  • Mabuhay! 안녕하세요! Ako si Jinyong!
Happy New Year! What did you all have on New Year's day? I and my friends had Korean rice cake soup, which is so-called "Tteokguk" in Korean. Did you have spaghetti on New Year's day? I know spaghetti means a lot to Filipinos. People in the Philippines eat spaghetti not only on a special occasion but on a daily basis right? It must be a comfort food for Filipinos I believe!
So today in the video, I brought Filipino-style Spaghetti to my friends in Korea and introduced them about Filipino tradition on new year's day! And after that, we've tried "THIS" as a dessert!
What's "THIS" gonna be? And will my friends like it? Let's find out together!

I’m a Korean who really loves the Philippines 🙂
And that’s the reason why I started to learn TAGALOG!
Though I’m really not good at speaking Tagalog now, I would like to speak really fluently like a native speaker someday!
I made this channel to introduce Filipino culture to all the foreigners including my Korean friends. (and Korean culture to Filipino as well!)
I really hope people know Philippines more and more by watching my videos!

Here I have a question to ask😁😁 It's about the term "Sausage" In the video, I and my friends kept saying "Sausage" but it seems like it's rather called "Hotdog" in the Philippines! I was bit confused with the word choice because the term "Hotdog" for me is the one with sausage and bread! please correct me if I'm wrong so that I know it correctly from now on haha
    Love you all😍😍

    • @chem.1361
      @chem.1361 5 лет назад +31

The correct word for the "sausage " used in Filipino-style spaghetti is indeed HOTDOG. We call hotdog encased in bread as "hotdog sandwich". :) Additional info: Filipinos also tend to use ground beef/pork and ham in their spaghetti along with hotdog. Some even add cream to make the sauce creamier and richer.

I love this channel! Also, just an fyi, one of the reasons our spaghetti is sweet is because so it will be easily liked by children. Usually, kids are very picky with their food but since our spaghetti is sweet and has hotdogs and cheese which are both familiar for kids, it’s easy to make them eat it. Also, filipinos are taught to “simot” - meaning, to make sure we eat everything on the plate as a sign of respect to the food, the one who cooked it and to poor people who can’t afford to eat it. So, to “simot”, what we do is to get a piece of bread and wipe off the remaining sauce on the plate with it, and eat the bread last.😂 it sounds cheap, but i know a lot of filipinos do it.
Also, spaghetti is not really a “new year” food (exclusively), but a “for all occassions” kind of food. 😂

I was about to comment the same thing! It is mostly present in every childrens party. Pancit is the one that represents long life. I would love to have them tried Tender Juicy Hatdog tho. Let's see if they can call it sausage again. 😂😂

the main reason i love this channel is because your explanations are so thorough & accurate! whenever i see any type of food reactions in general, especially when they’re done by a foreign person, they usually leave out a lot of important details or things only a person of that culture would know, but your explanations are sometimes better than a native person’s!! very well done, im looking forward to more of these in the future :)))

I have mixed emotions with my Filipino culture but I do enjoy these types of videos about my motherland. It makes me giggle and misses my home. Thanks oppa for sharing our culture to others there in South Korea.
When you say dessert after eating spaghetti, I was like "c'mon. Leche flan! Leche flan!!" And then when you show the leche flan, *mind blown*.

Filipinos have sweet taste buds that's why most Filipinos love sweets.
Whenever I make spaghetti I often mix the sweet style with the Italian one.
I am a Filipino but I don't like it too sweet though.

I missed a lot of Filipino foods so I enjoyed watching your videos. I started to like you because you introduced Pinoy foods to your fellow koreans and I can see that you're fond of Filipino culture, foods and the language. Anyway, I am a fan of Kdrama and I love to learn a lot about korea. In the future I want to visit korea first in my next visit to Philippines. American Spaghetti is sour and I can't really used eating it so I cook my own Spaghetti in Pinoy style and watching your videos now I'm craving for it.

Filipinos love spaget we pair it with fried chicken or spring rolls or lumpia in birthdays, its the spaget everyone loves, I like mine with a thick sauce but a little sweet its something filipinos would long for.

Binge watching your vids... a year and a half late but I'm liking how you're giving historical and cultural context to the food! Well done!
I make my own leche flan (and it's pretty darn good if I may say so) as I like to control the sweetness level. I prefer it less sweeter than how it's often made.
It's 1 of the 2 only Filipino desserts I know how to make, the other is cassava cake - which I highly recommend!!!

When my mom cooks spaghetti she adds evaporated milk, all purpose cream, and cheese to reduce the sourness of the tomato sauce. She also adds ketchup but not that much, hotdogs, corned beef and ground pork. For me her spaghetti is the best! I don't like Jollibee sphagetti because my mom's sphagetti is more delicious. Hihi.😂😂😂

Birthday or any celebration must have SPAGHETTI 🍝
ITS my comfort food. Every time i need "boost" i go to jollibee for spaghetti. Hehe. We love is SWEET. We usually put some "banana catsup".
Yay leche flan. 😍 we re addicted to leche flan so my sister in law learned how to perfect leche flan so every time we want to eat it. We just buy eggs, condense milk & evap

the reason why the taste of spaghetti in the phillippines is sweet because it suits the taste buds of the children. they wont eat if it's sour. so instead of putting tomato sauce alone, they also put ketchup to make it sweet. added also are hotdogs. because children love hotdogs.

In the Philippines we just call it hotdog. I think in Korea Hotdog is the food inside corndog? When hotdog is with bread we called it half long or foot long.Spaghetti can be eaten in breakfast, lunch and even dinner it is one of the favorite food in Philippines especially children it is very important to have this in birthdays😊 Leche flan is my favorite dessert😍 yey😍
