  • Summer has already come here in the Philippines. And the heat over here is totally...beyond description...I even can't fall asleep because of the heat these days. I really hate Summer!
What do you usually do to overcome those heat during Summer? I'm pretty sure many of you go to eat Halo-Halo to beat the heat, isn't it? So having enjoyed touring around BGC area, MinJune and I went to eat Halo-Halo at one of my favorite Halo-Halo restaurants, Kuya J.
I know everyone has his or her own favorite Halo-Halo restaurant including Razon's, Max's, Mang Inasal, Chow King, but this time I brought MinJune to Kuya J to let him try different kinds of Halo-Halo as it's his first time to try Halo-Halo.
In Korea, there's a similar one to Halo-Halo which is called "Bingsu" and many Koreans enjoy it in their daily lives but I just wondered whether my Korean friend would like Filipino Bingsu, Halo-Halo, as well!
You wanna know how MinJune reacted to Halo-Halo? I know! Then let's go find out together!

Koreans are normally polite. They are more polite than Filipinos. Their language even have different terms depending on the age of who you talk to. They use honorifics to elderly and they cannot talk informally to their elders unless they ask for permission.

Wow another great video! I recently discovered your channel and I have been binge watching everything. I'm half Filipino and half Canadian, so it's nice to see videos about my mother's culture and the food. I love that you're open to it and it's fascinating to see you and your friends trying the food. I can't wait to see more videos ~!
I don't know if you've tried it, but I'd love to see you or your friends try mamon. It's my fave snack/sweet and when ever my mom goes to the Philippines, we get her to buy it. Red Ribbon has nice ones ^^

Though most people in the comment section always say that ‘halo-halo’ literally means ‘mix-mix’ where the name is apparently hailed from so you have to mix before eating, I’ve always thought that ‘halo-halo’ is not the verb or act of mixing but an adjective describing the dessert which have so many ingredients mixed in. like ‘halo-halo’ means roughly like, ‘all mixed in/it’s-all-in-there’. Like ‘hanapin mo yung damit mo dyan, nagHALO-HALO na kasi yung malinis at marumi dyan.” Kasi totoo naman na merong basic ingredients ang halo-halo pero pwede mo ring idagdag kung ano ingredients pa meron or ano ang bet mo ilagay. So ‘halo-halo’ na lahat.

If I may, is like to say that Halo-Halo means different varieties. It's different varieties of something which in this case, it's sago, banana, beans, macapuno, etc... Many Filipinos have also mistaken the meaning of halo-halo but this is the real meaning of it.
I hope this helps! Good luck to your channel and more power!
