His eyes and posture every time he asked "are you mad at me" and "did I do something wrong" was brilliant, and the little things along the way, such as when he think that Chuck is starting to believe his story out in Hacker Conference explaining where everyone sat at the table. He has this very bright smile, the opposite of duper's delight, so genuine in his belief that he and Chuck are agreeing with each other. Or the other great little moment, when after Chuck removes him from the office and then Glass gets a security guard to let him back inside the office and you can hear him all smiles and pleasantries, and only 90 seconds later, he alludes to Chuck that he is suicidal. he was trying to distract from the suspicious website by offering up some info they wanted...trying to get back on their good side and change the subject, but Penenberg caught him
I agree. There's more: when Stephen apologizes for the false info "they" gave him. If he had been telling the truth, why should he apologize? The supposed source should be apologizing to him for the incorrect info.
The giveaway was that the number for Jim Ghort that Stephen was about to give to Pennenberg would most likely lead to a phony voicemail of Jim Ghort that either Stephen or his brother made to further validate his lie. But pennenverg knew it wasn’t a Nevada number. So when Chuck said “give him the number” they presumably dialed it and heard the fake voicemail saying it was Jim Ghort which couldn’t be since it’s not Nevada

If only Hayden pulled a Pattinson and do more dramatic roles after his big franchise role. He's definitely got the acting chops to pull it off.
i don’t care what people say but no matter what I think Hayden is a really good actor. he did great in Star Wars prequels and his other movies. i also just love his voice lol and he’s just such a great guy. love him💕💕
It's over Stephen, Forbes has the high ground!
Would you prefer a reply from Vader or Glass?
digging the hole so deep you just can never get out of it..
2:50 Busted
Adam: "605 that's not Nevada"
Stephen: .....FUCK
3:25
It was when the protagonist became an antagonist and the antagonist became the protagonist...
Glass is still the protagonist and Lane is still the antagonist. The former is what you call a villain protagonist, while the latter is what you call a hero antagonist.
Remember that a protagonist is simply the leading character of the story. An antagonist is simply the one who opposes the protagonist
@@titan133760 The screenwriters have been clear that they intentionally shifted POV to Lane halfway through the story because the audience would want to "kill themselves by the end" if it was purely from Glass' POV. Make no mistake, Lane is both the hero of the story and the protaganist, this isn't a clear cut "villain rise and fall" movie.
@@vishaansingh1019This movie was an absolute masterpiece I love how they did that especially how it turned out that Glass was actually talking to no one and just imagining getting praise from high schoolers while the entire magazine were clapping for Chuck who was originally built as the asshole turns out to be the hero
Chiiiile, when I first saw this scene, I was sweating right along WITH Steven...and the look of doubt and sheer agitation on his boss’s face???😱😱😱
I had no idea Hayden Christensen was a good actor until I watched this clip...I’m just sorry for the bad rep he gets from Star Wars, he’s not bad at all in here.
3:21 The boss just wants to deck him
0:49 should be a meme. An "Are you fucking. Serious." meme.
@@Seneillion Oh my god, yes! How has this not become a meme template yet?
saw glass in an interview. hayden did great job portraying this "character".
Anakin on deathsticks
Anakin and Ahsoka!
If Glass had never been caught, he might've had in mind in writing a novel under a pseudonym where his "journalistic" career was the plot and the book title was called 'Duped Moronics'.
Or “The Fabulist”
Frank and Ahsoka just trying to finish Anakin whole career 😭💀
I feel sorry for the real guy this movie is based on.
Why, he straight up lied to thousands of people
Anyone who has lied ever knows this is a perfect example of how a lie turns into another lie that turns into another lie. Better just live a life where you can be as honest as possible because lies are too hard to keep track of.
1:31 Rosario's smile is so cute!😍
2:42
Fun Fact: 605 is the Area Code for South Dakota
Tons of huge tech companies there
Anakin if he had stayed in journalism school be like :
Hayden Christensen I wonder if he would have been good in the movie Spotlight
Mr Blue maybe as the journalist who lives near the ‘treatment Center’
Good question, that's another good movie. What role would you give him? I would have given him the Mark Ruffalo character.
Mr Blue he would have been amazing
"It does not require many words to speak the truth." -Chief Joseph
Stephen: "Are we off the record?"
Forbes guy: "If you like."
Girl: picks up pen and starts writing
Hot damn girl
This new Republic article is a sieve.
Fiction does have an appropriate place and use. This just isn't one of them.
Gives me anxiety just to watch!
Something tells me they aren't going to grant him the rank of Master.....
Oh he is a master ... at getting caught.
This movie is loaded with young actors back then who are now known. Melanie Lynskey, Steven Zahn, Rosario Dawson, Peter Saarsgard, Chloe Sevigny. Hayden Christensen was well known because of Star Wars but the others not so much.
