  • Do you know that there's one thing that foreign travelers can't miss when they come to the Philippines?! Beautiful beaches? San Miguel Beer? That's no no!
    It's actually a street food!
Having started a day from eating Jollibee and Halo-halo, I and my friend, MinJune, went to eat Pinoy street food. As it was so hard to find the place to eat street food at the place I live, BGC, we just headed straight to Mercato Centrale because that's the only place where we can enjoy various kinds of street foods in the Philippines.
As there were many choices of Filipino foods, we not only tried to eat street foods but also some authentic Filipino dishes! After trying all those delicious foods, my Korean friend, MinJune, suddenly fell in love with THIS! He was even lost his words after eating THIS and I was so surprised to see his reaction.
So let's go find out together what THIS is in the video! Tara!

Thank you Oppa Jinyong for appreciating our food genuinely. Been watching foreigner youtubers trying filipino foods- reviewing and liking it, But I dont feel the same sincerety as you do, compared to them. You are so polite that even on your video, we can feel how you appreciate our food and even encouraging you friend to try it. Hearing honest opinion from your friends, doesnt even sound mean at all. We love you back from the bottom of our hearts and will always be considered as part of the family.

Jinyoung, lechon is supposed to be dipped in sarsa, not in vinegar. When you go to the supermarket, try to look for Mang Tomas sarsa. Before, sarsa was not produced commercially. It just comes along when you buy a lechon. Now, they are one of the best loved Filipino condiments, and you can dip lechon kawali, pork chop, liempo, BBQ, sometimes even fried chicken in sarsa. Adobo with sarsa is also a blast!

Haha, enjoy your videos, guys. Thanks for appreciating our food, we also like Korean foods, like for me, I really like Korean spare ribs (Galbi jjim).. so our tastes are pretty similar. Problem is, we like eating, so we tend to go overweight haha. Unlike before, these foods (like lechon) are very readily available nowadays so they are eaten almost everyday, not just on occasions. For beer or liquor drinking sessions, order Sisig or Crispy Pata :)

But not just a simple vinegar. It's combination of little vinegar, water, soy sauce, red onion, cucumber, sugar and salt and pepper.. Sauce must be bit sweet and sour.. Nice vlog =) thanks for enjoying Filipino food

You too are cute! Btw lechon is usually paired with a sauce. Most common you can buy is Mang Tomas specific for lechon or pork belly. You can also dip it in soy sauce with chopped onions, garlic, red chillies, vinegar and brown sugar to sweeten. My fave comfort food is fish ball paired with 'manong sauce'. You can google for the recipe and find out why it's fondly called manong fishball sauce. :)

Filipino rule: anything too salty or flavorful, dip in vinegar sauce. and eat with rice. I think these 3 elements (sweet, sour, salty) are always present. Filipinos prefer blend or mixture of tastes together.

Pinoy food tend to be on the salty side cause it encourage you to eat rice (rice being a staple food in the Philippines) also it encourage you to drink plenty of water/liquid... The weather being hot one needs to replenish the water in the body that is lost when sweating... Also consider the preserving factor, in the olden days (prior to refrigerator, salt was used a lot to preserve food).

Adobo is just like bulgogi! You can make it more sweet, salty, or sour according to your preference! I personally prefer it to be sweeter, I also use oyster sauce to create the salty flavour and to make the sauce thicker.

Oh wow i always go there every night after work before going home. I buy cassava cake, kikiam, fishballs, squid balls, latik, takoyaki and other food depending on what we crave.
