks for watching.
Surprisingly, I only remember one of these shows and it's "Key West". The rest I've never heard of ever.
Oh geez, did anyone notice that Dan Schneider was in _Home Free_
I bet those kids have stories
I actually remember key west and enjoyed it. Some of these shows were ahead of their time
key west was a great show.
12:16 yea I'd watch that 👀
On Home Free, It was confusing to see the lady from It's from It's A Living nice and loving. She was typecasted to me. It was fun seeing the computer nerd from Head Of The Class as a grown-up though.
Damn I loved Running the Halls
Same!
So many things about the Route 66 sequel! So the son inherited the first actual Corvette that disappeared in later seasons and was replaced with a Stingray! It must have been stashed away somewhere! Haha!
Key West is a classic and is packed with great writing that deals with some excellent existential issues about life. I wish there had been more than 1 season..
Like the narrator said. Too smart for the era. Folks may remember Fisher Steven right now as Logan's right hand man from the excellent HBO Succession, and a succesful docudrama director. But I always remember him as The Plague "Never fear, I is here".
I do remember Key West. I saw it as a fish out of water show trying to capitalize on the success of Northern Exposure.
Not even being in Stereo, could save these flops!
I remember some of these titles but none of these series.
I was 19 in 1993, I can say that I never watched these or heard of any of these.
Gotta sample the theme song to these shows. Its so much better and nostalgic with the music.
I never heard of these shows.
Major Dad was cancelled to make room for the Trouble with Larry. Talk about a blunder.
Major Dad was a major deal back in the day. Surprising sometimes the way things turn out. Thank you for watching!
@@TheReviewStudios people forget in season three it was in the top 10 but then major Dad designing women and the Golden girls spin off Golden Palace or all put on Friday nights to compete with ABC’s TGIF. Very bad experiment because it resulted in all three shows getting canceled.
the trouble with larry would later become a blockbuster movie staring tom hanks xD
I remember some of these. I really liked Key West
I don't remember any of these. Some of the premises sound good but obviously didn't work.
Key West and another show that could of been on this list, Class of 1996, were hugely popular at my college. We only had 500 students and were in a rural area so really bored but they were fun shows to mock.
a lot of people make fun of these series, but many of these disasters started many a career
9:46 - Glenn "Fray" 🤦♂️😅😂
Sorry
Cary Hiroyuki Tagawa in Space Rangers would go on to star as the villainous Shang Tsung in the hit video game-turned-movie Mortal Kombat in 1995.
It's interesting that Fisher Stevens is often typecast as this very intelligent but morally grey or morally bankrupt invidividual. Hackers, The Super Mario Bros Movie (the one in the 90s), a character from the crime show Numb3rs.
Fisher Stevens is also quite well known for his guest role in Friends. Just one episode back in season 1, but it's Friends so of course millions of people have watched every episode a ton so very familiar with even one-episode characters. And he played an intelligent character whom everyone hated by the end (more because he couldn't help himself do his psychologist thing and point out all their own flaws, rather than be a malicious person himself)
Perfect Strangers. Balki or whatever his name was. Same crazy guy in Langoliers.
I remember only one crime and punishment. The rest ive never heard or seen 93 was a strange year for tv though.
I guess they weren't good enough to leave an impact on my memory but I don't recall any of these.