1:21 Ahsoka??
THIS GUY WAS A REMARKABLE COMPULSIVE LIAR LIKE JODI ARIAS
They could become pen pals, then, as he is now working as a lawyer of all things, she would want him to represent her in court once she subsequently demanded a new trial based on jury prejudice from her first trial. I wouldn't put it past either of them!
Coming here after HC confirmed for Kenobi series
Didnt know general skywalker had a desk job…
2:52 honestly he could’ve just said “yeah Jim Gort wasn’t born in Nevada, and he didn’t change his number after moving to Nevada.”
Stephen probably said something about it being an office number, not a cell number
He got caught up in his own bullshit.
Matt Vender
But there does appear to be a state in the Union named Nevada
Peter Sarsgaard was smoking HOT in this .
ikr
1:42 That was the tinder. The phone number at 2:43 was the match. From there, it was all downhill.
I love this movie
I put Jukt Micronics on my resume.
Proof hayden can actually act
Painfully beautiful.
If you ever had to make up lies on the fly to your superiors to cover up for something then this scene becomes viscerally real
Greg heffleys dad vs annakin skywalker
Anakin and Ahsoka were friends though?
Holy shit they got him cold.
Hayden was amazing in this movie
He's been so stigmatized thanks to Star Wars but this should prove he can act
@@jaelie8398he’s proven way before Star Wars he can act it’s just writinh
@@corinnedrake3628Yeah he was nominated for a golden globe a year before AOTC even came out. In fact his performance in Life as a House was so really liked that he was the first choice for The Notebook but because of the Star Wars hate the producers went with Gosling instead. People always say how Star Wars is such a great thing but I actually think Hayden could have possibly had a better career had he not done Star Wars
Looks like he is a master.. at getting caught.
Lol I understood that reference.
I don't know why but guy on 00:30 reminds me on Marty MCFly's mother 🤣
I spoke to them a million times
I tend to agree it could have just been a bad match for star wars because he is very good in this movie.
it was a good match for star wars
He was a good match for Star Wars, George Lucas wasn't a good match as director in Star Wars. And as if Star Wars has good performances overall, literally every actor in star wars has had way better performances outside Star Wars. Stop taking it so seriously its a kids film
I know that I also agree ❤
Right there is a giveaway that Stephen is lying. When he offered to give Adam (Steve Zahn) the number for Jim Ghort. If he was trying to hide his fabrications, he should have waited for Adam to ask for the number, instead of just offering it.
he was trying to distract from the suspicious website by offering up some info they wanted...trying to get back on their good side and change the subject, but Penenberg caught him
I always hated it when he walked into the office holding his pen in his mouth (1:00).
When I see people do that, it makes it look like they're working very hard and persistently, but I don't see why it would hurt to just keep it in your pocket until you need it. It's small enough to fit in any pocket, even when pockets are full. People just annoy me when they hold things in their mouth.
Or it can just be a subconscious habit. Not everything in life is a con. Just most things.
You’re obsession with this is more annoying
@@missym877 I think you find it more encouraging towards me than annoying. After all, I expressed a thought, and it interrupted your life enough to respond to it. BTW, when you wrote that reply, were you holding a pen in your mouth? :P
That it took this article to expose Glass. And not the loads of articles bashing conservatives… no, they let those simply slide by. Even though conservative news outlets similarly reached out to New Republic claiming foul play
Funny though, that fictitious piece describing shenanigans at the young conservatives' conference are mere kid's play compared to what so-called conservatives are now doing and are willing to tolerate lmfao!
@@streetgato9697 orange man bad
@@streetgato9697 not at all. Just because your bully of choice throws accusations out regularly and holds others to standards they would never hold themselves to. In other words: nice way to justify trying to defame conservatives.

My thoughts exactly. It hurts!!!
people like you overusing the word "cringe" and using it as a bad thing is a giant cringe.
@@saithfeed511 You're an anti-cringe hipster. Thats pretty cringe.
@@awakenow7147 I have no idea why people are still using that word that should have died back in 2016 it's actually annoying than Hayden Christensen. using it doesn't make you cool or funny.
@@saithfeed511 I don't think the word is mean't to make anyone cool or funny. Its mean't to describe an actual feeling that one has when empathizing with someone who is doing something embarrassing. I actually like Hayden Christensen. I think Igor is trying to say that he feels embarrassed for the character during the entire movie. The character is lieing about stuff and is slowly being found out. Watching the character go through this process can cause second hand embarrassment for the viewer. Therefore, a cringe response.
I'm referring to you as an anti-cringe hipster...mainly because I'm just being an a-hole. But I do understand where you're coming from. It gets annoying when people keep using lame internet words. But it doesn't necessarily decrease their value or meaning.
